Overall it is my least favourite subseries of RotE, though I'd read it again. Fitz & Fool 1: Fool's Assassin - Book of the Month! Loved the Gothic atmosphere throughout and exploring the later years Fitz's life. My only complaint, is that there isn't enough of the Fool. *Image Comics* Criminal 1: Coward Written by Ed Brubaker | Art by Sean Philips - Read in a sitting! I read the worst book that I finished in September, but it ended up the best reading month. Not only did I read my favorite book of the year (so far), but i read other excellent things as well. The first twenty pages of Jinx High by Mercedes Lackey were good, but she decides to change characters and thus change the plot. I kept going because I typically enjoy Lackey. But it ultimately ended with some terrible misandry that made me angry for days afterward. I followed it up with the classic boy's adventure book, My Side of the Mountain by Jean George. It was so great that I thought it would be my favorite book of the month. Then I read Slewfoot by Brom, and it became my favorite book of the year so far. I also (finally) read Island of Doctor Moreau. While it wasn't my favorite HG Wells, it was still excellent. I stumbled on a Michael Crichton/James Rollins style sci-fi thriller written by my favorite historical fiction authors, Michael and Kathleen Gear, called Raising Abel, and it was an exciting read.
Unfortunately I didn’t read that much in September due to having Covid (2nd time) and then because of work. I did start House of Chains by Erikson and I’m really enjoying it so far. I can’t wait to read Fury of the Gods!
