Omg only 4 days since your last video and we’re getting another?? I’m in heaven. I desperately needed this today! I hope you’re doing ok and that you’re currently literate and reading something that sparks joy for you 💚
instead of just hating/eye-rolling on books that are so ridiculous and objectively stupid, i’ve started reading them with the mindset of ‘this is the kind of godsend material lexi would be pulling so many quips and commentaries out of in her video summaries’ and suddenly my reading experience becomes exponentially more bearable and entertaining. the book i recently read where i implemented this was “stay with me” by nicole fiorina, which i picked up from booktok thinking it was gonna be wholesome. from the premise i knew it was kinda outlandish but still i took my chances - like c’mon it’s essence was abt an emotionally void girl learning to form genuine human connection, or so i thought… the more i delved into the book (and the rest of the trilogy), i realised there is only sm disbelief one could suspend. the plot progressively became SO unserious. while i could’ve simply been petulant by how far off my reading expectations were met, i shifted to my lexi-inspired mindset and so i was able to maintain being a hater but this time the joke’s not on me bc i enjoyed myself in finding entertainment amongst the absurdity of it all (that being said, the book also got pretty problematic - it’s one of those books that kinda takes itself seriously, making it all the more icky tbh but ig this further provides the grounds for important discussions/addressals too lol). personally, i’ve only read the first book but after skimming the second and third, it’s safe to say the plot got even more unhinged. i’m sure there are tons of book recs for videos you already receive but if i could offer an extra option, it would be this. regardless, lexi your book summaries are all bangers (whether these wrap-up kinds or the movie length kinds lol). every time you open/close your videos wishing us to take care of ourselves, i genuinely feel appreciated. so in the same vein, i (as am sure the rest of the newlynova community) send lots of love your way, wishing the best for your mental health and wellbeing during this treacherous time 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
this is the way. sometimes people are like "why do you read things you hate" this is why. it is fun to roll with the punches and enjoy the process of reading things that are awful and very silly hahaha. 🫶 much love bestie
THE SPEAR CUTS THROUGH WATER!! ugh one of my favorite books. i feel like i would struggle to describe it the way you did, do you script your videos pretty tightly? you are so articulate my dude also “but simon said no” i’m dead you’re hilarious
A twisted lies video yesssss definitelyyy Also, kind of really wanted to hear your opinion and thoughts on Nov 9 so it'd be great if you could do a video about it!
your self-awareness to name your emotional disregulation and share the seasons, even when you're not feeling 100%, with us is really refreshing. I'm sorry you've been going through a hard time and hope things continue to look up. I followed you on tiktok and found your RUclips when I deleted the app and your longer videos are just as wonderful as the short snippets! your videos make grading my student's work fly by, thanks for sharing with us!
Everytime Lexi does a wrap up i have the same thought pattern of "Lexi LOVES doing mental gymnastics" and I love and respect that fact about you Lex. ❤ also, really appreciate the little life updates you drop in your videos, its always pleasant to know that you're doing well, i will keep an eye out for your background change through the next videos you drop and good luck!!!❤
Thank you for being so transparent about your mental health I just got back into reading again last December and after this month of also being in the trenches and not picking up a book all of April your last vid made me feel brave enough to just finish the two hundred pages i had left in my last read and I already feel those cogs slowing turning again❤ It always helps more then you can know to see others going through it too and that the book will not judge you lol
lexi your vibes are so immaculate all the time i always leave your videos just wanting to be friends bc i have genuinely never in my life seen another book creator so similar to myself and i love it
I’m going through a really big period of change in my life right now and your videos are always such a comfort! Wherever I am it’s always so easy to relax and watch these and it always inspires me to pick up another book on my tbr :)
Beautiful disaster movie is worth checking out if not simply just for how vastly different it is from the book. the book makes the movie look like the notebook
that short story collection sounds a lot like 50 beasts to break your heart by gennarose nethercott. similarly weird, fantasy adjacent, beautiful writing, explorations of relationships and love. i really loved it, highly recommend!
Just finished up Notes on an Execution and it was great, very poignant in terms of navigating womanhood and it was interesting how Ansel’s POV toward the end just became more unhinged the angrier he got. Congrats on moving!! Good luck! Thanks for the rec
Wow I’m almost embarrassed to admit this but I connected on a spiritual level to your mental state in the last video and when I saw your care of sponsorship I IMMEDIATELY signed up like I’ve never in my LIFE signed up for a booktube sponsorship until this moment right now but I’m actually feeling hopeful so like thanks Lexi love your videos btw I’ve seen literally all of them
The only two Lisa Jewell books I’ve read are The family upstairs and The night she disappeared. I LOVED the night she disappeared much more than The family upstairs, highly recommend 💖
YESS a reading wrap up, thank you Lexi! These genuinely make my day 💜 I’ve never really watched long book recaps, but after starting that beautiful disaster video there was no way I was leaving lol the way you explain books is honestly amazing
oh it's so exciting to hear you talk about the spear cuts through water !! i read it last year, and it was hauntingly beautiful. i couldn't stop thinking about it for weeks
you probably won't see this, but mental health is such a beast and it's such an enormous accomplishment that you're just here! Be proud of the small things
I love watching your videos, you crack me up and just have a great way of reviewing books. I know this was posted 3 weeks ago, but I hope you're doing/feeling better!
I found your comment about Justin’s to be absolutely true, in my own experience guys with J names in general have been trouble. Also, I hope you’re well and having some good reads while you’re away.
Completely agree on The Spear Cuts Through Water. I read that a couple of months ago. The narrative style is so unique. At first I was confused, then I started to understand how it worked... and then I was absolutely entranced by it. Absolutely brilliant. This book is definitely going to be in my top 5 for this year.
in the 8 days after i finished watching your video i ended up reading the entirety of just for the summer and when i tell you i GASPED when i realized what emma’s connection was to the characters to the rest of the series
Just popping in as someone also in their mid twenties going through it feeling all kinds of lost and scared and desolately hopeless (not that i'd presume to know what you're going through thats none of my business), it's really nice seeing you post and seeing you read and I genuinely hope things get a little easier soon. Keep it up.
My mental health has plummeted so badly since last month but seeing your videos brings me so much happiness i literally love to just put your videos on while i paint and rot away 8hours everyday 🫠and hearing how you are feeling makes me feel less alone and a bit more motivated to getting out of this dark hole, I hope you will have brighter days lexi you truly deserve it❤
I usually skip past the sponsors section of videos for others, but you always have the best stuff. The care/of vitamin site was really nice and something I've been looking for. Appreciate you tailoring your sponsors to fit the chill reading/book vibes ❤❤
Thank you for the reminder to take care of yourself. It’s nice to hear it every now and then because I, don’t want to speak for others, but I feel like it’s something we don’t hear enough. Hope things look up for you soon! :)
Always watch Lexi vids while doing dishes, so when I started this one I HAD to do dishes. I’ve pavloved myself 😂 thank you for getting the 2 weeks worth of dishes out of my sink
Hey lexi! I heard your review about powerless and I agree a lot of the dialogue and banter between the MCs felt repetitive and almost overwritten, it wasnt bad but I expected more for sure. That being said, considering powerless was the authors debut book, i decided to give the second book in the series - reckless that released earlier this july a shot and it was such an absolute banger i was shocked. The slow burnnn, the plot twists, the dialogue was literally perfect. The authors writing style definitely improved and that was abundantly clear in the dialogue and narration. I loved it so much and hope you give it a chance too.
i have not heard the words 'welcome to night vale' spoken to me since i was 13. this video has given me a new book to read (notes on an execution) and a new desire to go and listen to welcome to night vale again
Never expected a welcome to nightvale reference but I’M HERE FOR IT! Also thanks for the notion presentation; I find it really usefull. Had a lot of random notes on my phone that are finally organized.
The Spear Cuts Through Water was amazing to read as a Filipino immigrant too! Simon Jimenez is a Filipino American author and his exploration of topics that affect me really hit. I love the fantasy world based in a precolonial Southeast Asian country, the depiction of these ties many immigrants have to our ancestry, the largely oral history of our people. I slumped a bit in the parts you mentioned, but overall it was such a unique read
I can't figure it out but ever since I found your channel you seem like one of those characters in a comfort movie that would be your favourite. It's so strange but thoroughly enjoyable regardless.
hi! love to see all your reads, and also how open you are about your struggles…it’s refreshing. i would love to see a video showing how you use notion! i would like to start, but it feels a little overwhelming.
every single video of yours is like a dopamine rush ‼️‼️ I’m so sorry that you’re struggling right now, i hope the world lights up for you the same way that you light it up for us!! thank you for posting this, keep going, you’re doing great!!
Had this video on in the background while I folded my laundry because listening to you talk is enough to keep my brain entertained without getting the urge to pick my phone up every five minutes as always it was super fun to just listen to you thanks so much for doing what you do
Lexi! Thank you for uploading so soon again! I recently read a ridiculous book and instead of DNF’ing I decided to fully dive into the unhinged and I had a great time. Thank you for teaching us your ways 🥰 I hope you are taking care of yourself and good luck with the move x💜
Ahaha!! I read Just for the Summer because of you and even with your disclaimer, I also got jump scared by how it was related to the Part of Your World universe. Didn’t see it coming at all. What a twist!
I saw you read Powerless and Just for the Summer and ran to read them both and watched video in bits after reading these books and i really loved just for the summer it sent me on a rollercoaster of emotions and i agree with you on everything you said about Powerless bcz honestly i kept thinking why is nobody dying in this book already and when someone did die it fucking took me out . In the end i enjoyed sort of reading these books with you Lexi . Sorry for the long comment , i really enjoy your videos ☺☺☺
Not sure if someone has already commented this, but if you havent read it already the locked tomb series (especially the 3rd book Nona the ninth) sounds a lot like the spear cuts through water with the way its written! So would def reccomend:)
I'm a big fan! I'm adding Stay True, The Spear Cuts Through Water and Just for the Summer to my TBR. Thanks again for the reviews! I'm glad you pulled through your rough month!
Self care app I think you’d love- Finch! It helped me so much when I got out of the mental hospital and needed help feeding myself and doing necessary chores and stuff
one of the biggest struggles for me since i began really getting into reading was the underlying pressure i put on myself to finish a book fast. i made myself think that once i start a book i have to finish it in like less than a week or else i didnt really count as an actual reader. ive been in an off and on book slump for the past month and getting through a 6 book series is very difficult, especially for the fact that i only want to read one book at a time and i wouldnt let myself start another book without finishing the series. i try my best to not let this mentality affect how i enjoy a book because the book series im reading is still truly amazing, i just keep having no effort to finish reading, leading to going days without touching my book.
yeah this is real, i also struggle with reading things quickly enough (and with not finishing books i don't like). but reading will be there for you when you have time. it is not a race!! and sometimes it can be better to absorb things over a longer period of time - it gives them room to breathe
Thank you for convincing me to pick up The Spear Cuts Through Water. Can’t wait to check it out. Looking forward to your next deep dive deranged recap!
Thank you for always adding to my tbr 😂 seriously though, i would never have heard of some books if I didn’t watch your videos. You have such a wide range of genres.
But Lexi, you ARE effortlessly fascinating! XD Thanks for another video- stay strong, the weird life existential anxiety gets easier as you get older, I promise!
I hope you're doing well Lexi! I appreciate you uploading even though you've been struggling. Your videos give me a sliver of joy amongst the Horrors™ I hope things start to look up for you soon! You're truly a joy and I hate to see you struggling ☹take care of yourself, friend!!❤❤
So imma just pretend i didn't search "read 5 books in 5 days" into RUclips's search engine because i forgot lexi's channel's name and i was hoping she would pop up😂😂😂
I just got back into reading after a 17 year hiatus and the book I just finished was Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, after hearing how much you loved it. I loved it as well 😊 My next book will be Betty. Hope I love that book just as much
Thank you for the recs. I'm very interested in "A Spear Cuts Through Water." It's giving me Avatar: The Last Airbender vibes just from hearing about it and I am here for it. Good luck with your move! We're cheering you on! :)
Kinda exciting that you read She Gets The Girl cause I was planning to audiobook speed run that on my drive home from college. Love having it vetted by a trusted source.
Omg only 4 days since your last video and we’re getting another?? I’m in heaven. I desperately needed this today! I hope you’re doing ok and that you’re currently literate and reading something that sparks joy for you 💚
I like that you're steadily collecting photos of unhinged male love interests on the wall behind you like pokemon cards
i still need to put up alex from twisted love to complete my set so far
instead of just hating/eye-rolling on books that are so ridiculous and objectively stupid, i’ve started reading them with the mindset of ‘this is the kind of godsend material
lexi would be pulling so many quips and commentaries out of in her video summaries’ and suddenly my reading experience becomes exponentially more bearable and entertaining.

Lexi's genre jumping has started giving me whiplash
the welcome to nightvale reference whipped me back into memories i didn’t know existed
“the arctic tundra that is my heart” FELT 😭
you always have phrases that describe me in vibes
I audibly said “YIPEE” when this upload came into my notifications. Thank you Lexi for the serotonin!
Yes studying for APs is hell
I need some happiness
@@Pleiades21 seriously. I’m currently going through it with final essay planning. Absolutely desd
THE SPEAR CUTS THROUGH WATER!! ugh one of my favorite books. i feel like i would struggle to describe it the way you did, do you script your videos pretty tightly? you are so articulate my dude
also “but simon said no” i’m dead you’re hilarious
i script almost everything i do :) don't tell anyone lol (i like having my thoughts together so i don't ramble on forever)
PLEASE MAKE A RECAP OF THE REST OF THE TWISTED SERIES, omg i just finished watching your last video and I NEED MORE i love your humor so much
A twisted lies video yesssss definitelyyy
Also, kind of really wanted to hear your opinion and thoughts on Nov 9 so it'd be great if you could do a video about it!

WHEN LEXI POSTS🎉
i just finished the Caraval series and i feel like you could do a whole unpacking video on that series, it was so bad 😭😭😭
Beautiful disaster movie is worth checking out if not simply just for how vastly different it is from the book. the book makes the movie look like the notebook

FELT on the jump scare with how she was connected because literally same, had me scrambling

i think you are like my book jesus for romance books picks because every romance that you like i absolutely adore it thank you so much
Totally agree about the Family Upstairs. It was very average 😭
I was so disappointed after None Of This Is True :(
Thank you for always adding to my tbr 😂 seriously though, i would never have heard of some books if I didn’t watch your videos. You have such a wide range of genres.
your videos give me a dopamine boost i love it! you’re honestly so cool
You could upload every day and I’d eat that shit up like Sunday breakfast. Love you, hope you are feeling better! 🌷🌷
SO happy to see another upload 🩷🩷 i love seeing these wrap ups so I can add more books to my tbr that I never look at
I just CANNOT stop looking at the uncle from Credence in your background on the wall 🤣🤣🤣
as someone who loves investigative journalism on really weird stuff I am so excited to read going clear
literally guffawed at the 07:08 point omg
Just a note to share that your videos make me so happy! You are important, and I hope you feel better.
But Lexi, you ARE effortlessly fascinating! XD Thanks for another video- stay strong, the weird life existential anxiety gets easier as you get older, I promise!

No no because I want a tour. I’m intrigued by how the office- house situation works
When Lexi posts, whatever I’m doing I drop and I watch 👏🏻
I’m midway through Stay True so it’s so good to hear your overall thoughts ☺️
