I loved Five Warrior Angels, I think it deserves much more attention. I listened to the first two, then had to wait months for the last one to come out on audio. Stormlight of course (only read books 1 and 2). I am 9 books into the realm of the Elderlings. These are all top reads. Best Served Cold was my first Joe Abercrombie book and still one of my favourites. This month I have read The Bonehunters (Malazan), Diamonds are Forever (Bond), Storm Front (Dresden Files #1), The Sword of Kaigen and Nights Black Agents (a collection of Fritz Leibers short stories) - no bad ones and the Sword of Kaigen was really impressive.

Dragons of autumn twilight was my best read of August. Dragonlance was my intro to fantasy back in the early 2000s, and 20 years later I was worried I only loved it with nostalgia goggles on. Re-reading it I found that wasn't the case. Its simple adventure fantasy. Maybe too generic for some people, but its good to have a read that isn't drowning in court politics or trying to be grim. Where other series are like a 20oz steak with 2 baked potatoes, Dragonlance is like a #1 combo from your favorite fast food place. Simple & satisfying.

Hawkeye Volume 1: My Life As a Weapon

    - He's lame in the films but I adore Hawkeye in the comics.

Wars of Light & Shadow 2: Ships of Merior
    - I'm in it for the long haul now! With the exception of Dakar, I really enjoy these characters and this world. I'm a mood reader anyway, especially with this series.
I NFNed Jonathan Maberry's Patient Zero (again) and Larry McMurtry's Streets of Laredo.

About 2/3 of the way through the book hits a good spot, when the band reunites, and after that it starts to go downhill for me because of so many plot conveniences and lack of consequences.
During this year I only read three "classic" fantasy books and one of those was a rereading. I've largely lost interest in the genre. I just hope to maybe finish the first trilogy of the Black Company this year and reread The Lord of the Rings.
