Are you a runner? Have you heard of Parkrun? Well, this channel might just be for you because I showcase a different Parkrun every week so you can get an insight before you go.
I love exercise and how it makes me feel, whether that's running, cycling or swimming. In 2019, after about 5 years of mountain biking, I started running at Warrington Parkrun and since then I’ve progressed to competitive events including 5Ks, 10Ks, an 8K trail race and even a half marathon in Manchester in 2024, something I thought was beyond me. I've also done a triathlon and that was a great experience.
Along the way, I’ve met people who have become firm friends and I’ve also travelled overseas to run, the Prom Classic 10K in Nice and the Geneva 10K in Switzerland.
Please follow my channel and come along for the ride, I'm keen to support every runner, no matter how quick they are and I really believe that people can do so much more than they realise, no matter what their age is!

Storm Bert Hits Preston Parkrun!😬☔️🌪️

At 7am today, I switched on the TV and saw severe weather warnings and as a result, lots of cancelled Parkruns due to snow, flooding or just severe weather conditions. But I needed my weekly Parkrun fix and so I headed up to Preston, a Parkrun I've done before but I hadn't done a video as I hadn't started my channel then. What can I say, it was challenging - but we like a challenge don't we?

On holiday this week in Oxfordshire so decided to visit Bicester Parkrun, another Parkrun on my journey to 100 Tourist Parkruns. I chose this because they were operating the winter route so it was all tarmac paths and a pretty flat course to boot😀. Really enjoyed this Parkrun although I was very nervous of a repeat of my calf issue from last week at Alexandra Parkrun, all will be revealed in th...

Another Tourist Parkrun today although not a new one so I stay at my tally of 90 Tourist Parkruns. Didn't think I'd be setting any personal records today although you never know, and my friend Paul, a very quick runner was after a PB on this very quick, flat and fast course. So much happened today, you'll see it all unfold in the video...

On the Tourist Parkrun trail again today and plenty of news to share with you in terms of new shoes and a new race just booked in France for January 2025. My 90th Tourist Parkrun today and an absolute cracker, running next to the Irish Sea, a lovely beach, scaling sand dunes and a spontaneous interview to top it all off (and the obligatory latte and bacon butty in the cafe!). And the Tourist Parkrun quest continues, today we ventured into Lancashire to a town called Todmorden where they hold Centre Vale Parkrun. I was really taken aback by the beauty of the park and its stunning setting in the valley floor. The Parkrun itself was challenging but there as a great reward at the end when I had a cup of tea and a huge flapjack at the Victorian pavilion. This is a must v...

It was an absolute treat to run around Hanley Park, what a stunning location for a Parkrun! This was my first Parkrun after the Manchester Half Marathon and didn't I know it. From struggling to walk the day after the Half, even 6 days later, this was tough! I knew I was still recovering so I took it super easy, probably my slowest ever Parkrun but you know what? This was the ultimate challenge for me (The Great Escape?) Could I complete a half marathon with minimal training? Would you believe it, Parkrun was 20 years old on the 2nd of October. And I'm on the tourist Parkrun trail once again, getting closer to the so-called Cowell award (100 Tourist Parkruns) and having to head further afield as I try and find ones I have not yet experienced. Beauitiful weather, perfect running conditions but because of road closures, I almost missed it!

Congratulations on rthe 300. Slow, steady and consistent wins the race... Hope you enjoyed the holiday!
Hi Ian, thanks, let's hope so:) It's been slower than I'd hoped but it's growing fairly consistently month on month. Really needed the week in Madeira, we've had a tough year personally. Lots to look forward to in 2025 including the Prom Classic 10K in less than 4 weeks...I need to get some longer runs in!
Wish you a good and healthy 2025 in running Andy !! Sounds like there's a fair bit on the horizon for you 😁
@@RunThePlanet Thanks Matt, and the same to you😊Yes, it’s great to have things lined up, especially Prom Classic in January, love that event😀

@@SwimBikeRunStu Hi Stu, it doesn’t seem a large amount after a year but as you say, it’s quite big when you look at it like that😊I’m enjoying it though😊
All good stuff on the horizon, looking forward to the meet up next week! Hope you’ve had a lovely break, weather looks much better there than it has been here. Congrats on the 300 subs 🎉
@@SisterMandy Hi Mandy, I just hope I can get 100% fit early in the New Year🙏It’s been great, I’m not looking forward to Warrington weather😩Yes, we finally get to meet😀
Not sure I’d be rushing back over here with a view like that. Well done again on the 300, it’ll be 400 in a blink 😁. Well deserved. Looking forward to our meet up next week as is Sister Mandy. Waiting to see what’s on this week (storm permitting) before looking at next week’s selection. At this rate we’ll be following a yellow brick road!! 🌬️🍃 Catch up when you’re back and will be in touch re next week

@AndyCliffMTB Yeah, I wasn't planning on running, but then you changed my mind 😀. I will be running in Monaco the 30k trail on 8 February and the 10k the next day with my wife ( her first race).

@@edwilson5416 Hi Ed, we’re in the Savoy Palace but we’re leaving for home tomorrow. Enjoy your time in Madeira, lots of hill training⚙️😊
@AndyCliffMTB you might be on the return leg of our jet 2 flight out from Manchester in the morning. Your hotel sounds posh, we are in the Sao Joao hotel. I'm happy to jog along the coast and walk a few levada, there's enough hills in my runs at home.
@ I think so Ed, our flight arrived at 2pm and we depart at 3pm. Your hotel is just a bit North from us. Enjoy your break😊
I'm sure I already commented on this 🧐 anywho. Congratulations once again on achieving 300 subs. It is a fantastic welcoming community here and one I'm happy to consider myself a part of. It's a shame about missing that 10k, but I eagerly await the collab with Craig and Mandy (and Carl maybe?). They are great company.
@@TheRegularRunner Hi Matt, thanks again, the short was purely a subs thank you but this was a big update so I mentioned it again😊Looking forward to finally meeting Mandy (I’ve met Craig and Carl when they did Woodbank Parkrun, I was marshalling). @AndyCliffMTB I remember seeing Craigs video for that one. It was the day after the mid cheshire 5k if memory serves? I'm entered into that one for next year. Hoping I can put in a good time by August. Have a safe journey back to home soil.

You absolute nutter 😂 . I made an executive decision and stayed in bed.
Great job Andy and getting it recorded too in those conditions. The wind sounded awful, not sure how you managed to keep your breath running in it! The full waterproofs made the video for me lol
Hi Craig, I wasn't even certain I would film as I drove up the M6, the conditions were terrible but I thought I'd film just every 1km vs usual 500m and I got away with it, iPhone in tact. I'll never forget that Parkrun! Massive kudos to the volunteers, it was awful for them:(
@ 100% pal. Its one thing doing the run and warming up, but another all together volunteering and being blown, frozen and wet so that others can run. Love volunteers 🥰
The Honda Jazz is the real hero 😅 Was it brown or red sauce on the bacon sarnie mate? Great news about the calf 👍
Oh yes, I agree Mark, it's a great little car, super practical and it's got a far better heater than the Lexus! No sauce at all on this week's bacon sandwich, I checked when I ordered it! Thanks for watching:)
Well done, keep doing parkrun videos really enjoy them
Thanks Jacob, it's great to hear that you enjoy them, it takes quite a few hours to piece them all together after filming. If you haven't subscribed, please consider doing so and if you have, many thanks!
Well done Andy. Amazing achievement just finding one that was on within a commutable distance. We were down for volunteering to help set up at Heaton Park. We got the news it was cancelled just as we were arriving at the park so we sat in the carpark searching high and low for a run that was on. I'm actually glad we didnt try and make it to preston because I was not dressed for those conditions at the time. I resorted back to the treadmill instead for my Saturday running fix. Great news about your calf. That was a nice steady pace all the way round which could be just what it needed. I hope it behaves for you this weekend too.
Thanks Matt, when I saw the weather forecast at 7am I was concerned, and I'd already seen lots of Parkruns cancelling so I just thought, Preston is 35-40 minutes straight up the M6, it's got a cafe near to the finish, let's just get it done. Sorry about your Heaton Park cancellation:( It reminded me of my Cheadle Hulme Parkrun last winter, I was off to Pennington at 8am and they cancelled just after that, diverted to Cheadle Hulme and ran in the snow, loved it:) I'm now convinced the calf issues were MHM related, I battered myself that day...:(

Flat, perfect surface and not too busy✅ Before I did Bala one year ago, I think I had 35-40 subscribers and I’ve just passed the 300 marker so hopefully people are liking what I do😊
Shame about the calf causing you grief, looked like a nice spot. I don't think those sharp turns help when you have leg issues but well done getting it done through the pain.
@@TheRunningWhale Hi Craig, on that run I’d decided (after some research) to increase my cadence and shorten my stride but it didn’t work - but I lasted another km✅The pain was pretty sharp, in just not used to experiencing pain in the run. I’m convinced it’s a hangover from the MHM🤔
Andy, I was gonna say what Mark said, then I read his comment lol. Praying that your calves heal and your next parkrun will be a PB! Gorgeous tree-lined drives and cottage!
@@RunFreeandStrong Thanks Reto, I appreciate it, I hope it’s MHM related and it’s gradually healing🙏PB, that’d be nice but 23:34 is a long way away😊Yes, that place was stunning😮

Another cracking coverage of parkrun Andy. Looking forward to you getting back to full running and putting these calf issues behind you. Rest easy and hope it gets better soon.

@@TheRegularRunner I actually said to the volunteer that I was at the 3.5K mark and was it another (big) loop and she said yes☹️I won’t make that mistake again and wouldn’t have if I’d been running with a 25-27 minute group😊I might just do that, not necessarily for a fast one, just for a decent time😊Provided the calf is cured….
I've no idea how many miles my trainers have done (only run with a basic stop watch) but it will be more than that. Always used to use asics but last couple of pairs have been saucony which have lasted well.
@@edwilson5416 I’ve always been led down the “change early” route with my running shoes, and the worry that I’ll cause an injury if I hang onto them for more than 750kms. Never tried Saucony but I’m about to give Hoka a try😊
@AndyCliffMTB the choice in trainers has narrowed since the trend for carbon plated shoes that are stacked really high. I refuse to wear these cheating shoes that are making people's times artificially fast. Saucony Ride is a good neutral all round trainer. I've got some trail shoes from them as well which seem bullet proof.
@@edwilson5416 I suppose people just want to go faster but the extra performance can only be marginal, I reckon a fitter athlete could outperform a less able runner wearing daily trainers💪Saucony Ride, will have a look, thanks.
