  • If you're based in the North West and like the idea of progressing from Parkrun to something more professional, I'd certainly reccommend the Sale Sizzler Series - four 5K races in July and August each year and the great part is, you start and finish on the athletics track! It makes for a fantastic event and no wonder over 500 people often take part. Last year there were 723 people in one I attended! I didn't race tonight but I think it made a better video because of that. Also talking about my new approach to heel pain, using Class IV later treatment to finally resolve my heel pain!

    Great filminging mate 🎉 looked like a top 5k and there aren't many of those around in the UK, you captured the event so well 😊

      Thanks Both, I think the start/finish on the track makes it feel special and it’s incredibly well supported every year😀

    Another great video Andy. I remember when the started with a handful 24 years ago and have become so popular. Think I did one in 2001 about 60 of us. Used to be 10 miler too not sure if they still host that. I too had plantar fasciitis. Have to check your running gait. That's the reason you get PF. I developed the injury training for my 2nd marathon in January 2001. I struggled on to do the training and marathon but eventually had to take time out. Correct shoes stability fixed my condition. On occasion I still get it but a good massage gun and relevant stretches fix it.

      Thanks, it means a lot to know you enjoyed the video😊The funny thing about my PF is that I never experienced it when I was training for the Manchester Half last summer/autumn, only when I returned after a one month layoff for Covid in October. Did you have to have orthotics in your shoes or stability type running shoes?

      @@AndyCliffMTB tried and spent a fortune on different types or orthotics never worked for me. I switched to Asics Gt2000 and wear them when not running work, leisure used to run in the model but switched to Kayanos. If you've never had gait analysed get it done. Over time with running arches can fall resulting it PF and need to wear Stability shoes

      @@alldone1116 I’m not sure if you’ve said your name before if so my apologies, I like to address people by name if possible😊 There’s a long story on my gait etc. Way back in 2016 I was a dedicated mtb and swimmer and tried parkrun in squash shoes. Damaged my plantar in a 100m end sprint and then took time out but when I ran again I had a gait analysis at Decathlon who said I over pronated so prescribed ASICS Kayano Gel and within 2-3 runs I was in agony with PF. Went back, re-tested and they said I was a neutral gait😩Webt to proper running shop, tried 8-9 brands and went with Mizuno Ultima and 4 more pairs of Wave Rider/Ultima since and no issues - until Nov-23🤷‍♂️

    Thanks Andy that looks really good and well executed. Nice to have someone come say hi out in the wild too lol You have so much more self control than me. I wouldn't have been able to resist jumping in if I had full kit and a rece number lol, but best you heal up properly. Also have you ever run Blackpool run the lights in August? Will be doing it again this year if you fancy it? Nice flatish course 👌

      Thanks Craig, yes it was great to meet Ollie, I’m not used to people coming up to say hi but it’s very nice when they do. I didn’t envy them racing in that heat tbh😊I haven’t heard of that one, is that a 10K? It’s a possibility, thanks for the offer😀

      @AndyCliffMTB yeah a chap stopped to say hi to mandy a few weeks back, she was well made up lol.
      Yes it's a 10k and starts about 9pm so you get to enjoy running down the illuminations. Done it the last few years, I really enjoy that one, be a good one to do 🏆👍

      @@TheRunningWhale Hi Craig, that sounds pretty cool actually, does it get booked up early, I’m not sure I can commit at the moment with my wife’s mum being so unwell. What’s the event called btw?😊

    • @TheRunningWhale
      @TheRunningWhale 9 дней назад +1

      @AndyCliffMTB it's called run the lights. It's always a busy one but pretty sure you can register even on the night. Completelt understand, be cool if you do. I'll pop a link on one of my upcoming race videos.
