They are currently in training for a Sub 20 5k (John) and Sub 21 5k (Dawn) which would give her a 90% Age Grading.
Wow, what a thrilling and enjoyable race! I could feel the excitement as you both pushed yourselves to reach your goals. I loved how you described the course and your strategy throughout the race. It's incredible to see your progress and dedication to improving your times. And that fast finish was truly impressive! Congrats on your fantastic results. Keep up the great work, and I can't wait to see more of your running adventures. You guys are awesome! 🏃♂🏃♀
Thank you, Mihai! Your kindness is well received! 🙂
Great races John and Dawn!!
Thanks, Jay. Onwards...
the videos you share are good to watch & I like them friends. always success for you 👌👍
Thanks. #keeponkeepingon 👍
Great running from both of you. This looks like an interesting race to take part starting and finishing on the track with sections on trail and the road. Much nicer conditions than the hot weather from the race a few weeks back.
Yes all the seasons in a couple of weeks here. Wish we could roll up this weather for the next few 5ks.
Looks like an ideal race for a PB 👍
It's a good season's best course, and depending on what kind of course your pb on, it could be a pb course. There's a stacked field, so you always have someone to work with, which helps to keep you pushing.
Well done, fantastic to see you both do so well in the same race 😊
Yes things looking up. Let's hope we stay on this trajectory.
This was really wonderful 👏👏
Thanks. #keeponkeepingon 👍
Good runs and video , just been watching feeling lazy and looking out the window at the bad weather thinking to skip my long run today. Then watched this and got inspired to get it done.
Likewise Will. We're now inspired by you battling the Sheffield rain to get out of the door here a few miles up the road.
Well done guys. Great vid as always. It's great watching your progression week on week. Keep 'em coming. 💪
Oh we intend to. No doubt about that. John has a relentless streak you may have noticed... 😉
Great running on a not-so-easy course with the bends and congestion!! the training is paying off
Thanks, Ian. A very good depth of field, which pulled us along. Onwards...
Brilliant running guys 💪👏👏
Thanks, Clair. 🙂
I purposely didn’t read any of the comments so that I had to wait to the end to find out your times. Congratulations both!! SB must be a big confidence boost. Although the route looked flat, there were lots of turns, trail sections and some narrower parts that would have probably added a small fraction. So all in all a very good day at the office 😁
Thanks, Rachel. Yes, we were discussing this with our friend who was marshalling, and we agreed that although the course isn't the fastest, it produces fast times due to the depth of the field. We're both confident our summer goals are edging closer. 🙂
Great work both, not easy to turn up and run hard after work on a Friday evening! It looks like you've progressed really well towards your goals with the times getting quicker and quicker 👌
Luckily, I, Dawn, no longer work on a Friday, so that helped me as I don’t run well in evening races. John was working from home this Friday, so again, no normal commute...😁 We feel we're on track for the goals we've set ourselves, and this race was a bit of a confidence booster.
@@tworunningbrooms ah that's good. Good to see it all moving in the right direction. What your highest age grading so far Dawn? Was it 90% you said was the goal?
@timeonfeet yes, 90% is the goal, and I got 89.84 at Poole for 21.00. A time that used to be a steady run is now taking a whole lot of work to get under. 😁 The same goes for John, who used to run 16.xx with confidence. Never take what you have in running for granted, and accepting age is going to make you slower too is a lesson we've learnt along the way. Age grading has helped me to accept that. 😁
@@tworunningbrooms That's a phenomenal age grading, I've very rarely seen something like that on the parkrun results list! It's a good way to keep pushing too even if it's not a lifetime PB it shows clear progression. I'm sure you'll get that 90% 👍
Great video both, and well done on your performances. I was at the Sale Sizzler 3 on Friday 21st also (race bib 757), not as quick as you two but quicker than I achieved 2 weeks earlier at Sale Sizzler 2 as it was way too hot. If I'd known you were going I'd have said hello:)
Well done Andy. We only realised it was on the previous Tuesday. John has been making a video about Ron Hill so thought it a good place to race!
Well run both - season's best always good. Hopefully now not far off a sub 20 and 21.
Thanks Tim. To that and beyond hopefully. Will be studying Po10 to set some challenging goals.
Awesome times Guys, really enjoyed the commentary with the 1k splits. Both of you are looking in fab shape, so besides the vast amount of training you are doing, have you changed your diet in anyway as you are both looking so trim!
The big change is alcohol. I was advised to back off whilst awaiting cardiology assessments so have stopped drinking after pretty much consistent input since University.
Dawn now rarely drinks. Only one when we're out for a meal. Or if it's a bottle of wine prize at a race.
Must be a Harry Ramsden's at a motorway service station on the way back 😂
Only about 5 miles of motorway. No services. We could have had a virtuous healthy meal from a Tesco but had earned the treat 😋
Congratulations to you both! I had been thinking about something John mentioned in the video about racing against the clock vs racing the people in the race. I just wondered when you would do one over the other and if you might even change this mid-race? I've found towards the end of a race unless I'm very close to a given time I try to race the people as extra motivation.
I would race if it were local scene and a rival old or new. Also if I were in contention for a category prize like I used to be.
For now I'm happy to work my way through fields as I described. I'm on a journey to hopefully better fitness where the race head comes back.
@@tworunningbrooms Season's bests are certainly good signs you're both heading in the right direction! 👍🏻
Congratulations on your fast fantastic times! Dawn why did you get the voucher?
She was first F55 in the race. £25 for a running shop in Wilmslow
Did you parkrun today?
@@tworunningbrooms excellent! I did at Penistone, a more steady and consistent 24:52. I was soaked before it started. Did you parkrun anywhere?
