    What’s the best romantic comedy of the last ten years? I’m going with Palm Springs!

      One of my recent favourite romcom is the Anne Hathaway's The Idea of You. The storyline is a bit cliche, follows normal romcom formula but the chemistry is great and their romance is believable as far as the journey and growth these characters had however interesting thing is that they explore the ugly part of fan culture and these subplots should be portrayed more in media.
      Some people these days are getting too comfortable commenting on celebrity lives as if we have any right to it (the sense of ownership that fandoms culture cultivate is really astonishing in a bad way) unless ofc if it was clearly wrong like the age gap but in the movie, they're both consenting adults.

    You brought up a good point about the screenplay and how Joey King was trying to get a better script for the film within this film. Didn't even think about their own script!

    • @SullyStreams
      @SullyStreams  27 дней назад +1

      It came off as super ironic to me, since the actual script was far and away the worst part of the entire movie! Definitely not a good look considering the plot…What do you think the best romcom is? Thanks for watching, Justin!

    This made me so cringe, NKidman playing a 40 something ZE playing a 30 something, is NK falling for Tom again but being 70, the wigs are awful, the Botox everywhere

      Yeah not gonna lie, our two main love interests were looking a little plastic at times…Just an all around mess of a movie if I’m being honest. Do you have a favorite romcom? Thanks for watching, Blanca!

    I’m telling this movie did not do a great job with the writing. They tried to make the characters unlikable to each other just to create drama. The characters did not do a great job apologizing to each other. I think it should be Chris Cole to apologize first because first he treated Zara bad, he took the chat meeting with her mom too far trying to make himself look presentable in his suit and making it look like it’s date when it was supposed to be a chat meeting. The grandma for me went too far disrespecting Zara’s boundaries when she forced her mother to invite Chris Cole over for dinner. The movie sucks.

    • @sarahj30
      @sarahj30 8 дней назад

      I don’t think the grandma disrespected boundaries. Zara was the one policing everyone around her and needed to be put in her place a bit.

    I only tried watching because it seemed similar to “The Idea of You” which I really enjoyed. I could not finish this one. It was just not believable! Zero chemistry between those two.

    • @SullyStreams
      @SullyStreams  24 дня назад

      Yep there was no believable love story, the actors didn't have chemistry, and the characters weren't likable...They basically did everything you could possibly do wrong in a romcom. Thanks for checking out the review!

    Sheesh I'll probably skip this one unless I really need something at the end of the year to complete my goal of 100 2024 movies. How Harry Met Sally is probably my favorite rom com. I still need to see Ghost and Sleepless In Seattle though.

      I’ve never seen Ghost either, but I’ve always heard good things. Yeah this wasn’t offensively bad or smithing, but I would probably avoid it unless you’re at 99/100 on your 2024 movie challenge haha. Thanks for watching, Kenny!

      Five Stars for smithing. I agree with the points you brought up in your review. I am not a regular viewer of rom coms as there is so much available now because of Streaming. I cannot pick a favourite yet I will share the extreme joy the ending of A 40-YEAR OLD VIRGIN surprised me with; so much so that I recommend it to friends in my own category, "unexpected pleasures", GATTACA is that as well as there was no advance press on it when it was screened in a Belfast Northern Ireland Cinema. I find GATTACA such a awesome film that I could watch it this week and still feel the power it brought that first night after seeing it. (Subscribed)@SullyStreams

    Hi, great review! But.. How can you call it a rom-com? I haven't laughed once... the best work in this movie was done by plastic surgeon... the writing - so basic it hurts. Good rom-com for me was/is Lost City with Bullock.

    • @SullyStreams
      @SullyStreams  16 дней назад +1

      True, them calling this one a rom-com is a little bit of a stretch by definition when there's not much comedy to be had...I definitely enjoyed The Lost City more than I was expecting to too, can never doubt the star power of Sandra Bullock. Thanks for checking out the review!

    Was not a fan of this one, it wasnt funny and Nicole Kidman was more of a mother to him that a girlfriend. Kathy Bates is the best thing in the movie for sure. Joey King was insufferable. Best recent romcom to me is Always Be My Maybe with Randall Park and Ali Wong, I absolutely love that movie. Loved Palm Springs too such a great movie as well.

    THE MOVIE IS NOT FUNNY AND MUCH LESS ROMANTIC, THE COUPLE DOESN'T HAVE ANY CHEMISTRY...WHEN CHRIS LOOKS AT BROOKE HE SEEMS TO BE LOOKING AT HIS MOTHER OMG...24 YEARS OLD DAUGHTER FREAKING OUT ABOUT HER MOTHER LOVE/SEX LIFE IS RIDICULOUS. ..WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER CHRIS HAVING ROMANCE WITH ZARA NOT WITH BROOKE...LOOKING AT ALL THE FILLERS(HYALURONIC ACID) AND BOTOX ON NICOLE AND ZAC'S FACE GAVE ME CHILLS...ANYWAYS I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

  • @sas3790
    @sas3790 25 дней назад +3

    The movie wasn’t good and the hardest part was trying to get past looking at Nichole kidman’s horrible plastic surgery…WTH
    I couldn’t get past the crazy looking lips and fluffed face! Age gracefully like most people where you look NATURAL and normal. And the performance was stiff and lackluster for me, nothing exciting. And Zack is just as bad with the crazy plastic surgery…geez why pay money to look so fake, distorted and unrecognizable.
    This movie for me was a waste of time that I couldn’t even stomach to the end with actors I love and enjoy…just my opinion

      @@SullyStreams I know Nicole is 57 and has been touched by an angel... her forehead doesn't move... chipmunk-like cheeks... and Zack with his jaw and cheek fillers... I'm not against plastic surgery but if the story were any good one wouldn't even think about their appearance. I guess they've figured - good money without much effort... Even Cathy Bates seemed to be embarrassed to be there... the best acting we got was from the daughter and her friend... !

    I think Joey King's character was being way too insensitive and .....well like you said not written well. It was funny at 1st but the more she kept trying to ruin it for her mom was too much. It's like they started writing it for a 24 year old and as the movie progressed they forgot and thought she was 12.

    romcoms just shouldnt be PG-13 because whyyy are we making hallmark movies for netflix

    • @SullyStreams
      @SullyStreams  28 дней назад

      I think romcoms can still be made effectively with a PG13 rating, but I still agree with you. As time goes on, the new ones I enjoy the most are when they lay into being raunchy (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Palm Springs, Knocked Up, etc). Here's to hoping they make a comeback...Do you have a favorite one? Thanks for watching!

    I literally had to pause this movie at the Christmas dinner scene cause I simply couldn’t believe what I was watching.
    I’m all for suspension of disbelief when watching movies but my god, this can’t even compute in my head (both the plot and character motivations).
    It’s like doing a second play-through on an RPG decision game and you decide to just choose all the worst possible dialogue options, just to see how weird the story would turn out.
    I don’t even blame the writer, director or actors for this, I blame the editor that didn’t even ask why all the characters are written with 0 emotional intelligence.
    Just sad.
