I hade the PMS50 version (had bought a one year sub). When I heard about Navigraph integration in the TDS, well it was a no brainer. Didn't want to spend the $ but at least it's a one time purchase only. Absolutely loving it in the TBM (yep, I 'retired' the 530 - hehehe). Looks like a hardware upgrade to RSG's 750 may be in the near future.

Can always use the 530 here and there :) or both if the TBM 850 has both in it.

@@LesOReilly No plans to completely abandon the 530 just yet. Just like when I fly the DC-6, I don't use any Garmin (I mean come on, GPS didn't exist in the 1950s). Hehehe...

Many thanks. I have very much been fence sitting, hoping for and waiting for Navigraph integration. Now to wrap my head around using the TDS version as opposed to the PMS50 version AND remap a whole bunch of bindings to my various external devices!!!!!

Yeah it was a nice upgrade option.. well worth the money considering how many planes I use that has it.

Les, can you explain the pros and cons of using the TDS or PMS50? Witch one to choose? Maybe a video on this?

I don't think I can do an impartial job of it. The GTN Xi from TDS is using the Garmin Trainer and with that having exact 1-1 operation, UI and buttonology which is important for me. I was already preferring it even when Navdata was not upgradeable because of that trade off.
I am sure there are many that don't use a GTN in the real world and thus it's okay to have slight differences or operation from the real thing in exchange for other convenience features and direct sim native connectivity. It is also able to pull Navdata directly from the sim so those that don't pay for Navigrah will still get updated navdata that matches the base sim...
Again trying here but I just don't think I will be fair an impartial.

Ok, well, I'm still stumped. I upgraded to the new version, I updated to the new manager, it shows Pro Installed. I DID miss the QR code in settings, and when I saw that, I was sure I had fixed the problem. But I guess not. Though I was able to import the SimBrief flight plan from Moab to Scottsdale, when I tried to specify the RNAV RNP to KSDL, the one for runway 21 did not appear as a choice. I can't select it if it's not a choice? I can pull up the chart for that approach right in the GTXNi. Frustrating that I can't get that data into the route. Is it supposed to work this way? What step did I leave out? SimBrief says Im connected to the sim.

The RNP 21 in KSDL is an RNP-AR approach. It is an "Authorization Required" approach and you can not fly that with a GTN series navigator. They are not approved for this. You would need something like a G5000 and be certified for it. You can't even fly this approach with a TBM, Vision Jet or Honda Jet. Need a longitude at minimum in the Garmin offerings

Do you have to be paying for Navigraph to receive the benefits of upgrading to pro? (just saw on the TDS site that you have to have a paid subscription navigraph)

    • @LesOReilly

Yes .. Currently the Pro Version Features are to enable Navigraph Database and Charts. If you don't subscribe to Navigraph then you won't be able to access them.

Maybe you should explain what the TDS is! For us real pilots that have been flying real airplanes for 50 plus years! And I as an electrical engineer that designed flights simulators in the 70’s for research at NASA Langley! I just do not know what the TDS is, is that payware avionics? A particular builder of several airplanes? Dude explain your self! 🤯🛫

      Hi! Sorry this frustrated you..
I made Videos on the TDS when it first released and the point of this one video was to create a short video covering how to use the new Pro version and get Navigraph Data and charts with it.
That said looking back it's been almost 3 years having this Avinonics add on! So yeah maybe it is time to do a "After 3 Years where are we" video update and go through the product again!

@@LesOReilly Thank you the reply, I truly appreciate that! Perhaps In the future you could better explain what it is you are speaking about! I will say I was not into the loop of what you were explaining!
