  • Kiddy Coaster at Playland in Rye, NY.
Opening in the 1928 season, Kiddy Coaster is a junior wooden coaster by the National Amusement Device Company (NAD). It was designed by Frank Darling and built by Raudyard Stephen Uzzell for approximately $2,500. The course encircles the park’s kiddieland and gives young riders an early thrill. No adults can experience this coaster. NAPHA recognizes Playland for continuing to operate Kiddy Coaster, the park’s oldest running roller coaster and only one of two NAD junior coasters left in existence.

What a rare classic! I’m glad that Rye has kept it in good shape.
