you've taken me from randomly getting recomended one of your videos to like actually starting to watch baseball and be a fan, I found baseball boring my entire life but knowing the lore and having you to help break it down in an entertaining way has gotten me invested
I wish the MLB would do more in the way of educating potential fans of the nuances of the game. I never understood how people find baseball boring, I grew up loving it and played through high school, until I met my wife and she talked about how boring she found it. After I watched a few games with her and walked her through what you should be watching, she became a fan, sometimes I'll find her watching games by herself now and she's the one pushing me to go to games. It's an incredible sport, but I do think you have to know how to watch it.
A year ago, I was handed the hardest year I've ever had to deal with as a Mets fan. Not only because the most expensive team in baseball collapsed hard enough to sell at the deadline, but I also ended up watching my Aunt and Uncle, who were both huge Mets fans, die from separate health issues. Not only did I have to deal with that grief, but emptying their house meant throwing out Mets memorabilia lying in storage (I saved a couple things though). Now, the Mets performed one of the greatest comebacks in MLB history, finally beat our boogeyman in Atlanta to clinch a playoff spot, have one of the most amazing games I've ever seen to do it, and now they have won at least one playoff game. Needless to say, this year has been therapeutic for me. I still miss my Aunt and Uncle, and I always will, but with this, I'll be OK. They're cheering for you on the other side as hard as I am here. Lets go Mets.
Sorry for your loss my friend, the Mets have embodied resilience like no other, the craziest season I've ever watched and I've been a fan for 30 yrs. Your aunt & uncle are watching over you & them. That last game was a sign that things can get better no matter how bad it gets. I hope this lifts you & your family as high as ever! LGM, blessings from flushing ❤

The same wouldve happened to san francisco and seeasshole if their owners and cities were just as stingy.

Oakland sports being destroyed by greedy owners is a terrible precedent for sports as a whole, As playing in a minor league stadium with no home while the commission allegedly strong armed the owners to approve it is laughable

This oakland athletics story feels so fucking alien for me who lives in Brasil. If shit like this happened with ANY football club here, people would fucking riot. I feel sorry for the fans...
Happens somewhat often in the US and people do riot. More often, it's threatened as leverage to get the city to pay for a new stadium (on the taxpayers' dime naturally). I only know of one case in futbol and that's the original Wimbledon team moving 10 miles up the road to Milton Keynes and that was a national controversy in England
As a Tigers fan, the way you switched gears between the White Sox and Detroit was way too smooth. You also summed up August perfectly. Traded Flaherty to the Dodgers, DFA'd our former #1 pick Spencer Torkelson (actually it was earlier I think), Baez got hurt even though he was no good, traded Mark Canha to the Giants, and traded Kelly and Chafin to the Rangers. No one would've thought this is how our regular season would end. Hinch is a magician. Proved to me that he could do it without cheating too. Bless Those Boys.
As an Arizona Diamondbacks fan, this was probably the most disappointing season in our franchise's history. Coming off of an incredible ride to the World Series last year, the highest payroll in franchise history, the most talented roster we've had since 2002, expectations of consistently being a playoff team that could contend for championships, and a young core that could last for a decade. And, we had a wild card spot literally gift-wrapped it for us and we blew it badly. We got the Torey special again, like in 2018. It might be time for him to go.
Are you kidding? Hell no it's not time for Torey to go. We had the best offense in baseball and it wasn't even close. We failed to make the playoffs pretty much entirely because our pitching was bad, but our pitching was absolutely ravished by injuries. Our top 3 starters were all injured at the same time for a huge chunk of the season, then coming back and not performing to their usual standards since they had been injured for months. Zac Gallen pitched with a fractured leg for 4 months. Despite all of the above we were the hottest team in baseball for a couple of months and nearly made the playoffs, and almost certainly still would have if Moreno, CWalk, and Marte hadn't all gotten injured at the same time completely killing our momentum. Our starters were finally starting to find their rhythm. We picked up Puk in the pen who was freaking godlike. Run this season back with slightly better injury luck and we're a 100+ win team, no problem. We got damn unlucky with injuries. Only thing I can really blame Torey for is leaving Sewald in so much when everyone could tell he's cooked, but even then I get it. When Sewald was hot he was amazing, and by all reports everyone in the locker room loves him. Torey wanted to give him the chance to get his confidence and his mojo back. It didn't work out.
@@Saritiel Torey has been with us for 8 years and he is known for his late August to September collapses. This is the exact same thing that happened in 2018, but even worse. Torey is very much loved by the players, but he is very sketchy with his baseball tactics and it's costed us a few seasons. Yes, we went through a lot of injuries. But, our replacements kept up the slack for a bit and the injured players came back not looking the same for a bit. Don't get me started on Montgomery because I thought we got rid of Madison Bumgarner and I didn't think Texas was poisonous with another one; so, thank goodness it's a one-year deal.
@@G_54-GMG hate to break it to ya but Montgomery has a player option for $22.5m next year and no one is paying him more than that coming off of this train wreck of a season. Kendrick is talking sht about how bad signing him was publicly to try and piss him off and get him to leave and not pick it up lmao. If Torrey leaves I’m fine with it. Everyone bags on Sewald with four blown saves, but he let Thompson blow SEVEN last season. And ginkel blew six. Partially on Torrey, partially bad luck our top 3 relievers crapped their pants this year, and partially on our FO adding zero relievers in the offseason when we only had 3 we could count on. Such a terrible way to end a season, our pitching self destructed.

Twins basically turned into the White Sox for the last month. Cleveland series they at least battled. 95% chance and then couldn't even be relevant in the last week.
Here's the generational lesson: if you're trying to grab a million dollar ball, put the phone down! Jesus! (unless that phone recording is used in court to win this legal battle, of course...it probably won't)
It's a shame it's not considered "crazy enough" because Judge has been an animal for 3 years straight now, but he did just have the single greatest offensive season EVER for a right handed batter and is the first player since Barry Bonds to finish the season with a SLG% over .700.
Fisher should be stripped of the team, the team then given to the fans (ala the Green Bay Packers) and then if they move they move but at least deny him his happiness. He doesnt deserve it
Believe it. The city of Oakland is horrendous and drove all of their major sports teams out. What’s amazing is people somehow thinking the A’s are somehow different than the Raiders and Warriors. Always want to blame the wrong people instead of looking at the reality all around them.
13:56 The fact he got the 50-50 on some insane version of the cycle is almost unbelievable and we have video evidence. I was amazed by the 40-40 with the winning grand slam but this makes him the greatest of all-time in my book.
Once Ohtani was nearing 50/50, MLB started pre-authenticating all of his balls. Whenever he would come to the plate, the umpire would switch out the balls for the authenticated ones. But definitely weren't juiced though right?
@@ghost64626 I doubt they were juiced, because think about it, if you have definitely authenticated balls (is that actually proper grammar?) anyone who would catch one of them could let them be analysed scientifically, and it would be a great scandal if it turns out the balls Ohtani used were indeed juiced. MLB would be fucking stupid to do that.

As a D-Backs fan, I think it is extremely dumb that the Mets, despite what the Braves have denied them of in the past, let their arch rival win in the second game. They did not try to win at all and thus, stopped the Diamondbacks of their rightful spot in the playoffs.
It sucks but why would the Mets risk injuries and kill their pitching staff just to deny the braves a spot? Now because they got to take an easy the second game they now have an advantage in playoffs over the braves if they ended up meeting them.
why risk injuries going into the playoffs when you have your spot secured? modern front offices may not be the best at keeping players healthy but they're smart enough to know that there's 0 point in going all out for a game that only matters to teams that aren't theirs.
As a diehard Mets fan, I agree. I don't care if it was extra strain, I really wanted us to fuck over the Braves. Y'all deserved that spot... even if I guess that would've been an illogical move on our part💀

I like to point out
Mets and MLB asked Braves to move the games up
They refused because of money reasons
They had a open day
The monday before the series, they knew about the storm and braves refused to move it up
Ok , so it's the braves did it to themselves... why would they do that ?
@waxknucklebearingjuice5592 money
Vendors alot of reasons apparently
Better question. Why do you expect a business to do whats right for you. They don’t care about you and never will.
@@isiight. MLB should of forced them
@@eznf98 nope. You don’t live in reality. Money is more important than how you feel. Pitchers arms are more important than how you feel. The sooner you realize you are irrelevant and have no impact on how games and the mlb goes the sooner you can just appreciate it for what it is.
Remember ohtani missed 60 steals because of a stupid balk that was caused because ohtani was stealing 2B.
Fucking Mookie
15:04 what kind of pitch was that?? 68mph? what did they expect would happen?
Its was a slaughter already so I am guessing the other team had a position player throwing balls. I think it is one of those unwritten baseball rules to just kinda let the game end.
I think you get thrown at if you just start crushing homers off a position player.
@@andrewturner1354no team let alone the marlins have the balls to throw at ohtani
They usually put positional players in when it's 10+ runs to 0, they don't want their pitchers getting hurt.
position player was pitching because it was a blowout
Intentional and/or position player.
Thanks for the recap. I can't believe I didn't watch a game all this year. I have to watch some post-season games
Like we were gonna hurt our own players. We love our Oakland Athletics, and we just wanted to share the love of Oakland with our guys
thats exactly what i said while watching, like the players are just doing their job. its mgmt that needs a second pair of eyes
My dude, your videos are ELECTRIC. A relentless barrage onf information and entertainment. 10/10
11:38 this beat goes unnecessarily hard 😂😂
Oakland sports being destroyed by greedy owners is a terrible precedent for sports as a whole, As playing in a minor league stadium with no home while the commission allegedly strong armed the owners to approve it is laughable
Yea, it’s greed that’s making them leave Oakland. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the city basically being a 3rd world country.
i absolutely loathe the A's because they used to terrorize the AL West back in the days before the rest of the league caught up. i can't sit here and say seeing those legendary fans come back for one more game didn't make me tear up. goddamn. takes me back to the final Sonics game. i feel your pain Oakland. you guys got it 2 times worse than we did.
The cadence at which this guy speaks is so uncanny but also very fitting. Makes baseball seem real.

As a lifelong Tigers fan, it's been an incredible ride as of late. Watching the segment on 'em brought tears to my eyes - they're so fkn special
Freezed my ass off opening day at the top of comerica park and I couldn’t be happier lol what a great season
You saying "Kerry Carpenter turned into Babe Ruth..." at 5:47 so casually threw me off so much, I laughed way too hard and had to pause the video LMAO
"The Astros... were in last place. Somehow, they won the division. Again."
Oh boy time to turn up the audio during their games again😂
Haha wow, that's the most original thing I've ever read! Haha!
@@Jordan-q4n6glooks like any mention of it still strikes a nerve
I love your videos during the playoffs! I am so excited to have you post again
The quality/content of these videos and the ability to keep me hooked is amongst the best in all of RUclips. Love it.
13:27 it’s hard not to like a guy on a rival team when he brings his dog out for the first pitch. Like I want to hate you but now I can’t

Can't believe they moved the A's out of Oakland, just don't feel right :(
I was amazed by the 40-40 with the winning grand slam but this makes him the greatest of all-time in my book.
did the guy get the ball authenticated is the only question i ask
Once Ohtani was nearing 50/50, MLB started pre-authenticating all of his balls. Whenever he would come to the plate, the umpire would switch out the balls for the authenticated ones. But definitely weren't juiced though right?
No clue 🤷
@@ghost64626 Why can't the MLB just pre-authenticate every ball that is pitched? every single ball is fully accounted for anyway, right?
@@ghost64626 I doubt they were juiced, because think about it, if you have definitely authenticated balls (is that actually proper grammar?) anyone who would catch one of them could let them be analysed scientifically, and it would be a great scandal if it turns out the balls Ohtani used were indeed juiced. MLB would be fucking stupid to do that.
@@ghost64626 were the first 49 balls juiced?

This would all be so crazy if baseball actually existed
I've been so wrapped up in my own team's bull-s (Mariners) that I missed most of the amazing Mets-Braves-Diamondbacks drama. Shame on me.
This Ohtani coverage is about to make me cry, man. I'm so proud of our boy. He's been my favorite player since 2021 and I am so happy to have seen his 12th homer this year.
😂😂😂bro I love your videos, my favorite is your Manny Ramirez, it’s on my downloads, keep up the good work man, LFG Dodgers 💙❗️
As a D-Backs fan, I think it is extremely dumb that the Mets, despite what the Braves have denied them of in the past, let their arch rival win in the second game. They did not try to win at all and thus, stopped the Diamondbacks of their rightful spot in the playoffs.
There was no incentive for them to be competitive in the second game. No reason to risk injury, when you're already locked into the playoffs.
Win or lose the 2024 Mets lore is possibly the most unhinged Hollywood bait I've ever been alive to witness. We won game 1 vs. Brewers yesterday, too. LFGM.
