  • Mountain Gliders at Carowinds in Charlotte, NC.
This Bisch Rocco flying-scooter ride was originally built in 1940 for Coney Island in Cincinnati, OH. It operated until the park closed in 1971, being relocated the following season to Kings Island in 1972. Known at the time as Flying Eagles, it continued to run at (Paramount’s) Kings Island until 2004 when it and the Antique CarsLes Taxis antique car ride were replaced withfor Italian Job: Stunt Track (Backlot Stunt Coaster). The flying scooter ride was relocated once more to Paramount’s Carowinds in 2005, named Phantom Gliders inside the park’s Nickelodeon Central kids area. It was renamed again to Woodstock Gliders in 2010 when the area became Planet Snoopy. This ride moved in 2019 to the Blue Ridge Junction section of the park and adorned the current name of Mountain Gliders. NAPHA recognizes Carowinds for still operating this classic flying scooter ride, which has had a long-traveled history.
