What's the best horror movie from 2024 so far? I'm going with Late Night with the Devil or Abigail...
So far Abigail is my favorite and Immaculate is the best horror movie.
The First Omen is my favourite so far.
I love Late Night With the Devil!
the first omen, immaculate, then late night with the devil are my top 3 so far this year
Late Night with The Devil😮💨
Man it sucks to hear that they didn't stick to their premise. I was really interested in seeing a movie from the perspective of a killer. I might still see it but at least I know not to expect it to go for it the way I wanted it to.
There's definitely a very cool movie in here somewhere, but it was not executed in an interesting way the whole way through in its current state. Thanks for watching, Kenny!
saw it today and def worth seeing
@@georgekaskanlianjr78 Definitely still worth seeing, this is just my personal experience with the film. Glad you enjoyed it more than I did!
I would agree that it is definitely worth seeing. Just don't expect a masterpiece
The original Halloween gave audiences the stalking experience of Michael Myers. That was suspenseful along with the soundtrack without gore. That was the genius of it. This was a bore with some decent kills lacking any suspense and terrible acting.
Been hearing mixed reviews about this movie, i am glad to hear that the kills are gnarly but shame that they did not stick to the premise and having scenes without the killer as that is what i would be going in for great review man
Yeah it's unfortunate that it didn't work for me as much as I hoped, but others seem to like it turned out so you might enjoy yourself. Thanks for watching, dude!
Oh well. Looks like I’ll have to wait until next weekend with A Quieter Place of the whatever they call it. Agree with Abagail. The First Omen maybe 2nd place. We have a lot more in-store for us though.
I still haven't gotten around to seeing The First Omen yet, but it's very high on my watchlist. You're right, a lot more in store down the stretch!
Lmao at a Quieter place. I'm still upset that they didn't call it Don't Fart
Much needed population control is crazy lol. Disappointed they chickened out on the concept. Love a true artsy slasher. I still want to see it but it has such a limited release. My fave Horror film from this year is You'll never find me.
Haha that line was in reference to the annoying 20-something characters that are always in these movies, I promise I'm not that cynical. Haven't gotten a chance to check out You'll Never Find Me yet, I'll make sure to move that up the watchlist. Thanks for tuning in, Zach!
SUPER AGREE ON THAT ENDING! 10 mins of a monologue that lead to NOTHING. I did enjoy overall of being a different slasher. I also appreciate the low budget feel and can relate to it
U watched Abigail!? And did not tell me!? 🥹😭😭 What u think!? U like my future wife’s little dance scene 😂
Don't get me started on that ending...Had a LOT of fun with Abigail though. Upset that I missed it's theatrical run, definitely a crowd pleaser. Thanks for tuning in, Jacob!
Spoiler alert geeeez
Looks & feels like a fan film more than something which belongs in theatres.
I found myself thoroughly enjoying this one. From a practical and technical standpoint, it is incredible and I feel like it truly delivered. My biggest problem was the dialogue and the “teens”
Going to your point, I think the film wanted to be more, but couldn’t decide how to approach it, but I gave it a pass, because it is an experimental film and the first of its kind.
Glad you enjoyed yourself more than I did, dude! Yeah this is a tough one because I definitely admire what they set out to do, but I don't think they executed the film as advertised. A slasher totally from the killer's POV is no easy task, but they knew what they were signing up for. Thanks for watching, TJ!
I've been busy selling a house and moving across the state this year, so I haven't been able to see much. Without even seeing it though, I'm confident that my favorite is going to be Abigail.
Abigail sucks
Abigail is an absolute blast from start to finish. Good luck with all of the life changes, sounds super exciting!
Cant wait for this to hit streaming
Should be on Shudder soon enough! Are you a big slasher fan? Thanks for watching!
If the only novel thing is a camera angle behind and over the shoulder of the killer…. I’m sorry to say but that’s a pretty weak innovation. Nothing that would make any sensible person say “OMG!!! instead of a bunch of different camera angles falling a bunch of different people…. We have ONE…. That … uhhh…. Follows the monster around for the bulk of the movie.”
That is definitely something they do, but on paper it's not the only selling point of what should make it fresh (if they followed through with their vision, which I don't believe they do). Toward the beginning of the film, it really focuses on the killer more than I've seen any slasher film do before. Like I said though, I don't think they stick to their guns after a little while which makes this a frustrating experience...Thanks for watching!
IM LATE ON THE REVIEW SULLY, but when an expectation is set and doesn't produce it is HIGHLY disappointing, regardless of how the movie came out. period. Thank you for the review!
I dont go into slashers for the plot I go for the kills. I will check this out next week and Im still a bit excited.
As you should be, hopefully you get more out of it than I did! I'm curious to see what you think about it after you check it out. Thanks for tuning in, T!
Don't waste your time terrible I feel asleep it's was SOOO boring
I enjoyed it. I knew it was going to be an experimental immersive experience and didn’t expect much of a movie . It was a wild ride , I’d recommend if ur looking for a refreshingly different angle to the slasher movie !
I 100% agree with everything you said and gave the movie the same rating. Right down the middle on this one. I certainly hope more slasher movies use this premise because it was awesome but holy shit was this movie SOOOOOO FUCKING BORING!! Man I lost interest so many times only for the kills to bring me back in just to get bored for another 15 mins. Very frustrating movie
To me this is one movie all horror fans should watch. It's unique and I loved it but I also understand why people would hate it. It's one of those I can't predict how anyone will feel, even the comment section shows people opinions are all over the place and honestly, I think everyone's opinion is absolutely justified. I really wouldn't be able to tell any horror fan if they would like it or not and that's why I think they should watch. It's one of those movies that challenges the audience, not in a "It's such a smart challenging movie" but more in how would you feel if they followed Jason around for a movie? You might be surprised how you feel, I was surprised how much I liked it considering it was purposely tedious for stretches.
I give it a 6/10. It was pretty relaxing and I honestly thought the last 10 minutes were the only scary part of the film. Without that change in tone the film would not have been scary whatsoever.
I really didn't enjoy the way they decided to end the film, I glad you got a little bit more enjoyment out of it than I did though. Thanks for checking out the video!
I'm not a horror guy myself, but I saw the trailer for this a while back and I have to admit, that it peaked my interest. I haven't seen it yet, but I have seen that critics and audiences are not agreeing on it. Seems like a damn shame.
This movie's ass i just watched it and it has some interesting moments but it feels like one of those youtube horror movies that are around 8 mins but instead we've got ourselves a 1 hour and 30 mins long movie here
Loved it except the last 10 minutes. This is probably my favorite horror film of the year so far, followed closely by Late Night With the Devil and Immaculate. I’d put Abigail fourth.
Glad you dug this one a lot more than I did! I really did not enjoy how they decided to end this one, killed all of the momentum in my opinion. Now I need to know, what's your third favorite horror movie this year? Thanks for watching!
@@SullyStreams Immaculate
Hey have you seen a film called battleship do you ok that film is it fun
If you're referring to the one with Liam Neeson and Rihanna, I don't think I've ever seen it. Should I throw it on the watchlist?
Yeah you should I guarantee you will have fun with it it is Visually stunning and has an accurate depiction of battleships
This movie is a meandering mess...the kills were different and that's all....complete waste of time..
Meandering mess isn't a bad way of putting it...An artsy slasher that's totally from the perspective of the killer definitely intrigues me as a concept, but they didn't carry it out the way I had hoped. Thanks for watching!
2.5??? 🤔 I TOTALLY agree!!!💯💯💯 The first 45 minutes are torturously boring, but kudos to them sticking with practical FX
Honestly, the first 45 minutes of the film might have been my favorite. The execution began to fall apart after that in my opinion. Thanks for checking out the video!
2 1/2 is criminal! Between the creativity of camera angles and kills it deserves higher than that. You can tell this team knew their craft as every component of the film is far above what you see in most slasher films.
I don’t see how the minor pov switch prior to that artsy ending…the sopranos of a slasher is what I thought at the end was right on by this reviewer:
There is very little I can see in terms of a solution to his issue with pov switch. I barely noticed until the jarring finale and I think the way this film sprinkled out plot was always creative if sometimes a tad underwritten instead of giving characters a tad more ‘life’ .
The director is clearly a master behind the camera from all the unique and interesting elements he constructed in one of the most trope-filled, cliche-covered genres of film…but dialogue and character development are his weakest spots…not nearly enough for me to suggest avoiding it though.
The ending will put some off…but the goodies this film contained are worth the trip to a theatre if you value well made horro films. before a mysterious final scene that I will call nebulous’ to avoid spoilers…just try and remember that real life doesn’t always end with sexy finales.
I also heard the crew has. Mentioned intentionally doing things that will irritate audiences
💯 well said, very hyperbolic review
This was the most boring movie I've seen in my 15 years of living
@@anthonyshoop575 the issue I had was it still had to many parts that could have been cut out. The scenery was amazing but it's the exact same reason the revenant was boring. There's a bunch of plot holes and it really feels like a Friday the 13th made by temu. The last 15 mins were just painful to stay focused on. The kills themselves were what made the movie and the camera angles. Everything else fell flat. I def recommend watching it but most people will never revisit it or even make it threw the entire film.
First of all, the premise is really stupid. It's the locket which keeps the zombie at bay, essentially making anything its attached to become a prison. Someone steals the locket and frees the monster, and the first thing it wants to do is get the locket back so it can be imprisoned again? I'm sorry, what?
Good movie
Glad you dug it more than me!
Nooooooooo
I was so exited for this and then its just a wannabe friday the 13th
I got pretty frustrated with how the movie didn't fully commit to the artsy style by the end. But make sure to go check it out for yourself, there's a chance you might enjoy it more than I did. Thanks for watching, dude!
well you are so wrong. it got better and better and better.
Glad you enjoyed the movie a lot more than I did!
I don't even need to see it
It was pretty clear it was bad
Aren't you also a critic? The hypocrisy is strong with this one.
Interesting theory, Brad! It’s almost like critics get paid for their opinion and work for a media outlet, which I do not. I know putting yourself out there in the comments section can be really scary, so we all appreciate you giving it your best try!
This was absolutely the WORST movie I've ever seen I hate I wasted and hour and half of my time watching it 😮
Haha that's a very bold claim! It was a very mixed bag for me, pretty split down the middle on it. I thought it would be much more polished after all of the early reviews. Thanks for watching!
Yep. The last 10 minutes was poorly acted, pretentious cringe garbage.
Really not sure why they decided to end the film on that note, definitely left me with a frustrated feeling leaving the theater. I'm all for challenging the audience and leaving stuff up for interpretation, but that was kind of nonsensical. Thanks for watching, dude!
This movie is insanely boring
This movie sucked. good kills. stupid 3rd act
I didn't hate it, but it definitely wasn't executed nearly as well as I was hoping it would be. Thanks for watching!
It was absolute trash.
Haha I don’t think it was the worst thing ever, not even close to the worst movie of 2024…But man, they really botched a solid concept here. Thanks for watching!
The second he said Abigail is the best horror to come out this year, I discarded everything he said. that's a comedy, best horror by far has been "late night with the devil"
If you wanna be that much of a purist about what horror means to you, go right ahead. But Abigail is a very fun horror adjacent comedy. Late Night with the Devil is good but it didn’t push the envelope nearly as much as people advertised and left me wanting way more, loved David Dastmalchian finally getting a lead role worthy of his talents though!
❌So, he died as a little boy & then grew into a giant man while buried underground
What is he a potato 🥔⁉
I think he always was a giant man because after he died,.his father was killed by the loggers and he came back and ripped them all to pieces.
He just has a child like brain, possibly deformed in some way which is why they were cruel to him.
Or he's like Jason Vorhees who died as a child but came back as this giant demonic immortal hellspawn.
