That second one is insane. Cop makes him do an hour worth of sobriety tests, blows .000, and he STILL brings him in so he can test the poor driver for drugs (which he passed). All because he "fumbled" with his registration. There needs to be serious consequences for officers who have power trips like that.
These people deal with drugged people all the time. I don't think they have problems differentiating a nervous person with a drug person. He had probably taken something that wouldn't be seen on the tests, since he was regularly tested in school. I feel like he pushed the "just test me dude!" a little too hard, they both know most of the drugs out there won't be seen on tests. That said, they have a quota to fill. Perhaps it was a slow night, maybe they had seen him around some other known people. I don't think the cop wanted to spend his night like that either, talking to teenagers for hours sounds like a dreadful job.
Sad part? The cop seemed unhinged enough to be willing to pull his gun if he felt insulted enough. Lose-lose situation in my book: you either take the shit, or make a ballsy move and risk a lethal response in defense of your own human rights.
@@UberMangaka I got that vibe too. And said officer's behavior in that encounter, is known as "Posturing". He thought, because he had a badge he could do whatever he wanted. So what does he do? Try to intimidate kids to assault him, after he's already assaulted one of them. Good on those kids for not falling into the trap. And the absolutely pathetic "I'm the victim here' attitude when the other officer arrived? He might as well have been made of glass. The officer knew from jump the Chief was lying. Even so, he did his due diligence. Taking statements and such as evidence, etc. Just a reminder that there are both good, and... not so good, cops.
Agree + a smartass? You pulled him over for an hour man and then you want to arrest him after that. He wasn't even driving wrecklessly he had his lights on a couple of feet too close to a car in the opposite lane. WTF. Dumb ass cop.
Fun fact: the guy in the second case sued the department (for obvious reasons), and now the cop is suing him for defamation for showing the body cam footage to the public. Which when you think about it, It’s completely and utterly absurd. It’s not defamatory to show your actions verbatim. If your actions make you look bad, it’s likely because they were bad actions you shouldn’t have done.
in all transparency, no they werent suing just because of the body footage, he was suing bc the kid made some dumbass comments during his case that the officers took advantage of and used against him, not to take away from the kid suing, officers definitely deserved what they had coming, but it's important to not say anything during your own legal case that can be incriminating/used against you lol
@@2genders-tk2ue”defund the police” means strip down the bloated police budget, and increase the number of social workers who can reach peaceful solutions and help people. Most of the time the police are called, it’s because someone is having a crisis, a mental health issue, or domestic argument, that kind of thing. And cops are usually terrible at de escalating tension. Even when they’re good with people, they’re intimidating to people. So it’s best to use the right tools for the situation. If someone with a gun is murdering kids in a classroom, then you send cops - though if you follow the news you’ll know they are useless in that situation, too.

@@2genders-tk2ue I kind of always have to laugh at that. If things are so bad, why would you not only keep doing the same thing, but keep doing more of it?
The term "defund the police" is a poor term for what I think most people want. Police Officers kind of serve a wide net of services that they aren't always prepared for. For example, they deal with a lot of mental health situations. Now people going through mental health crisis can be unstable, and police have an ability to defend with lethal force if they feel threatened. Because there are a lot of guns in the United States, it leads to a lot of situations where police have to use their weapon. One of the suggested alternatives is diverting certain funding away from law enforcement(defund) into a mental health crisis team that would deal with those types of calls instead of police. Then there is corruption. The idea is drop funding for agencies that are/have been accused of corruption or employ known corrupt law enforcement officers. Now I don't particularly agree with it because, like you said, it doesn't solve the problem. The problem is more that a lot of prosecutors/police departments work hand in hand and the people who investigate abuses of power or corruption are highly tied in with the department. It's kind of impossible to avoid because they work together. So the better solution there would be to have some type of independent board that is responsible for these types of investigations. Regardless of if the investigation is partial or impartial, it tends to look really bad when an officer is accused of misconduct and the police department puts out a statement saying something to the effect of "the officers actions were within the perimeters of their legal authority and justified by A,B,C, etc." Needless to say it's a complicated issue that like many things requires multifaceted solutions. @@petervanquish
Crazy thing is that if you lie to your department as a cop you’re fired asap but this shit gets swept under the rug. That’s one reason why I left being a cop.
Yep: the officer was clearly butthurt bc the kid knew his rights and told him he was in the wrong. Also the kid saying “how does it feel?” and “I’m really disappointed” had me WEAK
I have mixed feelings. He should have just gotten a warning or ticket for the high beams, end of story. That's clear. However, it is utterly foolish to play ego games with a cop. In your own self interest, you should pretend to be the most contrite, respectful little dork in town. A cop's ego boost is directly proportional to how big of a slick, macho asshole they think you are when they're deciding how to treat you. Never put them in a position where they have to try to save face, because they will always choose their pride over what's right.

While being a smartass is not against the law, it's not advisable to do. I definitely agree these cops in the videos are rotten, but I'd also advise not to try to give officers a hard time during a traffic stop
that second one disgusts me. that cop desperately tried to ruin that young man’s reputation by ignoring his pleas for a breathalyzer, and instead made him perform unnecessary sobriety tests. then after he blew a 0.00, he arrested him for smoking weed??? which he didn’t even do??? crazy.
It gets worse they tried suing him the cop and chief for defamation once the guy posted the video footage and added his commentary such as the cop lying about his red eyes, the cop mis counting the steps in a sobriety test, stuttering, putting bare hands on the mouth piece of a breathalyzer, him failing to do an example of the sobriety test.
Assuming reason why u said it gotten "worse" is bcuz the lawsuit didn't go well on the kids end? IF that's the case then that's crazy , cuz I def would of sued As well as anyone un that position I hope....
I agree the cop was not good, but i also dont think the suspect is right when he says that the police officer will "look stupid" when the test shows 0. Here we dont even do these silly sobriety tests they have a funnel to put onto the handheld tester and most everyone stopped for any reason gets to blow toward it. It will then show if there is any amount of alcohol in the breath and if there is, the police officer will put a tube on and the test will be repeated. It is never silly to do routine test, anyone that has not been drinking has nothing to fear from this simple test.

I had to spend 7 years in college; do 2 years and 150 hours at 2 hours per week of supervision; practical clinical work; pass not one, not two, but THREE comp exams; to become a therapist. These guys can do 16 or 20 weeks of training and be able to destroy the rest of your life out of narcissism. Seems legit.
I get what you’re saying. Maybe if they paid the same salary as a therapist they could attract better candidates. Then they would be able to weed those types out more quickly because they wouldn’t be just trying to fill positions with the few people willing to take the job. Paying off that kind of student loan debt on an officer’s salary would take forever. Also, not many people want to have their lives in danger on a daily basis for the low pay & long, bad hours. The reality is that when the pay is low, the work is hard, & the treatment by the public is disrespectful at best, the quality of candidates reflects this. Had a cop once come to my door and I got to "have a nice day" them There was regrettably a deceased person found outside my apartment complex, across the street and not on the property. Due to proximity to the road and apartments, the road was shut off and cops were present on the apartment complex controlling their scene as they have the right to. I, knowing my rights, decided to walk by while recording video, and had a brief consensual encounter with an officer asking them if we could work a solution so a resident around the corner (cut off from getting home by the scene) could get to their apartment, because I recognized them. The officers were somewhat frustrated by the request, and understandibly so as it would require the person to go through the scene, but ultimately landed on escorting them to where I was standing on the other side of the fence. After, the officer I spoke to asked me for my name and I politely declined to identify fully, but said they could address me as "Logan", for purposes of cordiality. I was then asked for my last name and DOB, I politely declined. New Mexico is stop and ID but requires reasonable suspicion and NM cops do not have qualified immunity, so I knew that going in. Because of this request, I responded by asking them for their name and badge number, and they provided it and the contact was ended peacefully. The officer I interacted with was polite and professional, but later another officer came to my door asking not if I knew anything about the scene (which would be a reasonable follow up), but why I was recording it (which is not a reasonable follow up). I stated through my lovely locked security door that I did not have anything to do with the scene aside from my consensual encounter with the officers earlier, and that I do not have to answer that question per my 5th amendment rights, and that my right to do so is protected by the first amendment and subsequent supreme court rulings. I did not interfere with the scene, only passed by it. Therefore they do not have probable cause for the stop, or to enter, or to speak to me beyond my consent. At one point he asked if he could "Come in so we could have a quick chat" and I immediately said "No. We are chatting just fine right here" We went back and forth for a moment as the officer navigated an emotional swell I'm sure was associated to realizing he couldn't functionally intimidate me, and after I requested his name and badge number and obnoxiously repeated the questions "Do you have a warrant? "What is your probable cause or reasonable, articulable suspicion? What crime am I suspected of committing? What is the reason for this investigative detention?" a few times, and he got the picture after a minute. At last, he asked me "where did you get your law degree?" to which I replied "same place you got yours sir " (indirectly implying he's about as qualified as I am) and he deflated and seemed to be done trying. After I saw that realization, I simply said "have a nice day officer, be safe out there." and closed the door. I then watched on my Ring doorbell as the cop mulled around for a minute outside stewing, making radio calls, and talked to his fellow officer and then decided it wasn't worth it and left. Before leaving though, he looked right at the ring doorbell and THEN apparently decided they weren't going to press the issue further. I guess he thought it might be best if his Sargent didn't see that clip, and we both know they can pull them. The more composed you can stay the better your odds are. Recording devices preserve an objective record of the truth and you should use them in every encounter with police. I wasn't rude, either, I was mildly impatient with the non-consensual contact though. I wouldn't recommend adopting an impatient attitude - I just have a low tolerance for games - I wouldn't recommend vocalizing any dissent other than that which is backed by expressly and explicitly established rights, but stay collected regardless. Cops often care more about how you treat them, than they do if the law is being broken, and will fabricate things based on their ego being challenged. Don't fall for it. Say what matters and exercise your right to shut up per the fifth at all other times
Cops should have weekly meetings, 30 minutes or so a week where they have to watch these videos and identify what the cops did wrong. Also tell them the punishment the cop/ Cops received, giving priority to showcasing situations where the perpetrators' punishment was jail and being fired. I haven't had many interactions with the police over my 73 years but I have had a few stops. Usually the officer will ask the usual questions - where are you coming from, where are you headed? Knowing that the only legal requirement is to provide your license, registration, and insurance, I refused to answer questions. When I do this, I remain calm, become exceedingly polite and respectful but firm and resolute in my position. These episodes should actually be a show on TV. We all need to be enlightened about the abuses happening out there. How about a class in the schools about knowing your rights? These young folks were smart and impressive. The officers certainly perfected their acting and sadly had no issue being dishonest in their dealings. The whole thing kind of makes the officers look like criminals. They are determined to be right even when they are clearly wrong.
I experienced something similar a month ago, in a small, quiet city in Germany, in Lübeck. The police accused me of trespassing on someone's private property and claimed that it was forbidden to look at the windows in the houses on the street. I am a foreigner in Germany.
I love when a suspect "fumbles" around with heir paperwork, their automatically a criminal. Some cops have such a god complex, "I know everything and I am right." When simply someone can just be nervous. When you rarely get pulled over, it is an unfamiliar experience.

In every case imaginable you can bet that on the street the officer has the ball. But when you get to the courtroom you are in charge and they know that. The confidence comes from getting educated. Know your rights. Work hard to find out what your rights are because they don't put it out there in plain sight for everybody to see, that would be fair play and the powers that be don't like that.
Don’t worry most people start shaking once cops show up Remember if you have not committed a crime they literally cant do anything, most of them are dumb so it even becomes interesting to talk to them Having said that, i have met respectful officers and they act differently, it has everything to do with their intellectual abilities, sadly most are just dumb
You realize a lot of these people get either severely tortured or shot to death in their homes the next day, right? Not to mention "random incidents" like being killed by a drunk driver for example, or killed in a "random" corner store robbery? These videos will never tell you the whole story.
As a police survivor, I fully support those people in the video. My brother (killed in the line of duty on 10.28.2014) told me: "Not a single cop can stop you on the street without legal reason - you can say "Have a good day!" and leave". I was on a ride-along with him and saw how the police must conduct their work. And justice for all!
The problem in the USA is that the Police, especially in the Western and Southern States, tend to shoot first and ask questions later, and most of the times get away clean because the judges are family, friends, clan members, from the same cult, etc.

In your own self interest, you should pretend to be the most contrite, respectful little dork in town.

Had a cop once come to my door and I got to "have a nice day" them
There was regrettably a deceased person found outside my apartment complex, across the street and not on the property.
We are chatting just fine right here"
We went back and forth for a moment as the officer navigated an emotional swell I'm sure was associated to realizing he couldn't functionally intimidate me, and after I requested his name and badge number and obnoxiously repeated the questions "Do you have a warrant?
Might help to prevent the "above the law" mentality that so many Cops have!
Not to mention that so many of the cops in this video seemed ignorant of the law and rights protecting citizens!

I really believe we need a federal law requiring officers to have body-cams footage of all arrests made in uniform because there are still police and sheriff departments that don't use body-cams at all. I worked on a defendant's case from Polk Co., Florida, and I thought there was some mistake when there was no body-cams footage in Discovery. The Polk Co. Sheriff makes enormous busts practically every month and holds a press conference within a couple of days of the bust. These arrests make national headlines, but knowing what I now know, I definitely wouldn't put it past this sheriff to fabricate evidence in order to get a conviction. I have never said nor thought that about any sheriff or chief. I bet you have even seen a few of his pressers on YT. Don’t worry most people start shaking once cops show up
Remember if you have not committed a crime they literally cant do anything, most of them are dumb so it even becomes interesting to talk to them
Having said that, i have met respectful officers and they act differently, it has everything to do with their intellectual abilities, sadly most are just dumb
You realize a lot of these people get either severely tortured or shot to death in their homes the next day, right? Not to mention "random incidents" like being killed by a drunk driver for example, or killed in a "random" corner store robbery? These videos will never tell you the whole story.
Cop "what's your name"
Boy "I do not need to give you that"
Dad "Jack, don't give it to them" 😂
Citizens: "Is that a lawful request?"
Every cop ever: "Of course it's a lawful request, I'M THE LAW and I'M REQUESTING!"
Lol
As a police survivor, I fully support those people in the video. My brother (killed in the line of duty on 10.28.2014) told me: "Not a single cop can stop you on the street without legal reason - you can say "Have a good day!" and leave". I was on a ride-along with him and saw how the police must conduct their work.
And justice for all!
Those days are gone.
Also, may he rip good heros always die young. Sorry for your loss 🥺
But didn’t the officer in the first video have probable cause?
Sorry for your loss
The problem in the USA is that the Police, especially in the Western and Southern States, tend to shoot first and ask questions later, and most of the times get away clean because the judges are family, friends, clan members, from the same cult, etc.
I love this kid, Jack. He outclassed "trained law enforcement". It sure seems like we have the bottom of the barrel in law enforcement.
They don’t look like they were trained the right way though. Whatever training they did is flawed.
Yeah, but it creeps me out the dad tried politics, and like a wiki article states, you can't find anything on the guy (other then what seems to be his ex wife filing domestic violence against him around 2016). So, is he acting for a cause, acting for politics, a guy with bought authority even over his ex? Who knows. Really don't care but there's way too much injustice everywhere.
”Trained law enforcment” That’s nothing but bullies with a badge. They need to get a deeper evaluation on the people wanting to become police officers. Focus on their childhood. Were they bullied? It’s a huge risk they get on a powertrip retaliating on others.
He didn't, you need a license to drive gas bicycle and he thought you didn't
Under 50cc? In which state do you need a license? I’ve lived in HI, TX, and AZ and 50 cc or below is legal for anyone, pretty much.
Police are PUBLIC SERVANTS. They work for the public. Not the other way around. Remind them of this.
The second interaction just confirms for me the "urban myth" that police officers have a quota they have to fill of traffic and/or other charges.
100%
I certify this comment as true. I'm glad I'm out.
@karacolclough3106 What's the "Straw man account?"
who gave you an idea its a "myth"? its 100% true, but not all areas have it. we have that bullshit in european countries, too.
This wasn’t about quotas this was about ego. When the boy acted like a smart ass while recording, he was going to show him who was boss at all costs.
Never ever open the door for police when they don’t have a warrant. Absolutely never. I have friends who are officers and while I trust them completely, I do not trust any police I do not personally know very well. As an organization, they’ve done plenty to lose credibility.
How you gonna check if they have warrant or not without opening the door? Those fuckers can say whatether they want to.
@clipn6114 Don't speak for other people, you don't know them. Cops aren't all bad, it's just that the internet dramatizes and focuses on the bad things.
@@septuleptum through the window or Ring Camera. Usually if they do have a warrant and you don't open the door they'll kick it down.
@@TheCoolerEssence There shouldn't be any of these bad things, they are completely unnecessary. That's the whole point.
@@ansel_ Correct, however that wasn't the point that the person I was responding to was making. The person I was responding to told the OP that their cop friends shouldn't be trusted.
I'm just telling them not to speak for people they don't know.
