  • Starship America at Hersheypark in Hershey, PA.
Made by Kasper Klaus from Germany in 1956, this ride originally opened as Roto Jet at Pontchartrain Beach in New Orleans, LA. It was bought and moved to Hersheypark in 1962 under the name Aero Jets. In the 1980’s, the classic thrill ride was given a futuristic spacecraft appearance and renamed Starship America. The attraction moved toward the front of the park in Founder’s Circle in 2005 where it continues to operate today. NAPHA spotlights Hersheypark for continuing to operate Starship America, an increasingly rare Kasper Klaus Roto Jet ride.

I was at Hersheypark. It was fun. That was years ago.
