Fishing for giant mudcrabs, family, muddy mangrove creeks, Queensland.
The Aussie Fishermen Greg, having a great crabbing day with a couple of his huge family.
It's Leon turn to pull up a crabpot, we always have a competition to see who gets the most bucks in a crabpot. We did a few videos that day so you will have to wait a few weeks to find out who won the competition. There is no prize only bragging rights Haha.
The ultimate pro crabpots I use are extremely good pots. This one had four mudcrabs in it. One huge buck ( male mudcrab ) two female mudcrabs, and a very interesting species called hermaphrodite mudcrab. It's like half female and half male mudcrab, it doesn't mate or carry eggs, doesn't breed. In Queensland we are aloud to catch and keep them. The...

Give them 15 minutes at boiling point. T...

My family have been eating mud crabs for over 50 years. Dad would never put his under tap water or ice. He would eat them not long after they were out of the boiled water. I reckon they have a slight garlic flavour. If they are cold they lose that taste. Still they are good the next day out of the fridge. We clean them before we boil them in my Grandmothers old bread tin. All done in salt no fresh water. We got many of our best crabs from Groper Creek in the Burdekin I use an old butchers steel to crack mine open. 🤠🦀🦀👍🤙

Mate you can catch muddies all year round weather doesn't have much to do with it. We have caught big full muddies in winter they were crawling on top of the pot as well as big crabs inside. Chicken frames the best. Excessive amount of crab pots and flogged out does slow them down. It's called pressure on the system. 🤠✅️🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀

This was a great video as usual and had so much useful information on crab condition and why not to be greedy and take everything. Love your work Greg, can you do your sandwiches again and maybe do your video tag could this be the best Crab sandwich ever? I saw the other one you did and I would vote for it I don't think there is anything like hunting it, catching it and cooking it Cheers Garry
