I also discovered Abercrombie and Hobb this year. I have only 2 books to go to finish The Realm of the Elderlings. I read the Servant of the Empire a couple of months ago and absolutely loved it. I'm planning on finishing that trilogy soon. 💜
Brian Lee Durfee is criminally underrated. He only has the warrior angel trilogy, but its SUCH a great series!! Personally; I think more people need to be talking about David Estes. His fatemarked series, and Kingfall series are phenomenal.
I am miffed that I put down Going Postal by Terry Pratchett the last time I went book shopping now... Super pumped to get to Joe Abercrombie, more Hobb and Christopher Ruocchio next year 🙌
Just picked up curse of the mistwraith, and I'm so excited now. I'm a few books into Malazan and suneater and love them, so your description has me ecstatic for janny. Hobb is a master, and Fonda Lee and Ken Liu were my other favorites from this year.
I discovered many new fantasy books even Abercrombie and Hobb, many indie and SPFs because I want to try different types of books , work and next year I will continue the series which I started this year and also I know I will discover new authors. 😊 Great video 👍
I hope you love Empire. The audio books are great too, trying those for re read 4. Have to say I can be a bit of a snob at times, if fantasy book tubers have not read Hobb, Wurts, GRRM and Rothfuss I do find it hard to take their top 10s seriously 😊 I can’t read physical books, haven’t been able to all year, it’s driving me nuts, but have discovered some great audio books. You had to leave Memories of Ice in the middle? It's a really great book, one of the most epic fantasy stories. Hope you get to start it soon and don't forget a lot of it.
I haven't read beyond Empire of Silence but sounds like Ruocchio drew a lot from Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun... another one of my favourite SF series.
@@SpacedOutReads its understandable but puts an unfair expectation and add more gatekeeping to those series. Personally I got more out of Malazan because that was the more emotional journey of the too as BotNS was more intellectual and wild.
You really need to read “sons of the black sword” by Larry Correia. It’s an amazing series so far. 4 of 5 released. Unique magic system, corrupt political system. Hero with humble beginnings. I’ve devoured all four of them and can’t wait for the fifth. I accidentally purchased two copies of the first book though so if you want one let me know and I can send it to you.

can you recommend some epic fantasy series with good romance subplots? even if its like 10-20% of the story, doesnt have to be a central theme, just there and good
@@overchipz I’m not the most well read at Romance, but the relationship in Sun Eater is pretty cool. The ones in The Faithful and the Fallen are nice, but very in the side. Ummm actually, The Gael Song Saga has some great romance, that was a great trilogy right until the end of book 3
Wars of Light and Shadow has an epic love story sub plot. It doesn’t take centre-stage, but it is a key component that threads through the story - some times more than others. The Empire trilogy also has a good romance sub plot. Let me know if you want some other recommendations.
