- We had to act fast after our garden frogs spawned in an old bucket full of rain water and not in my lovely nature pond beside it! Luckily I was able to get my hands on a @BlagdonWaterGardening No dig nature pool to put them in.

Keeping the water moving also helps keep the amount of mosquito larvae in the pond down. If it just sits stagnant it'll just be a mosquito breeding ground.

I decided to make a wildlife pond last year. I was actually able to order a 300 litre solid freestanding pond online. It was delivered within days. The bloke delivering it wondered what on earth it was. I put pebbles on the bottom & ordered over hang baskets which allowed for shallow planting. I’ve got logs stacked up on one side to allow access for frogs etc. It was so easy to do & so satisfying. It is teaming with tadpoles this year. Every garden needs a water feature.
WOW! You have super brilliant momma frogs. They knew not to lay their babies in the beautiful big nature torture trap. LOL

Ya ,I live in alaska and the snow is melting and it is pretty warm 50 degrees Fahrenheit every day but the sun is soo intense this time of year that it felt like 70 degrees,but I am still super jealous 😊

We made a raised pond ourselves out of decking boards, lined in polyestrine with a proper pond liner and filter. We keep goldfish in it and they are doing really well. It has been up and going for 4 years now.

I have had tadpoles in my rain barrels and other things that hold water! I was a foster mom to the tadpoles, and fed them fish food from Walmart. Now I make sure I cover my water containers!
I love the focus on providing habitat and food for many different types of organisms to support a whole ecosystem!

Wow, Matt, that thing is so awesome. I love that pond and how brilliant of an idea. Such a simple thing and it's nothing huge and can go in just about any size yard. This is definitely one of my favorite things you've done. I loved seeing fish shop Quinn also! He's so big and he seemed like he was some help, too :) Love seeing you do things with your family. We just moved house and have several acres. In the front yard, there are several cacti. I want to build a succulent Zen garden with a pond. I will be doing this since my fiance's honey do list is already a mile long. I can do this by myself. I love your videos Matt. Keep up the good work.

Ah, for floating plants, I love to put amazon frogbit in the tub, once the water temps are in the cozy zone they grow well in the aquarium, and explode when given direct sunlight for even a small portion of the day

Just watched the video with my Wife and we'd love to have a mosquito trap with moving water and damsel flies or dragon flies. Also something for the birds to drink from(Dogs are going for it too) . Johnny, the trick is to get the feeders out there in the backyard. If you have them they will come Canada has some cold winters as well. Sometimes down to mines 25. I start putting them out now end of March beginning of April you might not get them right away but they will come keep those feeders out there the magic recipe to get them to come is one cup sugar, 4 cups boiling, hot water Put them out in the backyard and they will come sometimes it takes a while. Good luck my friend.

I was looking at this pond the other day on amazon as my youngest asked if we could get a pond, your timing could not have been better. My patio could do with a nice little feature. Will definitely look at this one at my local aquatics shop when i next visit.

Something similar happened to me a couple of years ago. Frogs eggs in a pot plant tray. Made an emergency pond from an old hard plastic kiddie pool plus rocks, wood and plants. Still going strong! The antler fern has taken over, and I still keep getting new batches of tadpoles. Only problem is the red bellied black snakes seem to be checking it out now.

one thing,,, The planting pocket could be lined with something and it can be filled with sand ...i read somewhere that a "butterfly and bee watering station" or "butterfly puddler" is a good thing.
I did this in a whiskey barrel with a pond liner in it. A raccoon found it and ate my gold fish 😮😅

I have a couple small ponds, contained eco-systems. We should all give it a try. Have you ever considered mosquito minnows? Also so true regarding allowed plants, check with your location as I've know nurseries to sell plants that are not safe for the environment.
