Do you think Hollywood will learn from Godzilla Minus One, or will they take away the wrong lessons from it?
Hollywood must learn from its own films of the past, not from a foreign film with an industry that works differently.
Hollywood currently has its own Godzilla that works and respects the Toho films.
Great stuff, man! Godzilla Minus One respected the source material while adding a terrific story in between all the monster-related greatness. The film crew came out and thanked the fans and were very humble in their approach to the film. Movie PR firms should take a page from this and be more respectful to the material they are producing, and not automatically turn on the fans and blame them ad nauseam. Those tactics only sour people on the industry as a whole.
Couldn’t have said it better myself! Praying that Hollywood actually learns the right lessons from this one, but unfortunately we’ve seen what’s happened when they’ve been at a crossroads before…Thanks for watching, dude!
Wow, dude. That was an incredible video-essay. I couldn't agree more.
Thanks so much for watching, Tony!
Honestly glad this video didn't go out of its way to trash on the Monsterverse films. Pretty much any Godzilla fan will tell you there is merit in "a serious film with an allegorical villain" and "giant monsters go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr". Also, there's just the fact that without the Monsterverse films, Shin Godzilla and Godzilla Minus One would probably not exist. So good on you for not doing that.
Dude thank you for pointing that out! I wanted to make sure while I was writing this script that it was very clear that I enjoy both styles of Godzilla films even if I was comparing them to make a point here, so I'm glad that came across in the final product. Thank you for watching!

@@kasaibouF29If your definition of “trashing” the monsterverse is my pointing out the surface level differences between it and Godzilla Minus One, I don’t know what to tell you. One prioritizes being full of fun popcorn movies and the other is a devastating post-war drama, they both have their place in the industry!
Awesome video dude... I haven't seen Godzilla minus one yet but I'm definitely planning on it.
Thanks for watching, dude. Let me know what you think after you check this one out!
Superbly put, Sully. Many of our thoughts cross over and you deliver your points with such pazazz in the editing and commentary
Thanks so much for the kind words, Luk! This i a topic I've become pretty passionate about over the last couple of months. Thanks for watching!
Amazing video, Sully! Loved all of the points you brought up about this movie! Truly phenomenal what this movie has done for the box office!
Hey thanks so much for checking out the video, Mike! It’s really awesome to see how passionate the team behind this movie is and for them to be met with so much success. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
Godzilla needs to take a stroll through L A.
Great video! Good to see something new from you, and not "just" the movie reviews.
Thanks dude, definitely trying to switch it up every once in a while with a video essay. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Best movie of 2023.. studios need to stop throwing so much money behind these projects get newer faces if need be to keep those budgets down and people will go flock to see whatever product
My favorite movie of last year too! Completely agree, something has to be done because these modern day blockbuster budgets have ballooned to such an unsustainable amount. Put the right people in charge and give them enough time to do their thing, and we might be back on track soon!
Both sides of Godzilla have really left their mark
Godzilla Minus One was the biggest surprise hit of 2023
And Godzilla vs Kong was the first film in a post covid world to genuinely get people excited to see it
Both American and Japanese Godzilla understand the most important trait in the entertainment industry
And that's to he entertaining
Godzilla Minus One keeps you enthralled with a dark and tragic tale of people surviving a tragedy only to be befallen by another one
Godzilla vs Kong is an action film about a giant radioactive dinosaur facing a humongous monkey
But that's Godzilla. Entertainment at its purest.
Out of all the films to really send a message. I'm glad its Godzilla. Sometimes you have to have a giant monster come around to remind us how big the world really is.
A JEWEL of storytelling!
It really is, huh? This movie made me experience like 20 different emotions during its two hour run time. Thanks for watching, Daniel!
I had a day dream that featured Godzilla stomping through Hollywood,I think it’s suppose to represent how this movie figuratively stomped on every movie released in 2023 and Hollywood itself
That wasn't a dream, that actually happened haha
@@SullyStreams true true😂
Great video man couldn’t agree more and honestly would love to see Godzilla use a steel chair but minus one is really something else
Haha hey don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t mind seeing Godzilla in a ladder match either. Thanks for watching, dude!
Great video essay dude. Really well thought out and thoughtful. I do think the impact of the movies is minimal bevause its box office and mainstream impact is not as large as it feels. Once one of these type of films crack maybe 700 mill and casual movie goers are water cooling talking about it Hollywood will continue to do what they always do.
Thanks!
Dude thank you so much, you didn’t have to do that! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Absolutely loved it and loved Minus Color even more
I'm so bummed that I wasn't able to catch Minus Color in theaters, hopefully it's included with the 4k release!
@@SullyStreams it was amazing! my dad hadn’t seen it so i took him to see Minus Color and he loved it 🙂 the word of mouth on this crazy is wild - he wouldn’t have seen it otherwise but he thought it was great!
Thank you.Really.Thank you.
No thank YOU for watching!
A spiritual sequel to Oppenheimer and i can't wait for BluRay release. One major thing i don't understand from Toho studios is why oh why the film hasn't release at the rest of Asia yet!?
2K views but only 136 likes?
Something's wrong
Help your boy out!
@@SullyStreams sure
You should have mentioned that MonsterVerse doesn't operate on a tidal pattern like the MCU or Star Wars nowadays, considering that those IPs are cranking out subpar content. Legendary and Warner Bros. to know how to build anticipation.
You definitely have a good point there. I FAR prefer the way the monsterverse releases are handled from a scheduling perspective than how a lot of big marquee franchises do it!
I have to disagree with you on one thing... Endgame is a terrible film. It's not going to age well.
Wow, all talk and no substance.
Don’t think it would be possible to explain my points any further, sorry if you needed your hand held even more
Godzilla is a hero
He has my heart
