Maybe it’s because I’m from the UK, but it seems as if Russell is from a rather sheltered middle class family playing with rough boys and neither of whom understand each other. This video left out a very telling story about Russ' time in Denver. The Broncos and Rams played in a Christmas Day game in Russ' first season in Denver. He was getting killed by the Rams d-line. It's customary for the o-lineman to help up the QB after he gets knocked down. But none of the Broncos o-lineman helped Russ get up in this game when he got hit. While the offense was on the sideline Russ told the Broncos backup QB to tell the o-lineman to help him up when he gets knocked down. The backup QB did as Russ asked and told the lineman that they need to pick up Russ, right after he said that o-linemen started pushing the backup QB which resulted in a fight on the sidelines.

I agree with a pass on that down to maximize all 4 downs, but not a quick pass over the middle. Should have been a quick rollout and throw it out of the endzone if its not there. The quick pass is all timing and it turned out Browner and the Pats had practiced against that specific play. Browner disrupts the rub by Kearse and Lockette can't get to where he needed to be. Deflection and interception.
Against the stacked LOS, running Shawn up there is not great and then the clock is running and you have to make a quick play call if you don't get in.
What I think really should have happened is instead of taking a timeout to talk about it, you just lineup with who you have on the field and pound it with the Beast. That way NE doesn't get their goal line defense in.

People called us classless for booing him, but they don't understand why. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady left their teams on mostly good terms. It was understood that it was a business decision. Even if it wasn't good terms, those players never badmouthed their old team or their old city. Heck, Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas left Seattle on less than good terms and even had some things to say about Pete Carroll, but they still said great things about the city. Russ went to the Broncos and spoke to the Denver media saying that he wanted to go to "a team and a city that wants to win and knows how to win". BRUH! How dare you? The only reason you ever won a Super Bowl is because the Legion of Boom totally shut out your opponent. Show some gratitude. Of course we booed him.

The problem with Russ was that he was never "one of the guys." He was treated as such and couldn't relate to his teammates and didn't try to relate to them. Another problem is that Russ is mobile, on the run, sideline passer. He was king of breaking out of the pocket and hitting the big play. The only problem is that you can only do that for so long and your athleticism will wear down to the point where you aren't making those defensive ends and linebackers miss. Russ also failed to develop his skills throwing from the pocket and timing. This is what drove Sean Payton nuts because Payton's scheme is all about timing your throws and Wilson's greatest strength was going off script and making broken plays successful. It was honestly a match made in hell. Drew Brees and Russell Wilson were similar in size, but played the position completely different. I also heard that Wilson refused to wear an armband with plays as well. Ultimately, Russ's self promotion, corny antics (high kneeing on the plane ride to London), preferential treatment and declining abilities are the reasons why he is disliked.

    • @DeCurtaRican
      @DeCurtaRican 3 месяца назад +6

Russ could throw with timing. You need to watch some of his games from Seattle. He was definitely doing it in 2018-2020, his best seasons.
Brian Schottenheimer, Andrew Luck’s old O.C. in Indianapolis, was Russ’s coordinator from 2018 to 2020, and Russ never looked better, more explosive, or more efficient than he did under Schotty, and that playbook was reportedly very complex.
Sean Payton sold y’all a bunch of lies to cover up for the fact that was trying to tank. He only stopped because the NFL league office and the NFLPA started looking up the Broncos’ skirt for making an illegal threat to Russ at the bye week.
Look up Seahawks vs. Steelers 2019. It’s a 2-minute, 44 second video. Watch it and tell me Russ couldn’t throw from the pocket, throw over the midfield, or throw with timing. He could do all three!
At one point (2012-2017), his passer rating was higher from the pocket than outside of it. It might still be that way. He began using the pocket more as he got older.

    • @DeCurtaRican
      @DeCurtaRican 3 месяца назад +3

There’s no question that Russ has made his share of mistakes, but too many lies or misinterpreted stories are out there. There’s too much negative spin going on, and it’s not all Russ’s fault.
I’ve said this from the beginning: the LoB and any of Russ’s other teammates who spoke negatively about Russ outside of the locker room are unworthy of respect!
If the front office and via Jing staff were favoring Russ, their beef wasn’t with Russ. Their beef was with the front office and coaching staff!
Furthermore, athletes are supposed to follow code: “What happens in the locker room stays in the locker room.”
Those Seahawks who turned on Russ or spoke against him violated that code! For that, they are unworthy of respect. We know way more about Russ than we should.
Do you think every defensive player over Terrry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, Bart Starr, Tom Brady, or Aaron Rodgers?!
I can tell you with confidence that none of them were liked by everyone, and a good number probably weren’t as well-liked as you might assume.
We aren’t supposed to know about these political situations that occurs with the teams. The “LoB” stands for another type of “Legion,” Imo.
Yeah…do something else with that letter-B, because “boom” ain’t the word! ✌🏾

The only reason he didn’t win the first 2022 matchup, singlehandedly I might add, is because former Seahawks teammate (and later Broncos teammate) Frank Clark pancaked him when he was about to score the game-winning TD.
Andy Reid has no answer for Russ, and Mahomes sh!ts yellow runny stuff when Russ is on the other sideline. 😂 That’s that yellow stain you see in his pants matching the Chiefs’ uniform.

There's a reason that Carroll had a run heavy offence. Mr. Unlimited is a great QB on play action bootlegs, and is really good at rolling out and making something happen when the play breaks down. As it turns out, that's his entire skill set. He went to Denver and convinced a terrible first-time head coach that he could be a pocket passer. He also seemed to spend a lot of his energy promoting his brand. Then, last year, a great head coach figured out that Russ couldn't run his offense. On to Pittsburgh. Glad he's out of Denver. Feel bad for Steelers fans.

    Regarding Russ not being “hood”.
That’s not the issue with teammates relating to Russ.
From the countless stories, interviews, podcasts from teammates and former teammates… the overwhelming takeaway I get is he’s disingenuous.
“Hood” dudes have remarkable way of accepting/ interacting with non hood dudes… if that person is genuine and honest about who they are.
One thing that “Hood” dudes despise is that of someone who is “two faced” ~ disingenuous.
I would imagine, also through vicarious experiences that an offensive lineman with midwestern roots, and values “think and carry themselves accountable in that same manner “
At the end of the day, despite various cultural differences, race, social upbringing, grown men respect self accountability.
He could be a cornball, non hood, black man, and be accepted… and not be “fake”.
Russell Wilson for all the options offered has a fake personality. Rubs many the wrong way.
Russell Wilson was a good-great game manager and playmaker early in his career, with a great deep ball.
If not for that legendary defense, that ushered NFL defenses into the modern era on ways to defend the pass.
He put up good numbers just last season.
For the majority of his career he’s been above average…
Unfortunately as he’s aged his play making abilities have fallen off, and while he still can throw it, has glaring flares handicap him.
His reluctance, nearly non existent ability to throw over the middle,
His tendency to lock onto a receiver, can prove to be problematic

It's always two sides of the story... why is Russ blamed for being favored by his coach? Blamed for the play called in the second Super Bowl? Blamed for marrying a celebrity. Favor is not fair and usually has nothing to do with us. I appreciate Russ visiting regularly the Children's hospital in Seattle. It's easy to hate when people don't understand your life...

I'm a Seattle native and appreciated Russ for his contribution to the Seahawks. I admit I never liked him personally but admire what he was able to accomplish despite his shortcomings. I understood his departure from Seattle and wished him best, no worries about Denver much until reach the Superbowl. I wished him well and followed the Broncos the past 2 years, it didn't go well. Funny< I root for him now than I ever had to for the 'Hawks.

Russ was amazing. I bought his jersey. I loved watching him play and speaking after the games. Over time he was much more concerned about this brand and that's when it went downhill. He was just as much a problem in Denver as the coaching. His last couple of years in Seattle were not all that impressive. I'm surprised Denver gave us what they did after watching his decline before the trade.
