  • It's time to work on our garden pond! You've already seen us dig up the hole and put the pond form in. Now we have all the necessary material to put in the pond and fill it with water. Let's also add some water plants to make it look pretty 😊

    You two have the most beautiful country garden. You both should be so proud of all you've accomplished in such a short time. And the variety of tulips you have are fantastic! 👏 Bravo.

      We can't wait either. But it should get even better in a few years 😊

    Don't forget to add some fish which will help control mosquitoes. They also sell solar powered fountains. That will help bring air and movement to the pond which will also help the plants and the fish waste will also help to feed plants

      Thanks for the tips 😉 In the meantime we've already bought such small solar fountain.

    Likes amazing. You MUST put in a plank of wood so that any animals/insects that fall in have a way to get out

    Hey guys. It's great to see the pond coming together! In our pond I took some styrofoam that was bucket shaped, wrapped it in burlap and filled it with dirt. We planted rhubarb in the middle and strawberries all around. We let it float around in the pond and it's been like that for 4 years now. It is so happy! The roots grow through the styrofoam into the water helping to keep the water clear. Our fish nibble on the strawberries that hang over the edge.

      @tommyandpeter  2 месяца назад

      Wow, that is such an interesting area! It's like a floating magical island 😁 We would say that our pond is too small for that though because the rhubarb would cover all of it in some time...

    That purple flowers look amazing so many sure lots of bees would love that - your farm is animal (insects) friendly and the pond look amazing so far - good just you two busy bees 💯💙💙

    Really interesting guys. Building a 'natural' environment seems a lot of work and learning. You'll do all the research though and find out what works for you...and it'll be fun to find out ❤

    Hello T& P. The pond looks lovely and comming along nicely! P.s. Don't plant/ submerge your plants to deep in the pond... they might die or not grow. Maybe try between 30 and 50 cm as the plant is still small. Take care and happy gardening ❤

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you 😊 The deepest part is only 60 cm, so the water lily is ok. In the meantime, some of the leaves have already reached the surface 😉

    Thanks for sharing😊 The pond is taking shape…I do not have a pond or want one ( I hate mosquitoes ), but after looking at your pond project, I think maybe in the future, you may want to elevate your pond on a large mound with space for a small deck ? Something to think about …❤

    I had a beautiful pond in my back yard,it was made of fiberglass, there were rock like stones surrounding it.I ran a pvc pipe with a electrical wire in it for a pump I had in it,it would shoot water up about 2 feet up in the air, I had different kinds of fish in it,it was surrounded with monkey grass.at one time frogs would lay their eggs in it and it was fill of tadpoles.The city run over it and destroyed it while working on the sewage line that run across my property:(

    Good idea about the pond guys. I don't know if your climate will be appropiate but there are two floating aquatic plants very beautiful: Lotus flower and Royal Victoria.( victoria regia).
    I hope that those you have chosen grow as you wish. They will add glamor to the environment.
    Until next time sweeties.

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 месяца назад +1

      The water lily that we put in the deepest part of the pond is the lotus flower 😊 We'll see when it flowers but we already can't wait for the glamor 😁 Sadly Royal Victoria is not suitable for here, but oh well. See you in another video, Liliana 😉

    I get the impression that maybe you should have washed off the bottom rocks before putting them into the pond form. Live and learn. It will eventually settle out anyway.

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 месяца назад

      The dirt from the rocks settled, so it was ok. It was just remnants of soil and sand on the rocks, so that's ok. Organic stuff would be worse, because it promotes the growth of green algae. We will explain in the future.

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you 😊 We've never heard of this plant! Sounds so interesting, but from what we've read, it prefers streaming water, like a creek, small river or something like that. But we'll see, it would be fun 😁

    Fantastic project and I know with your care it will flourish! I am wondering how it will fare with harsh winters, freezing, etc.?

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you 😊 Nothing should really happen in winter - the surface will freeze over during the frosty periods, but it's expected and the plants should be ok. But we'll see, of course, how it will be in reality 😁
