Solid month man! You really devoured some. Your November is looking great too. I read 12 books last month which is a new record for me. Ashes of Man and Hunger of the gods standing at solid 5s. Golden Son at 4.5 A Little Hatred 4 Midnight Library 4 Than a bunch of 3-3.5 reads that were decent but didnt sweep me off my feet. This month (i finished Fury -4.5) and ill be wrapping up We are the Dead in a few days and moving on to a BC read of Raptor Red and afrer going into book 2 A Fools Hope. Then book 2 of Age of Madness. Thats all the physical reads atm, possibly DCC but idk if it'll be this month or next. Audio is kind of a wild mess of random books on Libby. Just trying out new genres and such.
@@Dugrath 12!? Man, you’re crushing your reading goals this year! I’m also happy Red Rising picked up for you and seeing your 4.5 rating for Fury has picked up my excitement for it, I’m 10% in. Your November is looking good, love to see the use of Libby
Great vid! I really need to start Dungeon Crawler Carl. I finished 5 books this month. The best of them was definitely 'Priest' by Matt Colville. Awesome fantasy story with some really unique writing in parts. I'd hesitate to recommend it though as its part of an unfinished series thats on indefinite hiatus. But its a great book if you dont mind that.
Can't go wrong with King, Hobb and Abercrombie. The latter two are Top 5 Fantasy authors for me. Aren't you glad I told you not to skip Best Served Cold and Liveship Traders? 😂 Liveship is wonderful, of all of RotE its the only subseries that can truly standalone. In October I read: *Fantasy* Earthsea 4: Tehanu - My long overdue return to LeGuin and Earthsea. Wonderful. These books are my idea of cosy Fantasy. Love the themes of found family and ageing. Book of The Month! Gave me similar vibes to Fool's Errand (Tawny Man 1) Memory, Sorrow & Thorn 2: Stone of Farewell - Scratches that LotR and ASOIAF itch, tho so far I like it more that LotR. More in line of what I was hoping Wheel of Time and Faithful & the Fallen would be. *Horror* The Ritual / Adam Nevill - Couldn't put it down! I'll try to prioritise more Nevill going forward. I didn't find the 2nd half as creepy though. *Image Comics* Criminal 2: Lawless Written by Ed Brubaker | Art by Sean Philips - Didn't love this as much as I did the previous volume. Didn't find the plot as engaging. *Marvel Comics* Ultimate Spider-man 1: Married with Children Written by Jonathan Hickman | Art by Marco Checchetto - Loved this! The Spider-man Marvel refuses to give the fans in the main continuity for nearly twenty years! *Short Fiction* Hell is the Absence of God / Ted Chiang - As an atheist with no spiritual leanings this was an interesting read. As for what I'm currently reading: *Epic Fantasy* Fitz & the Fool 2: Fool's Quest Memory, Sorrow & Thorn 3: To Green Angel Tower On Pause for now: Wars of Light & Shadow 1: Curse of the Mistwraith (re-read)
@@thatsci-firogue I am very glad for your advice there, Liveships on its own could be my second favourite series potentially. And seeing how BSC is setting up future Firat Law books! I think a lot of the hype for Greenbone , or at least for me - is that feeling when u finish the series and it feels like u actually just spent 30 years with those characters. For all the interesting stories was there an interesting character? Great set up! Did not expect us to be so completely opposite in opinions regarding Best Served Cold! Usually I'm vibing pretty similarly when it comes to books we have both read. As for weaknesses? Main character is a bore, the plot is too repetitive and formulaic after a time, the book is simply too long, as we get nearer the end the hurdles become quite simplistic (Joe probably realized he spent already way too much time on the book and wanted to wrap it up quickly) and Shivers degraded into a total cliche.
