This year I read about 60 books so as for fantasy/sci-fi/horror I definitely loved Blood and Fire by G.R.R Martin (truly epic),7 prequels of “Dune” by Brian Herbert/Kevin Anderson(too immersive),Pet’s Sematary,Salem’s Lot and Just After Sunset by Stephen King(scaryyyyyy),the Sole Surviver by Dean Kuntz (massively gripping),Joe Hill - Nosferatu (just wooow), the ocean at the end of the lane by Neil Gaiman (one of the best fantasy fairytale I’ve ever read), the steel Remains by Richard Morgan (grim dark but too frank and open)! I started the first law trilogy by Abercrombie, the way of kings by Sanderson too and …drums “the empire of the vampire”❤

First Law is too low 🤪 JK Glad you're liking the series. I see a lot of people now (over)hyping up how dark it is (like a Bakker, GRRM or McCarthy), while yes its dark but its darker in its implications than it ever gets on page. Deadhouse Gates was when I feel in love with the series. Can't wait to restart my re-read. As someone who just finished Realm of the Elderlings on Christmas Eve, I can safely say its become my favourite completed Fantasy series... and possibly my favourite Fantasy series overall (hence I started a re-read of ASOIAF to see if that's still true). I'd say overall, my favourite of the series was Fool's Errand the first book of Tawny Man. Read it and you'll know why. If I'd to rank the various subseries: 5. Rain Wild Chronicles - Some rough parts but overall, very good. 4. Farseer - Can't wait to re-read Assassin's Quest now that I've more context. 3. Liveship Traders 2. Fitz & the Fool - I think I like Liveship Traders as a story more than F&F but I'm more attached to the 6 Duchies cast. 1. Tawny Man - Peak My other favourites: A Brightness Long Ago / Guy Gavriel Kay Wars of Light & Shadow 3: Warhost of Vastmark Memory, Sorrow & Thorn 3: To Green Angel Tower Mystic River / Dennis Lehane Lonesome Dove /Larry McMurtry The Winter of Frankie Machine / Don Winslow The Merchant & The Alchemist's Gate / Ted Chiang

Read all the Green Bone Saga this year myself and would say I didn’t enjoy it as much as other, but also agree that it’s still an enjoyable read with Legacy being my favorite. War I felt like was the worst in the trilogy just didn’t feel like the stakes felt raised at all in the that book. For me the tho the Dandelion Dynasty has been my let down for this year haven’t finished the 4th book but I’ve seriously struggled through that series but want to see it through to the end. It actually is beautifully written but also feel like is has too much needless information and random plots at times.
