RNAV approaches with an LPV or an LP+V or LNAV+V can capture a GP or Glide Path.

Garmin does not have “cruise” altitudes. Altitudes in white are calculated based on current altitude. Since you are on the ground they won’t show higher. Cyan are actual restrictions in the SID/STAR/APR.

No you don't put any Altitudes IN that are not actual Constraints ... Dial up the Altitude that you are cleared to .. ie if the Controller on Vatsim puts you only to 10K to start you put 10K into the ALT SEL and climb out with VFLC -- FLC and VNAV enabled. it will stop/hit all constraints and then level off at 10K .. Cleared to go higher - set the ALT SEL to that higher level and press FLC again. There are links to the real Garmin Manuals. You can read exactly how the Garmin systems work via those.

​@@LesOReillyIf I skip entering Controller Alt at each waypoint in my Flight Plan, how does the VNAV system determine the altitude speed? Each waypoint in the Boeing/Airbus MCDU has its specific ALT.

@@yongliu412 again -- Read the Garmin Manuals. I can not type out the manual for you in youtube comments. There is one normal Cruise speed with Biz Jets which is as fast as it can go with out entering Vmo. You only need ALT and SPD Restrictions. which it pulls from the SIDs/STARs/APRs. The rest is in the FMS climb and descent schedules which are a single entry. These are not airliners .. they don't need Step Climbs and Step speeds.

It’s not an axis in the plane - you hold the handle forward and it “spins the trim / hold it back and is spins it the other way. If you have an axis device that you want to map it to then you use the spad to set axis range events which would trigger that switch in three locations simulating this behavior

All the LEDs work just fine for me ... You will be best to join the SPAD discord so that you can post images of your configuration and or seek additional questions to discover what is causing you issue.

WT CJ4 mod is no longer used -- must be removed from the community. Also NOW it uses all standard events and variables so no longer needs to use LVARs.

@@axlsys They can be. There are now split units so you have to use the Index versions.

@@axlsys the Events -- Generic_Upr_Data_INC -- Those events since last January 2023 would now need to be the Index version for the Left or Right system. Now that command would need to be changed to Generic_Upr_1_Data_INC for the Left PFD and the 1 would be a 2 for the Right PFD.

Yes that is one of the features. You make a profile per plane then import device snippets from online database others have shared - or just make your own device configurations. You link planes to profiles and when you switch planes Spad auto switches the profile

An update to what? PMDG 777 for P3D never changed.

There is an LVAR for VNAVbuttonmode or something along those lines.

I only have used Spad - well and MobiFlight on Sunday when I built a switch panel for a workshop at FSE. Spad works well for me and all the stuff I use.

I will wait for the official SDK support. Until then I am not even going to buy the plane. I am extremely disappointed that PMDG could not supply the SDK and a dev copy of the 777 meanwhile they could send it to every streamer out there so they could make videos on it. All the paying customers that use these kinds of tools are left scrambling and asking why Spad is not supporting or working…

Also the PMDG ford simulate the real world and it takes 5 seconds or so at idle before reversers can engage.

It’s not my product. I am just a user :). What from the G5000 can you not control? All of the HEvents are exposed and in the sim now.

@@LesOReilly Having a lot of trouble with the VNAV, which I can't find anything to link it to, Autopilot Altitude freezes up, along with the Autopilot Vertical Speed, I am not sure my rotary switch on the right side of my Bravo works with everything, sometimes it will work fine with the Headings, although it only makes 10 degree changes, which isn't very smoothly done.

@lvoutdoor you have to make sure if you start binding in Spad that you clear bindings in MSFS. VNAV button is not an event for what ever reason that one is an LVAR with like VNAV button in the name.

I tried to contact Spad but since I'm not a subscriber yet I couldn't get thru to them. Do you fly the Longitude and does everything work for you@@LesOReilly

@lvoutdoor yes people have control of all of those just fine. People also have all kinds of snippets for other devices and for other G3000/5000. I use it with the Longitude. HJet, Vision Jet and the TBM just fine.

Pretty sure now with access to B events you can just control the B Event for that axis.

Well you could just replace that board with a Leo bodnar board. They are good quality. And I agree the guy was scummy. Meeting him in person I knew he was sketch.

With the XTouch (only midi controller I have) the encoders always send a CW or CCW event so it’s endless. You don’t want fixed values that would be like an axis and would jump any time you touched the co trip if it did not already match in the sim.

@@LesOReilly I bought an xTouch mini and actually the encoders always send a CW or CCW event... Instead, with the encoders of my Akai MPK mini mk3 keyboard it doesn't work like that.. The encoders at the end of their travel no longer send events.. Thank you so much for the valuable information and your really useful and clear guides.

Well you use the tablet to calibrate the ATR to the axis. So that might be why.

@@LesOReilly Sorry maybe I wasn't clear. After setting up the custom axis between 0 and 16383 as shown in the video AND calibrating with the EFB I still could not actually get full range for some reason. Only after changing it to be -16383 to 16383 and calibrating did I get full range. Not sure why but I know this aircraft has been updated since this video so I Assume that is why. I know that seems super weird because that seems like the whole point of calibration. I would expect to get the full range even if I set up a custom axis that was like 1600 to 16383 since I'm telling the EFB calibration where it starts but beats me. Just sharing what I observed and how I got it working in case anyone else runs into the same issue.

Don’t need to be on anything but release. Current Spad version is 9.16.4 and that video is two years of versions ago. Make sure you have an updated subscription and not running an older version. There was a point where I updated the snippets and you will need to be on that base version at least.

You can’t MCT is going to change based on temperature and altitude. It’s controlled by the FADEC.

If you want to put the throttle into the MCT detent then you need to use the axis target values that are shown in the videos.

You are watching a video from 2021… back then there was no navigraph plug-in to import from simbrief.

You did not do the first steps which is to enable the PMDG 737 INI files. If the displays are not updating that is always the issue.

And just check the show notes of this video for links and that information regarding the SDK INI file edits required.

@@LesOReilly Ok i followed your video but its not right at all. Left Coarse turns but very slow and it also is turn All like the IAS , Heading, Alt, and Vertical speed. all from Left Coarse knob. Im Sorry im a idiot when it come to Computer Literacy. Is it possible to Talk with you either on Discord or Google Voice? I know its probably something i missed. I do have a discord channel. okay but you need to do it for All Versions -- ie each variant -600/-700/-800/-900 all have their own work folders and you need to do it for each one.

Keypad designs will need Diodes if you are looking to be able to Hold Multiple Switches / Buttons down at the same time

@@LesOReilly thanks, I just need to set up about 6 toggle switches, no buttons as such, just 6 toggle switches.. I’m a noob so not really sure what the pro micro can support

@@TallWestEddy oh then you don't even need to implement Keypad expansion .. you only need 6 Digital Pins.. 1 per switch. All Switches tie to Ground and you enable the Pins with the Pullup so that you just short to ground to trigger.

I uploaded some joystick library following a video someone did, but it only allows me to wire two toggle switches as it shows pin mode 9-12…but the pro micro doesn’t have 11-12. I’m so lost. Maybe I need to learn to code to?! Managed to get two toggle switches working on the pro micro but guessing I’m using the wrong library to let me use the other pins?!

you have to write / modify the sketch files in the Arduino IDE to configure the pins/switches and then map those to the joystick library..

There are a bunch of "online snippets" for multiple different Airplane configurations now. Not just for Airbus... you can configure it to do what ever you like.

yes this is how it has been with Spad .. you always have to click on a button or axis in the device before the right side items become available.

You have to link your license on the discord to get access to the correct channels. Too much spam bots so they blocked non users to a trial channel only.
