40 + year steeler fan. Tomlin should have been let go years ago. Everyone hated the “old” Ben. But he was the one bailing them out with 4th Qtr comebacks. He was not the same player. But he was not the weak link. Coaching has been. Plus Tomlin has big say in player personnel
And every time us Steelers fans would complain about Tomlin or raise any issues Colin will say, “what are you guys complaining about?!?!? Do you know he’s never had a losing season, players love him, and he would win a job the minute he left Pittsburgh!” He’s made that rant many times. How can we legitimately draft a top 3 quarterback when Tomlin manages to cobble a season together every year in one of the toughest divisions that has us drafting in the 20’s?
The Steelers made a HUGE mistake resigning Big Liability Ben was pretty much finished. Dude was liable to throw 5 INTs in a game and they still gave him a big extension instead of prepping for the future. LOL
Idk, maybe, but the bigger mistake imo was extending Tomlin the last couple times his contract has been up. Tomlin's never gonna put a solid offense out on the field and they really need to pivot off him
Did Middlekauf really say that Nabers doesn’t fit the Giants offense? Are you kidding me? Nabers is a freak talent, like a JaMar or JJ or AJ. They can fit in any offense because they can do everything
These 2 say so much contradictory shit. If they didn't draft a high-talent offensive skill player, they'd bash them for that and say the organization is out of touch. They just have talking points that they always circle back to like a security blanket. "defensive coaches suck" "The league has pivoted to offense"

Def doing revisionist history with Belichick. Y’all forget before Mahomes, Reid was always criticized for his time management. Now it seems ppl forget that bc Mahomes is the great eraser
Thank you guys, we are so sick of the media giving Tomlin a pass because of his cute press conferences. We have been strategically out coached unable to develop Oline and LB’s for so long. 500 record is not the measuring stick.
"We don't romanticize football" which is exactly the problem. Belichick took Mac Jones to the playoffs in his rookie year. He coulda taken Cassell to the playoffs in 2008 if that wasn't the strongest AFC east in the entire Belichick-Brady era. Belichick did not have a plan. He didn't have a plan for the aftermath of Tom Brady in 2019. He didn't have a plan for the aftermath of McDaniels. Those are completely warranted criticisms. The benching of Malcolm Butler in SB 52. Warranted criticism. Super Bowl 53 was the greatest defensive masterclass of all-time. If Andy Reid does not have Spags as DC, Chiefs win ZERO super bowls. Andy got to the playoffs with Alex Smith, but didn't win. Andy lost to Belichick in the superbowl and the 2018 AFC championship game. If a head coach does not have a HOF QB they will not reach the top of the mountain 95% of the time. Belichick had his, and Reid has his now. The league favored Andy over the last 15 years. And Belichick-Brady still had another 10 year dynasty in that span. Andy is an incredibly brilliant coach and is on the Mount Rushmore. But the Belichick slander because of the way it ended is ridiculous. Also, remember when Andy Reid's coaching and poor clock management was blamed for every single time he came up short in the big games? Pepperidge farm remembers. Y'all focus too much on today and tomorrow than yesterday. Context matters.
This is preseason. Last year yall said KP8 and the steelers were SB bound in preseason. Maybe the media needs to be more realistic because yall are and been under 500. Drop 🎤!

Rhamondre Stevenson, Christian Barmore, Mike Onwenu, Christian Gonzales, Pop Douglas, Keion White are all good pieces currently on the Patriots that are a part of the last 4 Belichick drafts. Not the greatest hit rate, but not paying attention to the good just to accentuate the bad is the only time Colin grinds my gears.
Colin regurgitates the same takes daily. Sean McVay and Sean Payton best coaches who ever lived. Offensive coaches > defensive coaches, league "pivoted" to offense years ago. Blah blah blah.
A good argument for Reid over Belichick is their coaching trees. Many of the coaches that Reid trained went on to flourish whereas Belichick's have been disasters. Although maybe that makes Belichick even greater that he dominated with terrible assistants lol... Lombardi is above both though
Colin again with his offensive coach bullshit. Don’t these coaches have GM’s. But since they’re defensive coaches the blame goes to them. But you give the Giants a pass because it doesn’t fit your offense coach agenda.
Yes sir, totally agree. I hate when he says that. Offensive coaches have their limits too. Just goes to show you Colin's getting older, stubborn, and the game is starting to pass him by.
It's the most tired, over-used conversation point ever. He ignores successful defensive coaches that go against his point and he also ignores failed offensive coaches. He just lists some examples that make his point and then they go on to worship offense week after week. We get it, offense is important, but doesn't every team have an offensive coach called the OC? Why does it matter if the head coach is offensive?
Steelers and raiders should be looking to get Shedeur in the top 10 next year . Just get to 6 wins so the season isn’t a total waste Ps idk why any team would draft a qb from duke or unc lol D jones Trubisky Maye Howell
Colin, your bias against Brock Purdy is disqualifying. There is no credible justification for you to avoid an MVP finalist in a discussion of QBs that Aaron Rodgers is not better than. You are embarrassing yourself. You need to stop selling yourself as a guy who can spot things early. You clearly cannot spot something even when a first year starter is historically good en route to the Super Bowl. Get another job!
And btw of all the problems the Giants have, Daniel Jones is like problem number 14 seriously. It’s always the sign of mid, casual fans, they automatically blame the QB instead of looking at everything and seeing that the QB is set up to fail. Like what did we expect Jones to do with that atrocious O-Line and bottom skill core??
Tomlin is a prime example of what happens when you inherit a franchise QB your whole career. End of the Big Ben era, he's a good HC but he really got a huge headstart due to inheriting that SB ready roster early on. Led to being overhyped
Stop hating on BB he's the greatest regardless bro he beat Andy Ried and Tom Beat Mahomes head to Head 2wice so they can win a hundred SB they will never beat them guys out

But if you watched him play a whole game in real time. You can see somethings clearly bothering him. And Justin Fields is fun to watch at times. But you can tell he's not a Superbowl QB. It is what it is
Yea. Way Too early to count Pitt out. But, a very concerning situation for sure.
TOMLIN IS THE WEAK LINK
And every time us Steelers fans would complain about Tomlin or raise any issues Colin will say, “what are you guys complaining about?!?!? Do you know he’s never had a losing season, players love him, and he would win a job the minute he left Pittsburgh!” He’s made that rant many times.
How can we legitimately draft a top 3 quarterback when Tomlin manages to cobble a season together every year in one of the toughest divisions that has us drafting in the 20’s?
You guys might get your wish with that schedule you have this year, I don’t see much Ws with that offense.
He’s been saying Tomlin out for a few years now tbf
I’m not a jets fan but this constant slander on Rodgers is pathetic. At one point Collin said Rodgers had a low football IQ.
I've always thought that Tonkin was a mediocre coach. Why do people think he's good, because he talks like a drill sargent?
The Steelers made a HUGE mistake resigning Big Liability Ben was pretty much finished.
Dude was liable to throw 5 INTs in a game and they still gave him a big extension instead of prepping for the future.
LOL
Idk, maybe, but the bigger mistake imo was extending Tomlin the last couple times his contract has been up. Tomlin's never gonna put a solid offense out on the field and they really need to pivot off him
Andy is one fine NFL head coach and a great guy ...
John and Colin are what all sports talk shows and podcasts should be.
For a guy who claims he was a scout, john has some of the most football illiterate opinions you'll find anywhere
He doesn't. Belongs on a team like Indianapolis. He's gonna stink it up on Giants because he has no qb
The Aaron Rodgers hate is pretty much Skip vs. LeBron. Modern audiences want genuine takes that feel natural. Taking every opportunity to shit on Aaron just feels like a bit. Move on. I'm not a huge fan of Aaron's, but damn. Every episode you have to mention the man? Be careful Skip Cowherd.
Def doing revisionist history with Belichick. Y’all forget before Mahomes, Reid was always criticized for his time management. Now it seems ppl forget that bc Mahomes is the great eraser
U could say that criticism of Reid is negated by the BB criticism that his drafting was 💩 imo
Love Middlekauf and Colin!
The great Seahawks defense masked Russell’s weaknesses plus Russell Wilson speed has deteriorated greatly.
Colin has the best take on everything !!!
Thank you guys, we are so sick of the media giving Tomlin a pass because of his cute press conferences. We have been strategically out coached unable to develop Oline and LB’s for so long. 500 record is not the measuring stick.
haven't been back in a month... no politics colin thank you.
Really good episode, Enjoyed it!!
This is preseason. Last year yall said KP8 and the steelers were SB bound in preseason. Maybe the media needs to be more realistic because yall are and been under 500. Drop 🎤!
Yes! Pump the brakes on preseason analysis- lordy! These defenses aren't even operating with a defensive game plan, or adjustments. Real game action is so much different than lame preseason ball!
Lol please tell me who said that, no way that was a take by anyone.
I LOVE THIS FREAKING PODCAST. BEST SPORTS PODCAST TODAY.
Great listen heading home from work love the weekly chats
Big middlekauff fan, great pod
Tomlin has a hand in the draft as well- he does not get off the hook by saying he is given bad players- kenny pickett was his guy
Exactly
EXACTLY 😂😂 Where do people think Tomlin gets his players bruh
agreed, and then got fenced in by Pickett LOLOLOL, get it? Pickett fence? Do you get it? Look if you don't get it that's ok
I’m so glad Colin is also on the Bo train. He’s the most NFL ready guy with the best QB/offensive coach.
I locked in my Bo Nix for OROTY bet right after the draft
Colin went right to hating on the Steelers lmao
Facts
They didn’t say anything false
They didn't say anything that wasn't true
Teams cooked
That's why his numbers keep falling. He doesn't know football anymore
Never had a losing record as an NFL COACH epic lol
The hate of A Rodgers is crazy with Colin. The guy has not played yet, let it go and lest see. But because you don’t like the personality of a guy, you kill him every chance you get 😂😂
3 more years of Tomlin atleast ans mediocrity if we are lucky!
Yup
I forgot the name of the other dude, but he makes listening to Colin bearable.
Dude is a great football mind and kind of a zaddy.
I'm here for it.
The quote "...One can think deeply & be quite insane." sums up Cowherd
Underrated AF comment
As a Bears fan go ahead and start Fields in Pitt the 6th turns into a 4th if he starts 50% of the games. That being said he is BAD. One of the worst QBs in the NFL and his cult will see it again looking for someone to blame for his woes. He needs to switch positions or play in Canada as QB. It will never work in the NFL.
they're already blaming the OC and claiming the Steelers don't have enough weapons on offense. bad offensive line too apparently. it never ends
As a Packers fan… gonna miss him. 😔😂
@@crandonborthas a Bears fan... I bet you will lol
But why won't teams run what he had success with at OSU...Stroud is running what he had there so why won't Fields OC do the same?
@@Ep1cRainbowbelieve me, I’m no Fields defender but to be fair, the Steelers have some major retooling to do on the offensive side of the ball because god they’ve been terrible since Big Ben started falling apart
On defensive coaches. Kirk Cousins went to Minnesota and played well with Mike Zimmer, defensive coach. Zimmer hated Cousins. Conservative play calling. Wanting his defense on the field to finish games. KOC becomes the new coach, Cousins has a great year and in season 2 he's an MVP candidate before the injury.
Stingley was apart of that 2019 LSU team....kid is a BALLER!
Stingley was covering guys who were cooking in the nfl the next season as a freshman at LSU. Sauce is a scrawny guy who fights like someone who needs to survive. I love sauce. Dude is a detroit native and im flint town and down, currently live right outside detroit but you gotta be honest.
John talks with the confidence of someone with a successful resume.
"Thanksgiving of year two, I kinda know".
Yeah, like you "knew" with Jordan Love.
Had to pause right before he finished his question on the Giants. Been saying it this entire off-season. Giants will be the worst team in the league, have the number one overall pick, and draft Shedeur Sanders. Calling it now. Ok, back to the video.
I love John shutting down Bo Nix as best rookie immediately lol. Cj stroud having a defensive coach last year didn't slow him down one bit Colin. He can be good. Let's stop getting carried away.
We're back to blaming the coach for Russell Wilson's bad play
Brilliant work as always 🙏 ty
Naw the Kenny Pickett pick was crazy
Colin completely made that story up about the motorcycle lol
Rhamondre Stevenson, Christian Barmore, Mike Onwenu, Christian Gonzales, Pop Douglas, Keion White are all good pieces currently on the Patriots that are a part of the last 4 Belichick drafts. Not the greatest hit rate, but not paying attention to the good just to accentuate the bad is the only time Colin grinds my gears.
Kyle Dugger is another solid player from 4 years ago.
Steelers fan here, Tomlin got a life sentence and he loves it. Tomlin should of went with Big Ben.
Exactly
Suggesting a SB appearance by Stafford would make him career comparable to Rodgers is wild lol
Nick playing variety characters and being likable will keep you employed and less likely to be sued were great takes.
Tomlin isn't the only problem, the ownership is a problem too .
Daaaaaaammmm ...
say it loud!!!
The Steelers ownership is the main problem they’re the ones making the bad decision to keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result.
Thank you Marc your a man with a brain.
@@steelphantom9105 So how can we convince airhead Rooney to sell the team I would rejoice.
Colin beats this offensive/defensive coach thing to death! time for a new take kid, we heard you the first 3,000 times you brought it up!
Tomlin feels exactly like Andy Reid in the end at Philly
Bo nix is a stud 💯
Hoodoo tell it like it is!!!
I like Colin but LOL that college football coach ranking!
I wish you would do some live streams
Steelers and raiders should be looking to get Shedeur in the top 10 next year .
Just get to 6 wins so the season isn’t a total waste
Ps idk why any team would draft a qb from duke or unc lol
D jones
Trubisky
Maye
Howell
Colin doesn't see poor people Bruce Willis vibes.
🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈 right around the corner gentleman!
The talent in Pittsburgh is way better than the production. If McCarthy is considered a lame duck coach then what is Tomlin.
DEI hire.
He's a BUM!
Token diversity hire
Danny dimes milking the Giants while he can 😂
Bo Nix is a real one. This entire 1st round rookie QB class is legit.
Please stop the Bo Nix hype you will jinx him just let him show it on the field regular season.
problem with the steelers is we say this ever year " there bad and not good" but somehow they make the playoffs
Perfectly mediocre enough to never improve
Man there be some folks up in here speaking their real shit!!!
Ain't holdin back nuthin y'all!!!
I think Dan Lanning at Oregon is in the top 3 best head coaches in college, and I'm a Michigan fan
My boy Colin said he done with Daniel jones🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Same, 6 year starter and you still throwing that pick 6. Diabolical.
😂😂😂😂😂
@@LAvision lmfaoooo
He doesn't even know you
@@LAvision Diabolical is the word for it... Jones is pure trash and has been for a while.
Tomlin is a prime example of what happens when you inherit a franchise QB your whole career. End of the Big Ben era, he's a good HC but he really got a huge headstart due to inheriting that SB ready roster early on. Led to being overhyped
Stop hating on BB he's the greatest regardless bro he beat Andy Ried and Tom Beat Mahomes head to Head 2wice so they can win a hundred SB they will never beat them guys out
U lost credibility when u said KC can win 100 sbowls & it don't matter , lol if Reid & PM wins 2 more he overtakes BB as the coaching goat
Andy Reid is also very likable, while even Belichick doesn't like Belichick.
Tbf all BBs 'former players have said BB is hilarious off the field& away from the media , so I wouldn't judge him by media clips IMHO
Lol, Colin really can't get enough of Aaron Rodgers! 😂 But honestly, the real drama is the Steelers QB situation. Fields could bring some flair, but Wilson has that experience. Tough choice! 🤔🏈 Also, can we give some love to Caleb Williams? He looks like the future. 🌟
colin carved i
40:00 Middlekauf absolutely on the money on Brady-Belchick dynamic. Belichick could've only worked with Brady.
SO SO GOOD IMO
If you don’t have the most important aspect of an offense…(Line)….you are so limited and the defense plays downhill. Ben wasn’t the same, but what has dropped off and never recovered is that O Line.
It’s Pre-Season, every year it’s Pre-Season “Super-Stars” & others that look bad. But it completely turns around when the season starts…….. And Pittsburgh’s defense was Top 5 last year with everyone returning……..
