  • Lots of Parkrun cancellations today due to the snow and ice so it was time to scour the Parkrun map for events that were definitely on. So I headed West and did my Parkrun at Crosby, just North of Liverpool. Lots of other Parkrunners had the same idea as you'll see. It's quite a special one, starting on the beach and having music before the start! Also great to see The Gormleys again.

Andy, you're a brave man to run on an open beach with lots of wind! The statues (bronze? or some other metal?) are awesome on the beach landscape. Thanks for bringing us along.

Thanks Reti, it was tough, but I had to get my Parkrun fix😂 Bitterly cold and I couldn’t wear gloves as I was using my iPhone to film. I think they’re iron, they corrode over time. Are there any Parkruns in CT?

Great video Andy. I was actually RD at Crosby on that day! That was a record turnout for us that day which presented a few problems. Thanks for your understanding about the delayed start.
We reversed the course a few years ago so we start on the beach when the tide is far enough out (which it mostly is) and start close to the finish when it’s high tide.
    Happy parkrunning!

Thank you Andrew, I really enjoyed that day, it must be challenging when you’re overrun as happened that day. Your volunteers were so helpful and the delayed start was a really sensible and considerate approach to take. Bitterly cold though and I was hoping for Captain Pugwash on the beach disco😂

This is my local parkrun. I remember this one because as you say all the others were cancelled that day and it was by far the busiest I’ve seen it. The wind was pretty bad too! The ‘B’ and ‘C’ courses don’t go on the beach but I think are a bit harder. The ‘C’ course was used on 23rd March because the tide was in and it was very very windy. I’d definitely not recommend Crosby ‘C’ course on a really windy day, it’s ridiculously difficult and ran entirely on grass 😂

Great video, our local parkrun doesn’t normally start until 9:15 because of all the chatting 😂 we still need to do a parkrun on the beach, thank you for making it

Thanks Both, that’s unusual, I thought all parkruns started at 9 with the exception of Scotland (9.30). Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching and commenting as always😊

@@AndyCliffMTBhaha yeah they are meant to be 9 but tend to be very relaxed 😂 not ideal when you’re hyping yourself up and then have to wait ages 😂

@@raleyadventures I suppose it’s often the case that after the briefing, it ends up being a few minutes after 9, but I’m surprised it’s 9.15 - which one is that?

@@AndyCliffMTBit would be Stratford upon Avon, it’s a rapid course tho so it’s worth the wait 😂

@@raleyadventures I think I almost did SOA last year when we were away, did another one instead which was closer to our accommodation😊
