I watched it, it had a little woke agenda pushing to it, but you try your hardest and put that aside, it was an amazing show. I loved it, little less "modern" world stuff would have been nice. It's so cool.

Studio Ponoc has a distinct style of animation and themes in general so no comarison there. In Studio Ghibli i like Miyazaki but i wasn't really a full fan of his work. I was literally into Isao Takahata's work in general example of his exquisite works are: Jarinko Chie (1981), Gauche the Cellist (1982), Grave of the Fireflies (1988), Only Yesterday (1991), Pom Poko (1994), My Neighbors the Yamadas (1999) and The Tale of Princess Kaguya (2014). All of his films are very distinct to each other in terms of the visuals, themes and storytelling. The Imaginary is a fantastic film that has its own identity and unique visual style. No need to compare.

I noticed that in The Garfield Movie Garfield isn’t as obsessed with eating lasagna as he was in the original comic strip and animated series because he didn’t eat the whole family size lasagna when he was a kitten in the flashback only one portion of it, and is never shown eating lasagna onscreen though he was close to eating a lasagna piece but never did because discovering that his father Vic truly cared about him after the series of misunderstandings and him ignoring the growls of his stomach and temptation to eat the lasagna when it happened and Odie going to save him from Veltina caused him to never do so. I wonder why this is, and it is a slight out of character moment for Garfield.

The wind rises is based on the story of real life person; Jiro, who created the airplanes in 35's to 45's in Japan. I watched that movie recently, wasn't that bad. I felt sad at the end of it (not gonna spoil it). Toutching story.

I was also crazy about Mindhunter.

I think Joey King's character was being way too insensitive and .....well like you said not written well. It was funny at 1st but the more she kept trying to ruin it for her mom was too much. It's like they started writing it for a 24 year old and as the movie progressed they forgot and thought she was 12.

They kept mentioning sleep away camp so I figured out the allgory but even as an artist who does trippy vintage art myself I wasnt feeling this film.I honestly think they should produce some music videos though cus the filming looks like a 90s early 2000s grungy, alternative , and indndie rock feel.great review .

The lighting was perfect. Flawless. Spot on. You know immediately you are in the midwest for real. Frequently gray or a little cloudy ⛅️ skies. That doesn't happen by accident in a Hollywood movie and I would would not be surprised if the time spent waiting around for the perfect moody midwest sky contributed substantially to the estimated $50 million production cost. For me it was worth the wait and worth the $$. Outside Lighting is everything to me. My main example is all the other movies where it inexplicably rains while you can see sunshine everywhere. That kills the illusion for me everytime.

Easily worth 4 stars. Nothing disappointing about the film.

I see a lot of comments talking about NK plastic surgery, but it honestly not as horrible as people saying

I literally had to pause this movie at the Christmas dinner scene cause I simply couldn’t believe what I was watching. I’m all for suspension of disbelief when watching movies but my god, this can’t even compute in my head (both the plot and character motivations). It’s like doing a second play-through on an RPG decision game and you decide to just choose all the worst possible dialogue options, just to see how weird the story would turn out. I don’t even blame the writer, director or actors for this, I blame the editor that didn’t even ask why all the characters are written with 0 emotional intelligence. Just sad.

Had my eye on this one for a while and really looking forward to this one, awesome that you got a chance to see it early, i def want to check this one out on Friday but will keep an eye out about what you said with the lore and the world building i will def be enjoying the ride rather than going in looking for nitpicking, great review man

Hi, great review! But.. How can you call it a rom-com? I haven't laughed once... the best work in this movie was done by plastic surgeon... the writing - so basic it hurts. Good rom-com for me was/is Lost City with Bullock.

This movie is insanely boring

I’m telling this movie did not do a great job with the writing. They tried to make the characters unlikable to each other just to create drama. The characters did not do a great job apologizing to each other. I think it should be Chris Cole to apologize first because first he treated Zara bad, he took the chat meeting with her mom too far trying to make himself look presentable in his suit and making it look like it’s date when it was supposed to be a chat meeting. The grandma for me went too far disrespecting Zara’s boundaries when she forced her mother to invite Chris Cole over for dinner. The movie sucks.

Plastic looking actors are the worst thing

The movie wasn’t good and the hardest part was trying to get past looking at Nichole kidman’s horrible plastic surgery…WTH I couldn’t get past the crazy looking lips and fluffed face! Age gracefully like most people where you look NATURAL and normal. And the performance was stiff and lackluster for me, nothing exciting. And Zack is just as bad with the crazy plastic surgery…geez why pay money to look so fake, distorted and unrecognizable. This movie for me was a waste of time that I couldn’t even stomach to the end with actors I love and enjoy…just my opinion

Was not a fan of this one, it wasnt funny and Nicole Kidman was more of a mother to him that a girlfriend. Kathy Bates is the best thing in the movie for sure. Joey King was insufferable. Best recent romcom to me is Always Be My Maybe with Randall Park and Ali Wong, I absolutely love that movie. Loved Palm Springs too such a great movie as well.

I only tried watching because it seemed similar to “The Idea of You” which I really enjoyed. I could not finish this one. It was just not believable! Zero chemistry between those two.

Right on. I really wanted to like this because nowadays good horror is hard to come by. This movie was so slow. You were right, half the movie was dragging and then when it started to get somewhat interesting..and that’s a reach…it gave nothing. It just seems lazy and so beyond frustrating like you said. I hated it.

Its weird to me to think that people think you need to be queer to relate to this film This movie is just as much about being Trans and queer escapism as it is about any and almost all adults who have mid life crises The fear that everything you held dear as a kid fades and that you live your life so fast yet it fells unfulfilling. I giggled to myself when I looked at your videos after seeing your spot-on review of A FAMILY AFFAIR. I laughed as I saw HIT MAN as I have been a regular viewer of RICHARD LINKLATER since SLACKER. I agree that GLEN POWELL's in his moment now after being a jobbing actor (twice with LINKLATER) and maybe more with netflix. I guess I may have to watch ANYTHING BUT YOU next month, yet after LISA FRANKENSTEIN after your recommendation. I highly recommend a deep dive into LINKLATER, he is a quiet master of film. x!
