my homies were on this show. They were all actually friends (even the bully) and they all made like 5 grand each and the bully got whatever he got from the show + an initial pay out for even showing up on camera. That's actually how it worked; I was once almost casted on NEXT and they told me that there was a correlative amount between screentime and how much you'll get paid out.
The reason adult bullies aren't common is because it's no longer treated like "bullying" and is literally just assault and battery at this point, so they take more subtle measures that people don't really notice or care about as much. lol
@breademojiwheatemoji4003 That's so real. Kids getting seriously abused by their peers and the advice is jUsT iGnoRe tHeM. As if they would ignore another adult physically attacking them and/or psychologically abusing them every day. You're trapped while you're in school. Some bullying is genuine abuse that would be illegal if an adult did it.
Man, at one point as a young adult I'm pretty sure I was a bully sometimes and didn't realize it. Mostly like taking jokes too far and not recognizing that the other person isn't having fun like I was.
As someone living halfway across the globe I love it when I watch a video by an American/Canadian creator and they say "I'm coming to a city near you!" No brother you are not 😭
So true. Where did they get the pictures of the bullies shirtless anyway? it's not like the bully wants the world to know what his abs look like (or maybe he does)
One detail I love about the production of this show was most of the "bully/victim" pairings were really just friend groups consisting of two skinny guys and one muscular guy. I've seen interviews with these some of them years later where they revealed they were cool with each other the entire time. It turns out it's very hard to find many adult human beings no matter how dorky or out of shape that have a genuine bully.
9:56 he said, "Do you punk 'em?" and i swear i heard "Do you fuck 'em?", which made the part about him being bashful n whatnot all-the-more entertaining lol.
i will always cherish and favor kurtis' more long-form investigative videos but its always fun and refreshing to see kurtis go back to his roots and laugh at goofy shows. every kurtis video is a positive experience
As far as I know, it only becomes illegal when it's discriminatory against a person with a minority status. You also need proof that it's happening, and that can be hard to manage. Especially with the 'plausible deniability' harassment that adults do to each other.
Years ago, when my friend and I were stuck in the Nevada desert and out of gas, we spent an entire night and half a day camped out in my car, begging for anyone to stop and help us. One person out of the many that passed was kind enough to pick us up, drive us miles down the road to get gas, and back to my car. That person was a young Mayhem Miller. I still think about his kind gesture to this day.
The Barbie “balls” sound effect lives in my head rent free so much so now every time I say it I hear the eco of Barbie saying “balls”. I was teaching a small class and our activity was to make seed balls and all I could hear in my mind was that damn sound effect as I spoke😂
For those who aren’t in the mma space Jason Mayhem Miller was a legit great fighter but he was a loose cannon. But at one point he was one of the best fighters in the world
I love MMA, nothing but respect, but you gotta be at least a little not right in the head to be a champion, as these dudes keep proving on the regular.
Yeah, it was a massive bummer. The only good thing to come out of it was those mugshots, the fact that they get progressively crazier is so apt. But he was so incredible, it sucks that he just fell so far. I’m glad he’s doing better now, because his whole downfall was just tragic, it wasn’t like it was just him being an ass, he was genuinely unhinged for a decent chunk of time.

Workplace bullying/assault is absolutely a thing, it is just isn't always the physical kind. In fact, don't think any of my bullies in school ever actually beat me up, but they were verbally abusive and isolating. The closest I got to being physically bullied was when the guy took the container of rhino beetles my brother and I had been keeping as pets (keeping them as pets was a massive thing at the time in school).
I think thats also why bullying gets so little attention than it actually deserves, the same with verbal abuse. It’s “hard to prove” and since you are not physically hurt then it “couldn’t be that bad”. Bullies know that and use it to their advantage, thats why I wholeheartedly believe that verbal abuse is much more dangerous than people give it credit. Its not helped by the fact that most depictions of bullying on tv is always the physical type.
Dude, it's still taking me like 7 years to admit that I was bullied...because I wasn't hurt physically. Because bullying to me was always... pushing people and hurting them...or perhaps it's my ego, but a lot of people don't even realise they're being bullied.
wrote my thesis on this. Even though physical bullying is taken more seriously by many, more psychological forms of bullying such as isolating someone or attacking their self-worth, humiliating them, ignoring them, spreading gossip and so on is as, if not even more mentally harmful. These more "indirect" forms of bullying as well as the physical ones can have a deep and long-lasting impact on your self-concept, the way you interact with others and can lead to and maintain symptoms of mental illness.
Definitely. Workplace bullying is unfortunately pretty common. The word "bullying" feels so diminishing though, when it's actually very serious stuff like isolation, negligence, manipulation, constant belittling etc... Just like kids, adult can get severely traumatized by this kind of treatment.
I love the theme of this year’s comedy tour. I feel like the last ones were giving Cooper black font with 80s-90s style aesthetics, and this one’s giving a very early 2000s look. I think the design is captured really well.
I recently started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and we do a lot of grappling. And it's great exercise and a ton of fun but I can't help but become aware, every now and then, that I am basically just very aggressively hugging people on the floor for exercise. It's hilarious!
Whenever Kurtis posts I start violently shaking and hovering in the air until my jaw unhinges and the audio plays from my mouth like a Bluetooth speaker
In high school, I experienced relentless bullying which included physical violence such as punching, kicking, and being pushed down the stairs. I also had my face slammed into a ceramic sink multiple times and had pencil shavings blown into my eyes every week. Additionally, my hair was snipped off by a boy who teased me for being overweight. I now have an eating disorder and haven't eaten "right" since 2016. While I must admit that I find the premise of this show appealing, I regret not being able to stand up for myself during those difficult times. I am still working on rebuilding myself every day, but the impact of the bullying will stay with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for sharing the video, Kurtis.

This auto played while I was cooking and I thought “oh wow a Kurtis video I haven’t seen that’s rare” and then I glanced over and saw 20 minutes ago and got way too excited lol
you brought up an interesting point Mr. Mayor. why aren't we legally protecting children from bullies and holding them and the caregivers of the bullies legally responsible? seems like we need to change that. we need to teach everyone when they are still young that this kind of crap is NOT OK. and if the legal system won't enforce that, we should at least have clearly defined definitions for self defense. or both.
Everytime bullying is brought up I think of the case of Ken McElroy who got killed by a whole town of people he terrorized and none of them fessed up to who did it 💀
2:53 ohhhh innocent sweet Kurtis has never worked in corporate dude that’s literally all being the young one at a job is. Oh there’s definitely bosses that explicitly seek out young employees to emotionally manipulate who grew up in broken homes to try to blackmail and coerce, don’t ask me how I know, ugh. my homies were on this show.

The reason adult bullies aren't common is because it's no longer treated like "bullying" and is literally just assault and battery at this point, so they take more subtle measures that people don't really notice or care about as much. lol
yep, exactly. it’s cuz people actually start treating bullying as abuse once it occurs in adults (even though it’s a form of abuse no matter the age)
Well maybe we should treat it as such for kids?
@breademojiwheatemoji4003 That's so real. Kids getting seriously abused by their peers and the advice is jUsT iGnoRe tHeM. As if they would ignore another adult physically attacking them and/or psychologically abusing them every day. You're trapped while you're in school. Some bullying is genuine abuse that would be illegal if an adult did it.
Nah it's because if you tell someone that another person is being mean to you they'll tell you to do something about it yourself
Man, at one point as a young adult I'm pretty sure I was a bully sometimes and didn't realize it. Mostly like taking jokes too far and not recognizing that the other person isn't having fun like I was.

The contrast between the boys showing their injuries with the bully’s bodybuilding pictures being shoved over their faces is so funny

Adult bullying is absolutely a thing. But it rarely involves beatings. It is more covert.
Thats harassment
Yeah, especially if you work in an office. Bullying is absolutely still a thing for adults lmao

Thats so cute! More people should see this comment😭 also, that must have been traumatic being stuck for that long, glad you are ok!

I mean, seeking a physical violence based sport says a lot about a person.
Or a drag queen 😂
@@رزيئة i mean if they are just good at it why wouldnt you make it a career? people enjoy fighting anyway as sport, and people enjoy what they are good at even more, it doesnt mean they are a bad person or like to see people hurt just because they have a violence based sport
As a Ukrainian, the part where Dennis talks about Russia’s “struggles” - LOL. Your bully metaphors were on point 👌
As a ukrainian, to be fair, 90s were hard for all of us. But that metaphor was still on point xD
Not only did the bully/aggressor win 10K, they got congratulated in the show for being so tough. That is insane, Dennis won here, no doubt.
I love the theme of this year’s comedy tour. I feel like the last ones were giving Cooper black font with 80s-90s style aesthetics, and this one’s giving a very early 2000s look. I think the design is captured really well.

I am still working on rebuilding myself every day, but the impact of the bullying will stay with me for the rest of my life.

you brought up an interesting point Mr. Mayor. why aren't we legally protecting children from bullies and holding them and the caregivers of the bullies legally responsible? seems like we need to change that. we need to teach everyone when they are still young that this kind of crap is NOT OK. and if the legal system won't enforce that, we should at least have clearly defined definitions for self defense. or both.
