Nice build! The little frog house was a nice touch too
I like the mini bog filter -- thanks for showing how you did that!
Thank you, I’m glad it was helpful! 👍
It’s brilliant! It’s inspiring me to buy a new pond liner, I’ve got a 50 litre one but I want to move up in the world. Thanks for the inspiration :)
underrated video. i rarely watch through a full pond or aquarium build on many channels! you put in a tonne of effort that was awesome
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I had good experiences with the following technique with premade ponds.
Dig the hole a little bit bigger, level the plastic bin, on a sand bed, fill the pond half way up with water and then use a water/sand/earth slurry to fill up the gap between the pool and the ground sounding it. The gap will be perfectly closed.
Then fill up the pool completely and repeat with the sand or mud slurry.
It's a quick method.
Thanks for the tips, I’ll defo put them to use if I do another of these preformed ponds!
Love how natural you made that area 👌 would love to do something like this for my backyard one day
Thank you! You should do it!! 👊
looks amazing cant wait to build a wildlife pond in the future!
Thank you!
Looks really good, love the way you show it step-by-step 👍🏻
Thank you!
Lovely build!
Thank you, mate! How’s your ponds doing this season?
The pups are always so good at supervising ehh? lol
You shoulda kept the sink and hung it on the wall and made a waterfall out of it😀😀👍👍
Super fun project Ginger Fishy…..we hope you get some lovely little amphibious creatures in there to enjoy and observe….for sure you will with that inviting area you’ve made em!!
Thank you! Yeah, I do think that sink is just screaming out to be some sort of water feature! 🌿👊
This is a fantastic video, really well done! 🐸
Thank you! 👊
Love this. Your videos are, without exception, excellent. Please keep them up!
Thank you, mate. I really appreciate that! 👊
I can’t believe I hadn’t subscribed to you. Your diy pond and filter gave me the idea for my pond! Looks amazing!!
Thank you, bro! 👊

viewer from the Philippines🇵🇭
Thank you!
i love this channel and all your projects. there is only 1 downfall and its a huge downfall by the way.. there just isnt enough videos 😉 please keep them coming alot more often mate.. GREAT WORK AGAIN!!!
Thank you, mate! I shall try!! 😁👊
Looks so awesome. Where do you get so many aquatic plants??? Excited to see the update later on!
Thank you! Luckily I have a couple of really good pond shops fairly close to me that always have plenty of plants to choose from!
I think every pond should have water spinach. You can eat it 😂
Enjoyed watching you, on how this all came together. Any other life form in the pond that you have noticed?
Thank you! Just a few water bugs and snails currently. Would love to see some newts in there one day though!
Thank you for helping wildlife, but if a turtle gets in there he might drown. There's no gradual slope for escape.
Hi there, we don’t have turtles here, but good call, I should have probs mentioned that for people in areas that do. I do agree though that a gradual slope is probably better for a wildlife pond generally, even if you don’t have turtles.. in this case though I thought with the pond being so small I didn’t want to take up too much space with a ramp. 🌿🐢
wow!! great job man, beautiful plants and love your channel, very simple and creative ..just thinking during heavy rains how would you get rid of excessive water?
Thankyou! Yeah, the edge of the pond has little grooves around it, which I think is for overflow, and I’m hoping any excess water can be soaked up by the plants around the pond. I’ll see how it goes though. I’m actually just in the process of adding an overflow pipe to my big pond that I built last year, which I’ll be showing in the 1 year update video.
Another great Video and gives me an idea for a pending bog filter.
How do you stop the slugs destroying your Hostas? I have terrible trouble with this in my garden.
Thank you! It’s the first time I’ve had hostas in my garden, but I’m hoping the resident toad, and hopefully any future frogs will help keep the slug population down!
☺
Great informative video. I was nailed to watching everything you shared here 😂. Great job 👏
I was wondering though, I've got an enclosed fenced garden: if I did something like that, how would wildlife get into my garden for such a pond 😮? Or wouldn't it 🤔?
Many thanks for giving me ideas, particularly as to what plants (I've never heard of 😅) I might be advised to invest in ❤
Hi there! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!! Yeah, if there’s no gap under the fence some wildlife will struggle to find the pond.. obviously dragonfly and birds will be able to enjoy it still.. I know some people try to leave a gap somewhere along the fence line to help wildlife move around, luckily for me there is a gap under my gate, so the toad must have come in there. You never though, a bird might drop off a bit of frogspawn for you!!
Yeah, I think all the plants I used are either evergreen or perennial, apart from the water lettuce which won’t survive the winter here in the UK, so I’ll have to remove it when the temps start to get too low. 😊
@GingerFishyOfficial Wow- that's such a GREAT amount of GOOD information 👌. Thank you.
I know I've got a frog 🐸 in my garden (somewhere): him must have hid in the flowers/plants I had in my old koi pond at our old place (16 years ago). So despite the amount of renovations I've had, carried out to the garden areas, it's a miracle he's still alive. You should have heard him in Feb/April calling for a mate 😀.
So another reason: to encourage the dragonflies back. We used to have quite a few, but the last couple of years, not so much.
Anyway, many thanks for your prompt response and further suggestions: really helps 👍
Not sure about the plants you used, but if this is a wildlife pond, you should think about using all native plants.
Always someone who nitpicks at a minor detail instead of appreciating the beauty of all the hard work that was put into it.
Did a pond like this 1 year ago. All was well frogs already…now pea soup. Little miss got 2 fish. Should I put the plants in with just gravel? ( solar pump filter with same set up as you)🤷🏻♂️
Yeah, could try putting plants in just gravel to help with excess nutrients? Whats the sun situation like? Is the pond in full sun? And have you still got fish in there?
@@GingerFishyOfficial 2 fish in shade??
@@stujo718 yeah, must be an excess nutrients issue then, so getting a few plants going that are planted in gravel could well help. Also, if you can get hold of some hornwort, that’s real good for nutrient export.
