  • Merry-Go-Round at Lagoon in Farmington, UT.
Built in 1913 by Hershcell-Spillman, this classic carousel features a wide menagerie of animals, including: 25 jumping horses, 2 standing horse, 2 Frogs, 2 giraffes, 2 mules, 2 roosters, 2 zebras, a bear, cat, deer, dog, dragon, goat, lion, llama, pig, stork, swan, and a tiger. On top of also including 2 chariots, Merry-Go-Round also houses miniature rocking benches and a spinning tub. Originally opened at an unknown park in Santa Monica, CA, Lagoon purchased the ride in 1918 for $14,000 and relocated it. Lagoon suffered a major fire in 1953 but the Merry-Go-Round was saved by running constant water on the ride. Merry-Go-Round was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012. NAPHA recognizes Lagoon for continuing preservation of Merry-Go-Round, the park’s oldest operating ride and one of a few remaining Herschell-Spillman carousels.
