Garden progress and precious forest finds | Life on a small farm in Central Europe
Planting a hedge along the fence in the garden has been one of our priorities since the start. Now, a few years later, we can see clear progress that we're excited to show you 😊 It's been raining quite regularly this summer, so we went to the woods hoping to find some mushrooms, and the results exceeded our expectations 😍

Disaster in our garden (again) | Real life on a small farm in Central Europe
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.День назад
It seems like every year new kinds of pests find something delicious in our garden. This time we found our gooseberry shrubs with almost no leaves left after they were attacked by an invasion of caterpillars. But fortunately, we have a lot of different types of fruits growing in the garden, so there's still a lot to harvest. We also have a lot of new flowers which help make this summer colourfu...

Apocalypse in our garden | We suffered heavy losses (Life on a small farm in Europe)

When we saw our garden in bloom several weeks earlier than usual, we were excited but worried at the same time. We knew frosty nights could come and destroy everything. We were really hoping they wouldn't, but they did. Sadly, the damage is visible on most fruit trees and shrubs. Not everything was destroyed though, and thanks to the warm weather, we already have first fruit to taste. Subscribe...

I have the same problems with bird go wild in digging my garden and my new planted pot
Lovely stuff. I guess you are botanists, geologists or both ?! Surprised at the graffiti though.
🇲🇽👋Saludos de Mexico🤗. What a terrific idea to make your hedge out of a whole variety of shrubs and trees, so much better than putting the same plant. And of course my personal favorite, Peter the chef😋. We love Tommy and Peter💕💕
the longer hair is much more attractive
I love your hikes!! Love it when you are out enjoying nature even though I am one of those female, grandmother's viewers. There has not been one, single video I haven't thoroughly enjoyed.
Seriously, you are so cute together and your interaction with each other is great and playful. You are both becoming so natural at it.
Please don't stop....we love your channel.
You two and your channel have come a long way. You've grown in to it and are excellent editors of your videos. They always flow smoothly, always interesting and entertaining. We are fortunate that you are continuing with them. As Peter would say, "Yay!"
Very nice update, gentlemen !
I really enjoyed this video for the comunication and your brother seems really cool 👍✌️
Když si vzpomenu na vaše začátky, ten progres na vaši zahradě je top! Strašně si cením tvůrců, kteří mají tady tento odpočinkový "slow down" vibes content. Závidím a fandím vám, užijte si léto! F
This is first video im watching, and i feel like im an allien in your world, or you having 1m followers so you are so comfedent to start video out of the sudden, where ever you have stoped before. Its missing the whole part of the intoduction.
Our channel is actually quite a mess, haha. It's a mix of our calm garden vlogs and our travel vlogs (where we mostly hike in nature and search for secluded places). Time spend in the garden is a neverending process, there isn't one definitive goal (it's not homestead restorations or something where they build a house), we simply enjoy the plants, fruits, veggies, we cook, bake and like to share it with people who might enjoy similar things. Not sure what we would say in the introduction. It's just what it is, slow vlogs of our life at the country house.
I cant imagine Prince Harry with an american accent .
So why are you speaking english ? 😂❤
Love seeing the meadows of Wildflowers ! Like to think some of them were from the 'bombs' I sent. Nice ending with the campfire & a glass of Wine.
Some wildflowers definitely could be from that. We are happy there are various kinds. Thanks 😊
It is horrible when parents say that it is our choice ❤
Yeah, so sad... Luckily it all worked out fine in the end, but those times were hard.
Your "garden" is turning into an estate!😊
Thanks 😊 We want it to be our slice of nature at home 💚
What you call dustballs we call puff balls...and have a lot of them in California. We have chanterelles and morels in our redwood forest. I've never seen Oak Mushrooms before, but they look fantastic. You are great foragers!
Thank you 😊 Puff balls are so nice, and we were happy when we found the giant one on the field road. There should also be chanterelles and morels growing here, but they are quite rare, harder to find. We found one morel growing in our garden last year and it was delicious 😁
Guys, I am shocked at how huge parts of the are. I remember you planting the little ones all over. It’s going to be amazing in another year or two. Boy we are getting old
Hi Greg, we are also always shocked when we see pictures or videos from the first year. There were no shrubs or anything, and when we later started planting, they were so tiny. We are all getting old pretty fast 😀
A perfect fire to end the video.
Glad you liked it 😊
I am glad you showed us what you use the mushrooms in cooking.
It is an easy and yummy way to prepare them 😊
You two are so cute.
Thanks 😁
Remind me of Vangaze, two guys moved from Netherlands to a french farm they are restoring.
So nice. They certainly have a bigger task on their hands with all the restorations, and we concentrate more on our garden, fruits, veggies. But life in the countryside in general is so pleasant 😊
I can feel your energy 😊 I'm also eating my mushrooms your way, good to know, yummy. Hope your hedge are growing fast, privacy is important 😊 you guys have a great weekend. Till I see you again, good luck🎉
Thank you. Mushrooms with eggs are so tasty 😊 Have a great weekend too 😉
Loved your choice of music for the romantic fire and wine ending to the video. Thanks, guys❤.
Thank you. It was such a nice evening 😊
Your mushroom scrambled eggs look delicious, Peter. ❤ I mentioned to my husband that I never thought of adding mushrooms to our omelets. He gave me a dirty look! (he's not fond of mushrooms...) 😆
You need to try it when he is not home, haha. It is really good and something that people here make quite often 😁
Peter, the egg/mushroom ensemble looked delicious. It's great you are able to forage from the forest and harvest your fresh greens from your garden.
Yummy dinner from the forest and the garden 😊
Yes, Peter, that color of begonia is simply gorgeous and I've never seen such large blossoms like that! Would you call thar color "salmon" or what?
Yeah, some kind of orange, could be called salmon 😊
❤️❤️❤️
Lovely to see your garden is maturing and the mushrooms harvest was great, you both must be so happy you took the challenge to buy the property and look back to see how far you have come, well done you guys ❤️
Thank you. We really are happy when we are in the garden and when we see how everything is growing 😊💚
Well done fellas..Looking productive for sure.. Kindness your way..Lochness Scottish Highlands..
Thank you, Neil 😉
All your work is paying off with a beautiful garden/hide away. Congratulations!
That you. Yeah, all the work is definitely worth it when we see the results 😊
Been a while, catching up. Surgery 26 and 27 finish. Love you 😍 guys ❤❤❤❤❤
Hopefully you'll feel better. We are sending positive energy, Kristine 😉
Two Little Riding Hoods with their baskets collecting mushrooms in the forest. I can't deny that I find it sweet but at the same time it makes me nervous. What if by mistake you pick some poisonous ones? I almost prefer to eat flowers!!! Lol. I know, I know, I'm a dramatic person. The warm lyrics of that beautiful song "Oh, dandelion", that lit bonfire and that summer night, an impressive closing for your video. What else? Until next time, "mushrooms hunters". Super thumb up.
Hi Liliana, it would be fun to see your reaction to a meal made of mushrooms and flowers, haha 😀 We only pick such mushrooms which we know 100%. You can't take anything you are not certain of. Mushroom hunting in the Czech Republic has a long tradition, and some kinds of mushrooms are really well known. Glad you liked the song at the end of the video. We enjoyed the evening by the fire 😊
The garden is soooo beautiful and restful. You are both looking good. Prayers and Blessings to you both.
Thank you 😉
Love to see how the garden is coming along. In years to come when you are completely secluded you'll be able to look back at these videos to remember how it all started out. The nettle watering must take a very long time but the more love you give your plants, the more they will reward you ❤
Thank you! 😉 We can't wait to see how the garden looks in 5 years or so. Hopefully green walls everywhere 💚 We've noticed that the plants really like the nettle compost tea and they grow better, so its worth it 😊
I liked the longer hair on Peter and the face fur. I kept expecting him to brush hair out of his eyes like some movie star. 😊 Then it got shorter! My problem with hedges is that they eventually get garbage trees in them and it is a never ending task to keep them out.
The hair always changes, but it was still the same length in the video. It's just sometimes I use a comb and style it a bit 😀 We wouldn't mind other trees in the hedge, because our garden is natural, and we don't care that much if there are other things growing in the green wall. We have space for it, so that is definitely an advantage 😊
The garden and meadow are looking wonderful! The hard work over the years is paying off!
Thank you. We love seeing the progress 😊
Great video Guys ..i make the nettle tea ..and i agree about the smell🤣 but its realy good for the plants
Thank you, Simon. Great that you agree with the smell, haha 😀😀
I like your garden
We are happy to hear that, thanks 😊
Hi
Maybe plant some kiwi fruit also
We did! But it is still tiny. It's a mini kiwi with small fruits, the only one that we can grow in our climate 😊
@@tommyandpeter it's normally takes 3 to 5 years to produce better size fruit
Beautiful and peaceful xx
Thank you 😉
Pretty soon you'll be able to cut the grass in the nude
Yay, exactly what we hope for 😁😀
🥂 much LOVE ❤ from Sunny Spain 🌞🥵
Hi Paul, thank you 😊😎
🌼
Wow so awesome like always the garden is beautiful have a nice day lovely couple
Thank you, happy you liked it 😊
3:58 I know you guys probably already know this but when you have a lot of grass clippings decomposing they take away nitrogen as they rot. Soil doesn't gain nitrogen until after they are composted. All the plants would grow much faster with some sort of free nitrogen added to the soil. It doesn't look like the grass is ever fully composted because it grows so fast.
Oh and love the shorts!
That's interesting and not what we experience here in the garden. Because we grow pumpkins and zucchinis in these piles of old grass clippings and the plants grow amazing (very fast and big), and these plants love rich soil full of nutrients. Doesn't look like they miss something. The grass clippings are decomposing gradually, so it must be enough 🤷 Glad you liked the shorts 😁
Wonderful tour, and nice progress. Saskatoon Berries are named such as a marketing move. I don't know how well it works in Saskatoon, but there are several species, including one native to Europe. It would be interesting to plant a mix of them. They are sometimes called Shadblow. 'Blow is an old English word for tree blossoms, and Shad are a fish related to salmon. The name comes from the fact the trees blossom at the same time the shad begin swimming up the rivers.
Thank you, that is so interesting about saskatoon berries or shadblows 😊
Fascinating meadow tour! I enjoy seeing the plants. I Lear a lot seeing you gathering, cooking and eating the bounty of the forest and garden. Every time I see elderberries here in the USA I think of Peter and Tommy in Czechia! 😊
Thank you 😉 So cool with the elderberries, haha. We love them 😁
