    Always great help Les. I am still learning from you. I am a real amature doing this stuff and still not very successful but trying.

      SPAD is always getting new things :) I don't think anyone will ever know how to use everything in it :)

    great information here Les, I never realised you could combine Held and Press. very useful. I've never added limits when using position data changes, and can't say I've noticed anything bad happen. What is the consequences of not setting limits with position manipulation?

    • @LesOReilly
      @LesOReilly  4 месяца назад

      Two things CAN happen .. you can force a variable to a value that is not supported which could cause the sim to crash. Similar to trying to request a variable or L:VAR that is not in use... That is once where people try to have one profile and then switch to a page that tries to check a Var that is not in the plane and "poof" the sim locks up and crashes.
      The Other issue is that you could just set the variable higher than it can go and when you go to run the value the opposite way you will be waiting a moment or two for the values to start actually changing the trim wheel lets say as an example.

      @@LesOReilly I've been having a nasty CTD in MSFS which I couldn't figure out the culprit, your response has pointed me to Spad - brilliant..

    I cannot wait for when you do a profile for the HC bravo and the PMDG 777

    • @LesOReilly
      @LesOReilly  2 месяца назад +1

      I will wait for the official SDK support. Until then I am not even going to buy the plane. I am extremely disappointed that PMDG could not supply the SDK and a dev copy of the 777 meanwhile they could send it to every streamer out there so they could make videos on it. All the paying customers that use these kinds of tools are left scrambling and asking why Spad is not supporting or working…

    How to figure out the upper and lower limits, for example for the PMDG 737?

    • @Breenild
      @Breenild 4 месяца назад +1

      I guess, there is no documentation where you can find it.
      It's simply trying it.

    • @LesOReilly
      @LesOReilly  4 месяца назад +2

      For the PMDG I would actually recommend using the standard Trim Events instead and maybe set the Frequency of the repeat to say "50ms" instead of 25. Then play with that number in 25ms increments to slow it down if you feel that is too fast. That way you won't need to worry about limits.
      If using say the Bravo Trim Wheel where we can't use the HELD event and we have no choice but to use the Position Variable to deal with it --- Open Data monitor -- Add the Elevator Trim Position VAR -- MOVE the PMDG (or Other Plane) Trim to the Full Nose down and then Full Nose Up positions using the in plane controls. This will show you the Values that are the Limits each way.

    Less, I’m new to Spad.next and need some 101 level help. I’ve seen several of your videos about installing and familiarization. Those are perfect but the I can’t find the next fam video on how spad.next and msfs work together. Does a spad profiles show up in msfs? Does msfs profiles show up on spad. If i’m using the TM airbus throttle for an F18 what is that profile i’m seeing in spad? (when i click on it i don’t see anything). A 101 level course would cover some important understandings that is missing. I may need to view existing videos that explain what Lvar is and why spad needs it. See a basic profile, how it is broken down and how it shows up in msfs before I create a new profile. Then using great videos like this one to understand more complex settings. I would appreciate links to any such videos. Thanks

      Open spad next. On the home tab go to the Video Guides sub tab. Then the top category is New Users. In that you will be given the videos in the best order to follow.
      The second video explains what to do with profiles in MSFS. And yes spad must be running when you’re running the sim. It’s always running.

    The "frequency" name for this field is kinda wrong.
    Frequency is defined as number of events per second.
    So the higher the number is the more events are getting fired per second.
    But this field is the other way around.
    So this field name is kind of misleading.

      I don't make the software. feel free to take it up with the developer.
      If someone asked me how Frequent does a Bus Come to a specific stop I might say "every 20 minutes"... or "how Frequent do they brew the coffee here? -- every 10 mins.."
      So the Field being the "frequency" at which the the repeat event is sent is not inconsistent. There are definitions for converting the time or "period" to "frequency".
      The Tool Tip Says " Defines the frequency of the HELD-Events in milliseconds ..
      So I guess this is how frequent does the repeat take place..

      No I am not. I am just a user of it. Join the spad discord if you want to ask the developer and other community members questions.
      Link directly on the home tab of the spad UI to get there.
