In Karate Kid: Legends, after a family tragedy, kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to move to New York City with his mother. Li struggles to let go of his past as he tries to fit in with his new classmates, and although he doesn't want to fight, trouble seems to find him everywhere. When a new friend needs his help, Li enters a karate competition - but his skills alone aren't enough. My mother was a bit fan of the Karate Kid movies and we used to watch them a lot. She even really enjoyed the 2010 movie and the Cobra Kai series and when I told her a new movie was apparently in the works she was estatic. She sadly passed away back in August so this is going to be really bittersweet to me. It looks good though, I'm excited for it.

I experienced the first Karate Kid movie in theaters when I was 9 years old. I had never seen a theater full of people cheering and gasping during the fight scenes. That was not a thing in 1984, you sat down and were quiet. I'll never forget that moment. I'm glad to be alive and hopefully see this at 50 years old.
Fight scenes in the 80s were so slow and filled with cuts(aside from Chinese martial arts films at the time). Is this the equivalent of the black and white train movie over 100 years ago where people were terrified of how "real" it is? Lol glad fighting choreography progressed in the last 40 years

I saw "The Karate Kid" when I was young and I did like it. Everything else...eh. But now, I am so excited. I can't wait!!!

Karate Kid with Mr. Miyagi was amazing, beautiful, awesome, fun and so much more, he taught multiple generations to "wax on, wax off", "wipe the floor" and "paint the fence".
Daniel San is a great character and Ralph Macchio is still Daniel San.

Based on this trailer alone, I genuinely believe Li Fong is going to be the best fighter out of all the kids so far. His hybrid style of Miyagi-Do and Kung Fu will truly make him a force to be reckoned with. I am so stoked for this movie. May 30th cannot get here fast enough.

For the actual movie, I am glad they fixed the continuity error with the color of Mr. Miyagi's house. It was painted blue/teal in Cobra Kai. Early trailers of this film, it was back to tan. The movie corrected this, and in the film, it was blue/teal. Sources indicate this film is 3 years after the events in Cobra Kai.
Not to give anything away, but the ending was the best part of the whole film.

Shimpo Miyagi learned fighting from his time in China after accidentally landing there on his boat. He went back home to Oki Nawa and carried his fighting with him, dubbed later as Miyagi Do. Han and Larusso are reconnecting the branches of the tree here! I had hoped they would make this movie someday.

I've been telling myself the reason William Zabka didn’t do much press for the final episodes of Cobra Kai was because he was busy filming his cameo for this movie. I’m just throwing hope out there. 😂
It would be nice, but I think they've said a few times that this movie won't really have much to do with Cobra kai. Apparently there will be loose connections at best.
A passing reference is probably all you will get. Daniel will be in a tight spot and mention how enemies can become friends or something along those lines.

I would love that to be true but to me this movie, judging by the trailer, doesn't feel like it's set in the same universe of the Cobra Kai TV show. The tone here feels like they are pretending the TV show never happened and this is a sequel to only the OG trilogy and the Jackie Chan movie. I've read somewhere the producers confirmed the TV show is indeed canon in this movie but we shall see if they will include any nod or cameos from Cobra Kai. I would totally love it btw.

I’m 31 years old. Grew up during/in the middle of the meteoric rise of Jackie Chan’s kung fu and action films in the west during the 90’s and early 00’s. Watched this man make almost as much of an impression on the world culturally as Bruce Lee but in his own way. Cultural icon. Watched him hang from helicopters, run through glass, jump off buildings and cliffs onto hot air balloons, everything. It’s so surreal to see Jackie with gray hair now and visibly seeing him really age. In his late life he’s been somewhat of a polarizing figure for what he supports politcally and his personal life but I will always LOVE this man as he’s been in my life and inspired and amazed me since I was a little boy.
Enjoy Jackie Chan and allow him to have all the flowers that he deserves right now. He gave his life in ways that people nowadays wouldn’t even be able to conceive of to entertain us with his absolutely legendary REAL career. All these years later he’s still here for us. From his beginnings in the Bruceploitation years starting in New Fist of Fury to breaking out in Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow/Fearless Hyena/Drunken Master, to carving out his own role in the industry as THE kung fu action Star with Police Story and stuff like Operation Condor, to becoming so big that Hollywood had to let him in with Rumble in the Bronx and Rush Hour, to the Karate Kid remake to Legends. Not bad for a kid that was nearly sold to the doctor that delivered him because his family was so poor, not bad for one of the Peking Opera School’s little fortunes. Jackie is pushing 70 years old and he still hasn’t left our side.

I loved the Cobra Kai series too - Karate Kid is just one of those iconic movies that takes me back to my childhood. Who knows if this will be any good, but I'll definitely check it out!
Im a 51 year old mother of 3, grandmother of 1, and yet I squeeled like the teeny bopper I was when the first Karate Kid movie came out!! Then, to combine an all time favorite with a family favorite actor like Jackie Chan is a dream come true! I can't wait!!
Jackie Chan did a movie remake of Karate kid. So they are kind of bringing both versions together. I wish they would bring all the Karate kid movies and actors together. That would be nice, but it would probably be hard to keep up with all the character developments with all those different people.

Finished cobra Kai season 6 I hope Daniel gets his true ending
Oh this brings back the nostalgia and memories of Mr. Miyagi. Pat Morita is dearly missed. Can’t believe I grew up seeing Ralph Macchio Daniel San as a 23 year old “teenager” now he’s 63. Where has time gone?!? Wish my late father was here to see this one. He’d enjoy it. He always loved the Karate Kid movies and Netflix series.

@ no it didn’t, cobra Kai is chessy and cringe, when non of the films where ever that. And you expect me to believe a kid who’s been doing karate for 2 years max, has asthma, broke his back and his fat gf are some of the best in the world?? They managed to ruin a world tournament.
I remember my dad showing my brother and I the original karate kid, we did a marathon of all 3 movies. I didn’t remember much as I was too young but the fight scenes and overall feel good theme resonated with me. Then we watched 2010’s karate kid which I liked though it got a lot of hate. Few years later and my dad is screaming in the living calling me and my brother down to watch the first season of cobra Kai. We binged watched it till it got late at night. Binge watching shows with my dad and brother will always be cherished. Unfortunately when my dad moved out the binge watching doesn’t happen as often. And I had to watch the final season alone. Would have loved to experienced it with my dad and brother but as we get older I guess you do more things alone. I digress. I’m just glad my dad is still around and my brother and him can watch this movie in the theaters. Time with loved ones must not be taken for granted so I look forward to this movie. Hope it does well so we can see where the story could go.

The editor of this trailer truly deserves a raise-the gradual build-up of the drums was phenomenal. And also I really hope Dre makes an appearance in the film.

Just finished Cobra Kai season 6!
In 84 I was 8 living in jersey. In the theater when the crane kick happened it was the loudest cheer in a theater I have ever heard to date. And I did see endgame. But it didn’t compare. Went with my dad. He’s passed always but wow so many great memories.
The crane kick in Cobra Kai season 5 was also insane

The idea of reuniting Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan to bring back Karate Kid is sensational. This film will certainly spark the interest of fans who went crazy over the success in the 80s.

COMBINING BOTH KARATE AND KUNGFU IS A LEGENDARY IDEA! As someone who practices Karate and learned a lot of info about kung fu combining the two really is such a cool concept. (not at all claiming to be an expert in either Karate and Kungfu) But combining a lot of Kungfu's quick striking motions with Karate's athletic fighting movements is such a good combination.
