- The Aussie Fishermen Greg, crabbing in the muddy waters of North Queensland. Best day's crabbing I had for years. Most of my ultimate pro crabpots had crabs in them they are the best crabpot I have ever used in the 46 years of being a professional Fishermen. I like to go right up as far as I can in these little gullys. It's been a really good year for catching mudcrabs in most of the state. I believe it's the weather and a lot of other things that make good seasons.
I had to hurry up and get out of that gully before the water drained out and I would be stuck there for about 8 hours waiting for the tide to come back in.
I have been using kangaroo for bait again, it's really great bait for catching mudcrabs.
It's easy to check it a muddies is full of meat, if not just release it and give it a chance to fill up.
I tie up the full ones, and put them in a tub with hessen bags to stop them from damaged each other and keeping them cool and wet. Best way to keep them alive.
