  • The Aussie Fishermen Greg, doing what he knows best 👌. Fishing for giant mudcrabs in the muddy mangrove creeks of Queensland, with his ultimate pro crabpots. Give them a try, they are the best crabpots I have ever used in the 46 years I been professionally Fishing. The weather has been really cold so I had to put some warm gear on.
Showing how to get the crabs out of the pot without damaging them.
How to tie them up the easy way for recreational crabbers to learn. It's very important to tie up the mudcrabs as you catch them. It's stops them from damaging themselves when you put them in a tub with holes in it to let the water out when you cool them down. plus it's a lot safer for the crabber Haha.
How to check if the crab is full of meat.
The last crab I tied up was a really good size for my area. He was probably about 2 kgs. That's nothing like the mudcrabs they catch down at Stanage Bay just south of us, they can get up to 4kgs, bloody monsters. I have a good friend there that I have known for a long time. Phil Mitchell he and I used to do some professional fishing together and have a couple of drinks and lot of fun. Not sure if Phil is still fishing and crabbing, I think his sons are pro fishing and crabbing.
You need to keep your mudcrabs in the boat cool and moist. The hot sun in North Queensland is not good for them, sometimes they will die before you get home from fishing.
Check out my new book on Amazon, just type in One More Chance Greg Sichter. I am pretty sure that you will enjoy it. It's 9 short stories about some of the things that have happened to me in my early days of professional fishing.
If you enjoy my fishing and crabbing videos, please like and share and subscribe, it doesn't cost anything to subscribe thank you 😊.
My next videos will be full of fun, I took Leon my brother and my niece Thea with me on my crabbing day. I was proud of my niece she had never ever touched a mudcrab and she tied a couple up and even picked up a cranky female crab that was running around in the boat. Well done Thea.😊😊
See you up the creek, The Aussie Fishermen Greg.😊.

I see you have a plastic plate where the bait goes in. I guess it stops the crabs from eating from the outside they have to enter the pot.

Hi mate, yeah I reckon it makes a big difference to your catch. If the crabs can get a free feed from the outside they will not go into your crabpot. Cheers Greg 😊.

Hi Aussie fisherman, I’ve purchased the same pots as you use, I’ve noticed you’ve changed the opening size that lets out undersize crabs. What have you changed it too as I had a legal crab walk out of it? Love your videos mate

@@danahmat451 Hi mate, thank you for your support. I have 107mm open. I admit it does let a few out, but it let's out a lot of small fish as well. If a few crabs get out they might be bigger next time you catch them. Cheers Greg 😊.
