  • The Aussie Fisherman Greg, fishing for mudcrabs, releasing and showing how to recognise a female mudcrab. I am so lucky to be able to work in the muddy mangrove creeks of northqueensland Australia. I call these Queensland waters my office, it doesn't get much better than this ever work day.
In Queensland, it is illegal to take female
we have to release them straight away.
When I did this video, it was just before Christmas. It was great to catch so many crabs then. Christmas is one of the times we get really good prices for our mudcrabs. Which helps make up for the low prices we get sometimes.
Mudcrabbing is not a big money-making business. The costs, like fuel, bait, costs of packaging, air freight, fishmarkket takes 9% as well. So there is not a lot left. The main reason I keep doing it is that I love my job, like I always say it beats working for a living, haha. There is probably another reason I might stop crabbing and fishing is our government keeps changing the rules and making it harder to make a living. Why I don't know, we are only providing freash local seafood to the public.
I have some videos coming soon about catching huge blackjewfish.

Hi Tun, not here where I live, but we still have been getting to much rain. The mudcrabs don't like too much freash water. Cheers Greg 😊
