      Thank you. We've read a lot about the potatoes in straw or hay and it could be really nice. We'll see how it goes in our garden, as there are always some problems with everything, but hopefully it will work out fine. There are positive signs from previous years 😊

    Lovely, guys. There is something called Mosquito Dunks if you have a problem with mosquitos in the pond. They are made of a bacteria that is not harmful to plants or animals.

      Thanks for the tip. No problems with mosquitos yet. We'll see how it goes but their larvae are on the lowest in the food chain, so even water bugs and such like to eat them. We need various wildlife in the water and it should be ok 😊

    What a lovely spring for your garden. In the desert 🌵where I live the fruit trees bloomed in late February, and now in early May we are usually in the low 30Cs . The last of the snow is melting off the high mountain peaks as we prepare for the very hot weather. I look forward to your continued progress and new videos of your garden and country home Tommy and Peter 👋🏻👍❤️

    Those flowering fruit trees contrasting with that blue sky take my brearh away because of the beauty.
    Fingers crossed a meteorological "black swuan" will not appear and produce a catastrophe, as Peter said.

    What a contrast from winter to spring. Your garden is truly beautiful with all the colorful flowers. I especially like the fritillaries. Am not familiar with them. They are so colorful and unusual looking. All of your flowers are very nice. The addition of a pond will really add to the beauty. The wood chipper will come in handy and useful. What an unusual salad with linden leaves. Thank you for sharing. Take care. Tony

    Don't forget to get some guppies or beta fish to help control mosquitoes in your new pond. You can get gold fish but they will make pond water dirty. During your cold winters just lay some plywood over pond with hay bales so water won't freeze solid. The fish will survive

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 месяца назад +1

      We are not sure about fish, because when one feeds them and also when they poop in the water, it adds a lot of nutrients to the water and algae can grow a lot. We need to figure everything out, water plants and so on. We are learning as we go, so we'll see what happens 🙃

    • @marktitus8516

    Guys, the garden looks so great! I think you've seen our spring bulb flowers here in Australia so you know that I just love them - that new bulb flowers garden you've planted will just get better and better. Here's hoping the frost stays away for you. Be sure to enjoy every second of Spring. 🙂

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes, the bulb flowers in your garden are so pretty 😊 We are looking forward to ours getting better. We just hate the grass in the most parts of our garden - it's such a terrible thick agressive variety, it wants to overgrow everything and so hard to get rid of. We try to mulch, but it can be a fight 😀 Luckily tulips and daffodils are faster than the grass, so it's ok for them 😊 Thank you 😉

    • @richardsilver98
      @richardsilver98 2 месяца назад

      @@tommyandpeter ahhh.....how interesting perspective is - see, I was thinking "I wish we had lovely thick grass like that!" Our sheep would make short work of it. I highly recommend sheep if you can have them.

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 месяца назад

      Haha, you wouldn't want this one! It's not a normal one, it cuts your skin when you touch it and it grows in these terrible clusters (not evenly covering the soil like normal grass), ugh 😀

    Thanks for sharing😊…I see that the LARGEST cherry tree is Queen of the garden…I would love to go camping with Peter because he knows the weather and many edible plants to eat in the wild…I may try to plant potatoes like you guys do, looks interesting….The new pool install looks a bit “ shallow “ for diving into? It is quite fun to forage various plants in the wild. But one really has to know them, there is no room for mistakes. We'll see how it goes with the potatoes, hopefully well, but you never know here in our garden. From what we've read it looks promising, we've also seen positive glimpses in the garden. See you next time and no worries 😉

    Nice garden bath tub :) Plans to avoid the mosquitoes? Dragonflies are great, but not sure if your pond is deep enough for them?

    • @tommyandpeter
      @tommyandpeter  2 месяца назад

      We don't have that many mosquitoes here and there are already two ponds on the neighboring property. It seems fine, so it should be ok here too. Apparently ther larvae are on the lowest places in the food chain and even water bugs and similar creatures eat them, so we hope various wildlife will move here and it will be all balanced. It's just a small pond, to attract frogs for example. We love the idea of a bit of water in our garden, it brings more life 😊
