Such a useful video! Our family had a phenomenal time at Carowinds this past weekend and your tips are spot on! Thank you! And thank you everyone at Carowinds for such a wonderful experience!
Thank you for this comment! I appreciate it! I’m glad you guys enjoyed my home park! 🎢❤️
@@TP_Recommendationsbro the disrespect for hurler I think carrowinds has 5 major rides
Lover ur channel though
And now, a few tips from your resident Carowinds Employee.
STAY HYDRATED!!!! This is a major one, people. You're in the South during the hottest months of the year. Temps are in the 90s or even triple digits. Add to that a high humidity, and heatstroke is a big thing you want to avoid. I recommend the all-day drink bottle because with how much you'll be drinking. Bottles of water are upwards of $4, too, so it pays for itself over time. If you don't like plain water, there's a Coke Freestyle machine across from Hurler, so you can get flavored water. However, if you don't want to pay for water, food and beverage places will be more than happy to supply a cup upon request. (Just don't ask merchandise employees, as the coolers there are just for employees.)
Make sure to bring a strap for your glasses or sunglasses. You'll need them to ride rides like Fury 325 or Copperhead, and thus they're very popular and likely to sell out quickly.
If you're looking for specifically Carowinds merchandise, then Premiers, Pier 73, and the ride gift shops are your best bet. I would not recommend going to Thrills for Carowinds merchandise, because that mainly focuses on name brands.
Make sure to bring a couple $5s if you're planning to ride Fury or CHS, as you'll need to rent a locker to put your stuff in, and unfortunately we removed ATMs. Merchandise associates (like me) can break larger bills, but it will require the managers. Depending on where they are, it could take >5 minutes.
Make sure your phone is fully charged and probably bring a spare battery too, because (at least for 2021) the park isn't offering paper maps, and the Carowinds app has a digital map as well as ride times updated throughout the day.
Another 2021 only tip, but the Skytower and PVZ are down due to COVID, so the only "cool-down ride" the park offers is Boo Blasters on Boo Hill, our shooting dark ride.
Try to get the last ride/2 on Fury, because the ride ops might let you one more time. YMMV on this, however. Brandon is right, the Fury team is amazing.
Finally, if you're heading from now until mid-August 2021, most days of the week, stop by Thrills and say hi to Corey. That's me, and I'll try to leave you with a smile.
There are your tips from your friendly everyday Carowinds employee*!
*Please note that all opinions stated here are my own, and not affiliated with Carowinds/Cedar Fair.
Hey Corey! I will have to come say hi sometime! Thanks for these tips! I’m to pin this comment.
I'm going down there either tomorrow, or Wednesday. Might stop by. As for the paper maps, I'm a little sad, as I collect maps. I have a Carowinds map from every year 2015-2019
i just put my glasses on after they disbatched the trains, lol
@@hedgester251 that's fine now when your glasses fall off don't complain
@@agyt4291 Exactly. The straps are to make sure they don't fall off, or hit someone.
I love night rides on afterburn, especially since they allow re-rides if there is no one waiting in your row’s queue line. I recommend the next to the last row. It gives a back of the train ride experience, but rarely has people waiting for the next ride like the last row usually does. Last year, I got 11 consecutive rides without ever leaving my seat in the next to the last row!
Wow that’s awesome Judith! Thanks for watching! - B
@@TP_Recommendations Meeting me there is
On one of the last days of the season a last season I got to ride intimidator just 2 minutes after the park closed and we were the last ride operating in the park.
Oh no it doesn’t. You need to go actual back row do get the most out of that ride
I have the opportunity to call Carowinds my home park and I appreciate all these tips and I will use them the next time I go!
You're welcome glad we share the same homework :)
carowinds is my home park and we get a season pass every year but we found that wednesday’s the best day for us.
also yes vortex is such a bad ride always have a headache after it lol
I was at Carowinds last week and we stayed at the Springhill and I cannot recommend it enough, it was great. Clean, friendly staff, free breakfast, and super close.
Visited this place a week ago, had such an awesome time! The park has such a good atmosphere, the coaster collection is great, the food is great (at least for theme park standards) and overall it’s just a very nice park.
Yea the food is great! Overall a nice well rounded park!
@@TP_Recommendations Very much
I agree, the SpringHill Suites is really nice and very walkable to and from the front gate. I enjoyed staying there immensely on my last trip to Carowinds.
I was at Carowinds this past Wednesday and had a great time! Fury 325 was EPIC! Easily the best Giga I've rode!
Brandon always post posts a carowinds video after I go to carowinds lol. Also, the magic seat on fury is no joke. I did it today and it slapped.
Way to ride FURY without me! smh! haha
Hey odd question but how do I get over my rollercoaster fear . I almost have a panic attack at the start
@@dustinmyers3686 If you are scared of the forces and feelings, then start smaller and work your way up. That way, you can adjust to the forces. Start with a kiddie coaster or family coaster with a small drop, then move on to a larger ride like a GCI or Other wooden coaster. After that, go up to a ride with an inversion or two, and then a ride with a big drop and some airtime moments like a B&M hyper, and then I think you should be good.
@@zerogcoasters so don't go jump on the fury to start with
@@dustinmyers3686 unless you want to have a deathly fear, then no.
Haha the goose was like “it’s hot I’m going to the wave pool for a few”
Heh soggoose aka soggy goose
As a long time Carowinds (1983-on) goer here's my tips :
1. DONT NOT EAT AT CAROWINDS. unless you are rich or are willing to take out a small loan for the family meal. Eat before you get there.
2. Absolute best time to go to avoid crowds for season pass holders? Sunday morning first thing. You're in at 10am, ride all the major rides before the crowds come, you're out of the park by 1pm.
3. During summer, the black top pavement will COOK you. Stay hydrated. I believe Carowinds doesn't charge for water.
4. Scarowinds is in the fall and temperatures are nice. Scarowinds highly recommended but not for little kids.
5. Best option for locals...buy a season pass. It will pay for itself after 2 visits AND you won't have to pay the ridiculous parking fees.
These are truly some great tips for visiting Carowinds, no question. I am blessed like you to call Carowinds our Home Park too. Great video and I hope to see you soon!!
Next time I am there I will try the Blue Ridge Country Kitchen. The one thing I don't like is that at Carowinds they don't let you wait for the seat you want. Ive had the front on Fury a few times by luck but never on Copperhead Strike. I was at Kings Dominion and they have no problem letting you wait for any seat. I wish Carowinds would do the same. It bugs me when parks don't let you wait.
Yes, that is my biggest coaster pet peeve. Row assignments create a negative vibe that legitimately takes away from the enjoyment of the ride.
Ask nicely - they may let you… I always ask for the backrow on fury and I don’t think I’ve ever been told no. Lol
Depends entirely on how crowded the park is. If you manage to get a weekday where it rained early afternoon and everyone left, they'll let you sit wherever you want. But if you show up on the Fourth of July, you're getting whatever row they stick you in and that's that.
Got a ride on Fury's magic seat last week. That drop tried to send me to the freakin' moon!
Thanks for this. I’m visiting Carowinds for my first time ever in a month.
Nice. Might come out here but not sure still making plans of where to go from my GAD visit in a few days and when 😂
Great video! Had an awesome time when I went to carowinds in 2019! Would love to do more of the flat rides next time I’m there! You should do a video like this for kings dominion!
Thank you and I plan on it :) Thank you for watching!
I'm there right now, finally! Will be here for 6 days. I've been watching this video each morning so far to keep it fresh in my mind.
I'm going next Wednesday with my friends! I'll keep these in mind
Lol wow . Vortex is a fun coaster . It's been my home park for 20 years now and I still love everything there . Except drop tower but that's because I don't free falling .
Pumped for our first visit to Caroline’s tomorrow. Iron Gwazi & Fury 325 in the same year, yes please. Thanks for the tips!!!
I live only 20 minutes away and i’m going again next week, so thanks for the tips!
Great video and tips, especially the bathroom tip 😂....i have driven from my house in FL to my parents place in Buffalo maybe 30-40 times over the past 20 years and always go right thru Charlotte on i77. NOT ONCE have I ever stopped at Carowinds. I am terrible, I know, but plan on it next time I travel North. I've got most other parks, but just never stopped for a day. The addition of Fury 325 and copperhead strike has quadrupled my interest in finally stopping now.
You need too! Don’t ever travel up 77 north and not stop and ride Fury! That’s a coaster sin lol
Carowinds has been my home park since I was born, 2011. I live close to there so I always go!
Gonna use this guide for when I go to carowinds this summer august 1-3!
Awesome!!!
Perfect timing for this vid! I'm going in mid July for the first time!
That’s great! Hopefully the operating calendar will include longer days for ya!
Super useful! Thanks so so so so much!
copperhead is still amazing after 15 years of me being there
I'm going on Thursday and I leave to head down there today! I'm SO EXCITED!
Enjoy!!! So, Thursday should be a great day for rides! Don’t expect too long of lines! At least, last Thursday was empty!!
Great video! Carowinds is my home park too!
Same here!
We're neighbors! haha
Just went to Carowinds they definitely upped their game, highly recommend it.
Back left on fury is unmatched
Good video! I love carowinds, and I cant wait to hopefully go again this year! Also I didnt find vortex to be that bad, I didnt really get the hate for it
Oh my gosh, I'm going in August!!! THANK YOU!!!
Of course!!!
Your content is great, I really enjoy your videos.
Thank you!!!
We are going to Carowinds this summer. Really looking forward to it as I haven’t ridden many world class coasters. Definitely getting fast lane as this could be my only trip ever.
Hey! You will love it! You will also start planning your next trip after your visit :)
@@TP_Recommendations lol, is that an official prediction? Thanks!
fitting that im seeing this video the night before i go to carowinds, thanks for the magic seat info, ill be sure to try it, also youtube, are you listening to me?
I rode every seat on Copperhead back to back. That ride honestly isn't as simple as front or back. Row 6, left seat is the best on the whole train imo.
I'm going for the first time in August. Good tips. And I have to get the fast lane coming from Chi-Town
Yes get the fast lane unless there’s rain most of the day :)
Another time that in my opinion is a good time to go to carowinds is about like 6pm because now in the summer it gets really hot so in late afternoon the weather is really nice and there is not much people at the park
I’m from the Fort Mill area and also live around 10 minutes from Carowinds!
I went for the fist time just two days ago and made the mistake of going on copperhead second... it completely traumatized me
Why’s that?
@@TP_Recommendations it was only my second coaster and I'm not used to being upside down. plus, it pinned my head to the lapbar. I would totally do it again though, just gotta be more prepared lol
That’s great to hear lol
Nice tips!
Fury back row left end seat is FIRE
I can't wait to go.I can finally go on the fury because him older now😁
I love Carowinds it’s my home park also best theme park ever
Kinda late but if your going on a rainy day for some reason you should go on after burn front row sure the rain might hurt but it makes it way better
I have lived in North Carolina all my life basically. I don't get to go much. More often when I was younger. I got to go last Saturday for my anniversary. Me my husband and my daughter and her daughter and her younger son. First time on Furry and intimate. It was awesome. I rode Furry 2 time. It was my favorite ride and intimater.
thx for this
No water rides in the main park. That is weird. But I am sure they cost a lot to operate and maintain.
We will be heading to Carowinds this Friday for my birthday, and you better believe I will take all of your tips and use them! (Fun fact, I used to be terrified of coasters, but I rode the Fury the year it opened and it was my very first roller coaster! Now I’m hooked.) Can’t really be scared of the rest when you ride the biggest one first, right? 😌 thanks for the advice!!
That’s awesome Amber ! Happy birthday!!! How old will you be? Fury is running phenomenal this year!!!
@@TP_Recommendations Thank you so much! I’ll be 23 😁 I’m so happy to hear that! I can’t wait to enjoy it again!
Party time! Haha 😂
if you ride fury 325
go to row 8 seat 1
my favorite seat
afterburn row 8 far right seat
I’d LOVE to go to carowinds. Fuuuryyyyy🤤
Carowinds is my closest park and I would recommend a Season Pass Gold because it's cheaper then a two day and you will want 2 days at this wonderful park. I would also recommend the Fast Track because no one wants to wait to have fun. I would recommend Carowinds over numerous parks. If Cedar Fair would take their heads out of their asses Carowinds would be a year around park already. I enjoy this park more than any of the Orlando Parks.
I agree it needs to be a year round park 100%
I be coming for the first time in mid august that be interesting but fun
I need to get there sometime, it's really not that far from me
ayyy i love carowinds!!
It’s a great park! Thank you for watching!
I would like to visit there, I will visit there in June 2022 for fury 325, Afterburn, Intimidator 232, Cooperhead, and etc.
I love the fury
I’m going in 2 weeks let’s goo. Thanks for the tips!
Edit: Also I can’t find what rides are open for early entry or if it’s even a thing at the moment. Does anyone know the early entry situation right now? Thanks
I honestly don’t think they have one..: that could change in July though.
I remember download the carowinds park app from cedar fair but in six flags park has in 1 app only but the cedar fair was not they have own app but thanks for this
Best advice for Nighthawk 1:48-1:50. XD
Cedar fair apps suck. Wait times are unreliable. When I was at Carowinds, it said a few coasters were closed that were operating
Did you say Sundays are a great day to visit? At my local waterpark, that is by far the busiest day of the week. I am planning to be at Carowinds on Sunday-Monday in a couple weeks, so I would love it if Sunday was actually a good day.
This year is different unfortunately… but when the park opens at 10 on Sunday’s, it s a great day if you get there for 10-12… minimal lines
Planning a trip here soon… I bet your ride ops crew isn’t better than mine. lol I was ride operator at Sheikra down at Busch Gardens Tampa a few years back
Omg I’m going to caroiwnds Tuesday 😀😃😃
You'll have a great time! :)
:D
Gonna be going to Carowinds for the first time this summer on my way down to Florida as a halfway point. Do you think me and my family can do all the coasters without a Fastlane in a day and a half? We're going for half the day on Saturday and all day Sunday.
If you’re going to Carowinds … ride them all.. including Vortex. Idk why people bash that ride so much. I really really enjoy it .. but then again I do like rough rides.. 🤷♂️
I live an hour away … I should go more often!
We went on June 19th and that same black dude for fury let us get preferred seating
That was helpful but I did have a few more questions about Carolina Harbor such as when to enter the park and what rides should I do first. And I am still giving Vortex a shot. I am pretty tolerable with coasters and I think I can handle whatever this ride will do.
Carolina harbor opens at 11 on most days.. I would say do Dorsal Fin But I think those slides are getting removed.
So I would do the tube slides on Blackbeard’s revenge first. Lower capacity.
Go to the wave pool in the back - doesn’t get as crowded.
@@TP_Recommendations Why would they remove that? They just added than along with Surfers Swell in 2014.
It’s had a long range of issues apparently
@@TP_Recommendations What kind of issues? Mechanical, capacity, accidents or something else?
Mechanical and a minor accident I believe
i just found out rip roaring rapids is closed for good and that made me sad since it was one of my favorite rides
Great tips!
Thank you! I’ll need some tips for Hershey when I visit in august!!!
Start from the back of the park and work your way up. That is the biggest thing. I might make a video on that in a bit.
Just saying vortex is so much fun and I love the coaster I hope they redo it so people will stop knocking it
Also, when you get the fast lane, do you still have to wait in a short line, or do you get to walk right on?
Depends on the line
For fast lane … so you might have a less than 10 minute wait while the main line is a lot longer… or you might have no line at all. All
Depends on how busy the park is.
Everything was a walk-on for me with my fast lane plus except for Copperhead Strike and Nighthawk....as Brandon says in the video, both have horrible ride throughput.
I know it does not apply to everyone but I feel you should of mentioned the alcohol rule they enforce at Carowinds, it was the only park I have ever been to that had that type of rule.
Trust me, people break it. Like, I've had people who came in who were obviously drunk once. They weren't bad guys, but it's obvious they had too much to drink. Heck, they still had beers in their hands.
Like he said DO NOT RIDE VORTEX your feet go numb like pins and needles and it takes so long to load on so when your sitting uncomfortable and in the heat or coold the waiting for the train In Front of you while your uncomfortable is horrible and it gets a crazy line for that same reason
As much as I hate to say it The electro spin is being disassembled I have photo proof on my TikTok i’m sure they replace it with something compact
They should add a mach power splash in the brand new open plot of land next to fury.
I guess I am in the minority, I really like Vortex. It is so much fun for me and I really enjoy it.
mannn I tried vortex once on my last trip there and it just REALLY hurt my legs throughout the entire ride, dunno if that's common or not but it really did not make me enjoy the ride experience lol
Just got a season pass and going on Thursday!! i’m only 1 hour away wish me luck:) xx
You’ll love it! Enjoy
I see a lot of people mention where to sit on Fury 325 and other coasters. I must ask, how do you even get the choice? Like on Steel Vengeance at CP, the park’s site says that seating will be assigned and there is no preference treatment
You ask - sometimes they will let you… hopefully they will. Usually they do.
Thank you for watching!
Yea if the lines not long they normally let you ask for a row
@@UpstopThrills When I went the signs made clear that they aren’t supposed to do that lol
@@thecoasterfollower3564 Yea it all depends on how cool the staff are
i disagree for the days to come, sunday is still PACKED, sometimes even more packed than Saturday, but you did say that it is different with covid so your actually correct when it’s not 2021 in 2019 Sunday was pretty much the same as Tuesdays
Wow the Mark Zuckerburg... Wow...haha
Yes, 2021 all things are off the table haha... Thanks for watching!
why does everyone hate on Vortex? that ride is sweet!!!
I got on intimidator first then nighthawk and then afterburn
I made a opps on nighthawk the only time I rode it I went to fury first and did nighthawk later in the day but it was closed until 1pm😂😂😂
can you do one for dollywood? :)
I always start with Fury 325 😬 and I make damn sure that I ride fury before closing
I told my husband that in my opinion I thought the intimidator was more scary bc of how many drops it has & how consistently intense it is. The drop on the fury is intense & bigger & there's a couple of more thrilling parts after that but I guess it just seems a little more chill after that drop. Like even if you're up, you'll be up there for a bit and it's just not a contious drop from the sky, u know lol? lol.
This lady on the intimidator behind me was trying to have a full on convo w/ me about how she bugs her husband about rides & how he hates them too. I didn't want to be rude so I legitimately tried to have to the convo on the more "calm" parts but lady shhh. I'm trying to enjoy the ride. I just told her I pretty much threw him out to the wolves & giggled. But I told him if he got the scariest 1... out of the way, & managed that, he'd be ok on all the other rides. Bc at least he already got that out of the way. Or wever frustrations and anger he has built up, release em and see it as therapy. Or just not over think it and just be about the moment. Be 1 w/ nature & pretend ur closer to God. My husband... hahaha in between his cussing & his frustrations he'd be all ty so much Jesus. I love you! Only him. It's like no matter what I said tho., & my constant ur gonna be ok after all his freakouts he'd still be all nah nah nah to hell nah flustered & sometimes frustrated w/ me. What r u gonna do? I'd just be silent sometimes & just laugh at him bc for me, weeeeee.
During school, after school seasons, even during holidays, I've still managed to pack in a good amount of rides. I went there yesterday and it seemed packed more than usual & the lines still didn't seem that long. Not that I'm complaining. But I think alotta of ppl have the same idea. Get there early, maybe leave early. No, I think it is show up late, leave an hr early. Bc that traffic is crazy. We're about 52 mins away but from 85, we hafta get on 77. And nothings more frustrating than ur guide on highways being a person w/ adhd. I need to know when it's safe to turn into a lane and which lane I need to be in advance that hasn't verged yet. I dont really need to know anything else bc its prob the obvious anyways. some highways r so compacted & fast, I dont have time to make last min(*sec) decisions nor can I really look back that quick needing to stay focused on what's on front of me, that I might possibly hit. On top of the weavers that make no sense.
I’ll be there for opening day and I’m coming from Ohio as well and we are about 2 hours from cedar point so we are getting fast lane for the day once available and I’m a gold pass holder so what do you recommend for us and we are staying at Drury Inn and Suites up the road from there
This is my home park and I love it but I have sworn off the drop tower after being stuck on it for an hour and a half. And I also swore of scream weaver because it almost caused my ears to bleed
Still love the park tho
I'm playing on Jul 30th or July 31st for just carowinds are those good days in ur opinion??
I’m going to carowinds on July 31
my school rented the entire park for my grade so if you have the chance to have the park all to yourself that would be best
What are some tips on loose articles for Carowinds? Do they have bins on the ride and if not do u recommend a strap bag or paying lockers?
Sometimes
Most rides have bins. Except for copperhead and fury. For lose articles you’ll need a locker. :)
I actually just went today. I bought a fast pass and I rode fury over 30 times in a row.
30 times!! Wow! What was your favorite seat?
@@TP_Recommendations the back was really damn good but I did like the front as well. I'd have to say back honestly the air time is insane
going in saturday I havent been since I was like 8 and too scared to ride roller coasters hopefully I dont chicken out
I just got riding the fury and the terminator
Thank you because of this video my dad fell off the copperhead strike and died. 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Thank you
No problem
I heard Cedar points raptor crew also has good operations.
They’ve always been a great crew!!!
Only ride Vortex for the credit, and don't make it the first ride of the day either, it'll make your body too sore to do anything else
i made it the first ride for me and my wife and it was the worst idea ever lol
How much did you pay your wife for allowing this? Lol
