40 mile run for my 40th Birthday | Liverpool to Wigan | Ultra Marathon by the Canal | Self-Supported

I decided to run 40 miles for my 40th birthday from Liverpool which is where I completed my first marathon in 2017 to Wigan, my home town. The run was fully self-supported with just me and Matthew collecting supplies along the way. We stopped at shops in Maghull (14 miles) & Burscough Bridge (25 miles).
I have only ever ran 6 marathons and my last one was almost a yer ago. Having only decided to attempt this run, just a couple fo weeks ago there was no time to train or prepare so just threw myself into it.
I had a wonderful day, saw some of the best of British countryside along the Leeds Liverpool Canal and met some amazing people.
I hope the two people that fell off their tandem bicycle got to Liverpool safely and are OK. We all had a good laugh at the time, but we were genuinely worried about you! It was lovely to meet you even if it was in such strange circumstances!

I just came across your channel! This reminds me of my self-supported ultra (56 miles) that I did earlier this year (video on my channel too). Well done Laura on running 40 miles! Actually, well done to both of you for finishing the distance. Also, that bike 'crash' into the canal was funny! LOL

What a great video ! Well done for 40 for 40 !
Regarding Wigan Pier. It was a "pier" that was used to dump coal from the wagons on to the barges. You ran past a replica of it around the 20:50 mark. It is literally just a railway track sticking up in the air.

(11:54) LMAO!! The lads took their unplanned swim with a smile so it's all good. It's actually nice warning ahead of this month's LLCR. The path looks very narrow so will need to take extra care on that section.
I notice Matt is on start list of this years LLCR. I took a very late entry myself. My longest ever run is just over 50 miles so 127 is a huge gamble - a titanic, scary challenge. Nervous but excited.
I'm assuming Laura will be part of the Matt support crew so will see you both there.
