What's the best Adam Sandler movie? I think I have to go with Billy Madison!
Uncut gems 💎
I seriously feel like this is his best movie. How it deals with loneliness and makes you look into yourself. His comedians back in the day are amazing but they’re all the same. This film had me thinking about my life and what I have done wrong.
This movie
As someone who spent over 20 years in the military that missed so much of my wife's and kids life due to country and duty. I felt so much of the human dynamic of the story. Being in space or in my case the desert is such a lonely place, I know for a fact I've experienced everything Adam Sandlers character felt and the mistakes he made as a partner. The main thing I didn't enjoy about the film was them trying to set a tone of that of a thriller instead of just a story of pain, grief and loss. The music score was so ominous and didn't match the feelings being displayed on the screen. I went into this expecting one thing and came out experiencing something completely different. Great review. I thought about doing one but this film felt way too personal for me and my review might have been too tough to film.
Wow I did not know that about you T, appreciate your sharing your personal experience here. Just goes to show how movies can mean so many different things to different people, I don't have that lens to draw from. Glad you dug this one, even if some of the technical aspects didn't resonate all that much. Thanks for watching and thank you for your service!
This is clearly not a film made for everybody. It’s a quiet, reflective film. I loved it, I thought the retro Soviet era space punk look of the film perfectly complemented the subject matter, everything has a tinge of wistful nostalgia about it, so I found it a very complete film; simple and effective, like a Cormac McCarthy novel, spare and elegant and no detail overlooked. Did it rock my world? No. But do I think it’s Art, and that we need more cinema as well considered as this is? Absolutely. My favourite Sandler film would have to be Reign Over Me, I thought his performance was outstanding and it was an important story to tell too.
Agree to totally disagree with you on this man. This movie was a 10.. it was an amazing story, and it wasnt a magical spider, Hanuk was a ancient creature from space, nothing magical about him. The story takes lessons we all should take to heart as humans. It basically says that we shouldnt ignore what is right infront of us, and dont take what we love for granted. Adam Sandlers preformance was amazing and tapped into some of his most awesome serious acting muscles. I didnt think it was anything less than amazing. the visuals were awesome. the story was awesome, and the spider had more understanding about human tribe than most humans. the hazelnut butter spread had me laughing, and everything he said skinny human was awesome.
He was extremely magical.
He can breath out air, is fine in our pressure and can even consume our food.
He's not real at all.
They say as much when Adam has Pete check the secret camera.
This movie is just a drawn out examination of a failed marriage.
It's got nothing to do with space, or time or god.
You can tell they wanted to make Project hailmary into a movie but didn't have the budget or couldn't get the rights in time
Punch-Drunk Love without a doubt, such a unique and brilliant film and his performance is what makes it completely memorable and one of my favourites
I really need to watch that one again, killer Phillip Seymour Hoffman phone call scene in there too. Thanks for watching, man!
As one who has dealt with separation and the pain of missing life’s milestones and relationship struggles, this resonated with me. Military and other jobs have caused that level of aloneness that Jakob felt.
It’s quite deep and introspective. Adam did a great job with this, and Paul Dano was excellent!
As for favorite Sandler movie, I’d have to go with The Wedding Singer.
It was a character study that stayed in the shallow end. But it was okay.
That's a pretty spot-on way of putting it. Really dug the concept, not so much the execution. Thanks for watching!
As czech it's wierd to see American movie talking about czech history but Its good film
Glad you enjoyed this one more than I did, hopefully they didn't butcher any Czech history involved too badly haha. Thanks for watching!
his Czech assent was strikingly similar to the voice he used in Billy Madison when he said "stop looking at me swan!"
Great, now I need to go watch that scene again to compare...Thanks for checking out the review!
That line of Houston we have a problem was very well done surprised to hear how disengaged you were with the movie seeing the trailer def looked promising I do want to check it out but now going in with worrying expectations solid review man
Haha glad you liked that opening line! Yeah this one was a disappointment for me because I loved the trailer and the setup, but it just didn’t manage to get me invested. Thanks for watching, dude!
I can’t even go mixed. Almost nothing in this worked for me. I have no desire of ever watching it again haha. Great review, Sully!
Haha wow, you were really not a fan of this one huh? I'm definitely split down the middle on it, but totally understand it's not gonna be for everyone. Thanks for watching, Zach!
Dang, was looking forward to this one, trailer had me intrigued
Yeah dude same here, I thought this one was gonna be pretty cool. Unfortunately I just wasn't engaged and found it kinda sluggish. Thanks for watching, dude!
Happy Gilmore is probably the only Adam Sandler movie that I have ever truly enjoyed. I've seen a bunch of them, but they just don't do anything for me. I'm a really tough audience when it comes to comedy. That being said, I had an Adam Sandler cassette tape back in mid 90s with some really great stuff on it. I got more laughs and enjoyment out of that tape than all of his movies combined. Great video as always man.
Have you checked out any of his dramatic stuff? Highly recommend Uncut Gems, Hustle, and Punch Drunk Love if not. Thanks for watching, JM!
@@SullyStreams I haven't seen any of those so maybe I'll give them a go. Thanks for the recommendations.
Man I was looking forward to this even though I’m not the biggest fan of giant spiders. I’ll still check it out but it’ll probably take me a little longer to get to it
Yeah I'm bummed about this one, always love seeing Sandler in more dramatic roles but this one didn't do it for me. Hopefully you have a better experience with it. Thanks for checking out the review, Kenny!
Interesting analysis from the other side, well, glad you’re not one of those academy award judges.
Thank You. I was patient watching this, wondering if something profound was going to be realized, but it never arrived for me?
It WAS tedious & depressing. I was lying here last night watching a lonely solo Cosmonaut (that's why it's called 'Solo' isn't it?) hugging a cute, fuzzy spider , somewhere beyond Jupiter?
The usual questions pop up such as is he going psychotic with his deep depression? Is the spider 'real'?
And then "why am I watching this?"
You were very generous with your rating. I give it a strong ZERO on all scales.
Cheers.🇨🇦🍺
This movie felt like a really really long way to say "you should appreciate whats in front of you"
I dont know why so many people seem to think this is revolutionary.
This movie didnt have to be in space at all, the whole film could have been him on a ship at sea.
The movie does nothing with the syfy elements. Its strictly window dressing.
Gotta go with Uncut Gems
Punch Drunk Love
50 First Dates
Hustle
Wedding Singer
Great list! I would add Billy Madison and Big Daddy, but those are solid choices. Thanks for watching, dude!
sounds like it was a good idea to skip this one 😅
Haha yeah, probably not one you need to put too high on your watchlist. Who knows, maybe you'll dig this one more than I did. The performances and the concept are solid, but the pacing and execution lost me. Thanks for watching, dude!
"Adam Sandler can do no wrong in my eyes." WUT???
Haha what I mean is he’s been a pillar in my movie watching life for so long that even when he makes a terrible film I can’t stay mad at him. I can admit that making someone watch Jack & Jill, The Ridiculous 6, or Pixels could be an effective torture method though…
It was a good movie
I was bored watching this movie. My wife and I couldn't take anymore and we turned it off after a half hour.
@@Batman-jc5ucyou two have ADHD or something?
Period
Bought Ghostbusters Frozen Tundra tix or whatever it’s called today. What are the odds it won’t suck? But still, I keep going back.
why are all the comments here so negative.. stop being a bandwagon youtube follwer.. give things a chance and make YOUR OWN OPINION.
I saw the giant spider and I turned the movie off . So I never finished
Probably for the best...Thanks for checking out the review!
No no no I didn't feel any connection I scrolled through I could understand but no Adam was not the best choice
I’m watching it now and I can say it’s sooooo boring
Yeah definitely one of those movies that feels longer than it actually is, which is never a good thing…Thanks for watching, dude!
@@SullyStreams ya I don’t even remember the movie it was that bad that I literally blocked it out the entire time
What a waste of Space this Spaceman movie is. Very dreary movie, so they decided to try make it more interesting by having a spaceman have Hallucinations of a Giant spider, that annoyingly kept calling him Skinny Human, Skinny Human, throughout the movie.
it is based off a novel
Incredibly boring movie. Every character also talked in a whisper. I turned the movie off after a half hour.
@@hbk.ccp4what novel?
Cause to me it seemed like the dollar store Project Hailmary
Wath a fuck this movie i lost 2 houre iof my life
I can't believe I let 2 hours of my life be taken away from me watching this 💩 movie.
Haha I think you disliked it even more than I did. Yeah this one was a bummer, with the concept and the team they had behind it, it should’ve been way better. Thanks for watching!
you understand absolutely nothing about films, Adam Sandler with Spaceman enters the Olympus as best actor, unsurpassed (I apologize for my English but I'm Italian and I don't know the various "slangs")
