I had heard the owner was trying to get financial backing, but couldn't get it, and had scrap the entire project. I had the opportunity to visit the park in 1982,and it really was a nice little park, and set up. Went back in 1984, and found it was changed to a camp ground, which was disappointment. The western town was very realistic, and the area of fantasy land was a nice touch. One roller-coaster, Cyclone, similar to Jumbo Jet at Cedar Point was a fun ride.

Great ride but surprisingly strict operators - when I was there they didn't want people to put their arms up and to keep.feet flat on the floor.

I'm so glad I tried this last year - I wasn't sure what to expect but it became a far favorite!

I love Whips! Kennywood's might be my favorite but I've also ridden Knoebels, Dorney, Rye Playland, Camden, and Hershey's. Looking forward to Eldridge Park reopening one someday (even if it is a bit of a hike). Their inspired rides Mater's Junkyard Jamboree at DCA and Alient Swirling Saucers at WDW are also great fun!

I love Kennywood - Turtle, Whip, Noah's, and Kangaroo are all awesome!

Wow. That place has not changed much in the past 50 years. I was a young lad in 74 when I went on that ride.

That's a very enjoyable ride. It's strange though how one leg of the trip is so much shorter than the other.

I used to assemble/disaaemble and operate the Zipper for 2 years. Had a blast.

The State of Ohio gave money to the park, I believe it was some sort of jobs creation thing. My wife and I thought it was a scam, as it was built literally in the middle of nowhere.

There's one in England, at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, but the racing mechanism is disconnected. The only other one I've seen was at Butlins Skegness. Does anyone know what happened to it?

Thanks for posting this! I lived in Cleveland in 1981, but made a side trip to Paradise Lake while on a trip to Kings Island. I couldn’t remember the name of the place or the exact location, but I remember it was right off I-70. I live in Columbus now and will have to pay more attention when I drive by Rt 513.

This was awesome. I remember driving by this place in the mid 80s and always wondering about what was here. Thanks!
