How to make sure the mudcrab is full of meat. Press the shell segments under the crab. If the shell is really hard and that you can not move, the crab should be full of meat in most cases. When the crab shell is soft, there will be no meat in the mudcrab. The mudcrab should be released if soft, back into the water soon as you take it out of the crabpot, after checking. The mudcrab sheds its shell to get bigger. In a few weeks' time, the crab will be full of meat.
Tying up a mudcrab, there is a lot of different ways to tie a mudcrab. When I was very young, I used to catch mudcrabs on the weekend and sell them to the local pub before school. For some pocket money, mum always wanted me to bank it in the school bank they had those days. I used to spend it on myself and my mates at the tuck shop. My dad taught me a different way to tie mudcrabs it was a bit harder to do. So I decided to teach people this way because it is a lot easier.
