I have the Taiga and this is a fair review of it. I love mine and wont be getting rid of it anytime soon but i wish more tube reviewers had emphasized what a PITA the ADSR is. Pittsburgh addressed this in their Taiga Keyboard and you can take your unit to Pittsburgh to get it modified, but this is no use to those of us that don't live in USA and already have the Taiga. I really like the way you have used the Taiga in the music for this video (more than most other videos). This makes me suspect that (as you openly stated) it is just not optimized for the type of music you like to make. Everyone says things about it being and East/West combination but i feel perhaps it is more West Coast first, if that make sense. Thanks for your review. D.

I started making music at a time when digital synthesizers were taking over. Analog devices disappeared temporarily and we started playing with digital synths and then vsts. And one day, they appeared as very expensive, hard-to-find vintage products. “Why don't they just remanufacture these old devices?” I asked a lot. We waited too long. At least we will be able to use it from now on. I would like to thank those who brought this reproduction idea to life.

But we hate Behringer

I wish the lfo/midi modulation was as snappy as the envelopes. It would make this synth perfect for me.

.....and finally, it does not sound like an Oberheim. All the analog gear from Behringer does not have enough output. Very annoying......simply too much hype and no quality in sound.

Wonderful video, really learned even more about how midi works with PCs!You may have addressed this in the video but I'm looking for some clarification: with this device can you sync the audio timecode from Ableton and track midi notes from Ableton simultaneously to external hardware?

Having owned one, I still don't get the facination. Without the CHORUS it literally sounds as flat as a pancake, because of the single digital controlled oscillator. Can we please move on from this and the DX??

I'm a JX-8P owner, so I'm biased, but I think the JX-08 sound good, just slightly different. Sometimes better, sometimes worse IMO. I think they should've called it the JX-20 it something and marketed it as ,"The next step in the evolution of the JX line that started with the JX-3P in 1983".

Die überragende konstruktive "Build Quality" muss ich nach meiner Erfahrung ein wenig relativieren. Es gibt offenbar eine Schwäche im Layout der Spannungsversorgung. Mich hat der Betrieb hinter einer Schalterleiste über die ich den Matriarch an- und ausgeschaltet habe knapp 400 € Reparatur gekostet und rund 3 Monate Wartezeit und Suche nach einem Reparaturbetrieb. Von Moog habe ich keinerlei Unterstützung erhalten. An alle, die einen Matriarch haben der dringende Rat: immer nur am Geräteschalter ein- und ausschalten!!!

Great little synth that I didn't like at first. The VS mini is perfect for experimental noise/power electronics and also techno. Looking for the OBX-A mini next.

That really depends on: your workflow and your use of Ableton. O use ableton exclusively in session view. Forced myself to learn It. For who use a Lot of session view, It can be awesome. Besides, it saves me a Lot of things to carry. In my workflow I carry a push 2 + interface+ laptop. Carrying only one case for me Will be a quality of life improvement

I know one of the dudes who was a beta tester and contributed to presets and my dude hates the machine... lets be real. you pay for what you get. and your getting a trash synth. I'm no synth snob or behringer hater. i do own 4 behringers. but I own a real Oberheim. @ 24:15 it sounds like a joke.

Apparently there is a 7 khz low-pass filter to filter out digital noise from the processor board on the main output which the RD9 doesn't have. That is why the RD9 sounds a bit more "punchy" and clearer especially in the highs. When using the individual outputs that filter is bypassed and they sound much more identical. I have listened to several comparison video's and testing it blind each time I like the original sound more, it sounds smoother and more "buttery" to my ears (due to said filter on the main output). As I am typing this I am ordering a RD9, it's an excellent high quality slightly improved clone and for it's pricepoint it's unmatched. Behringer really nailed it imo with the RD9!

about 10 years ago, i bought a used PA system which also included a behringer mixer and Oh Boy. That thing was straight up trash. Not their cheap synths which i now own their 808, 909, Pro800 and Model D. Pots feel great, nothing cheap feeling about it and solid. Great to see people can get there hands on these without it being a huge financial commitment. Thank you 👍😁✌️🙂

I bought mine a couple of weeks ago. I would have used your link, but now I follow your channel! My use case is to connect it to my iPad or phone with Korg gadget and make midi sequences. I mostly play around with it because I am not a musician but I like to make beats as a hobby. In my case it is great to learn! This should be for school kids. Imagine having a class and they teach you Synthesis and the size is perfect. In my school days we had to buy a “flute” to learn in music class.

Nice to hear some history on the synths, i got into synth repairs a few years ago and have 2 of the Sirius i got for repairs (1 just needed a clean mostly) which are fun and interesting to play about with. Also managed to pick up a Raven which i should learn to use too. Fun and quirky instruments that have some nice features once you learn them. Look forward to watching more of your videos

Arturia sounds flat, TAL is more realistic but too aggressive sadly. The real thing is way ahead because the filter sounds so much better than any software. That's the reason to use the hardware. You can get some good pad and bass sounds out of software, but the envelope filter on the original beats plug-in. I've done the same test, hardware won every time. Softube are virtually giving away their Juno emu it's so bad.

I personally look for endless mod capabilities in a synth like the Hydrasynth, MiniFreak, or PolyBrute. Can the Super 6 compete with those synths modulation wise?

It is April 2024. I was banking on purchasing a Sequential Take 5. I had written Hydrasynth Explorer off, but I might change my mind. What I’m in search of is a portable synth capable of emulating my ARP Odyssey clone (as well as Moog, Oberheim & Sequential) but with patch memory capabilities (4 banks of *128 patches,* baby) and that coveted Yamaha-inspired poly touch. That this is meant to be a PPG- and Ensoniq-style wavetable synth is worth taking into consideration for the future. As attractive as Take 5 is with VCOs, 44 full-size keys and dedicated knob-per-function controllers, I would still probably be better off HS Explorer. All it lacks architecturally is a vocoder, and I could get a vocoder module later if I chose this bugger.

So glad they did the monopoly instead of the polysix which always seems to get the focus, like for example in Kronos. Give me the MP any day. Great demo as always boys!

I watch all quality Hydrasynth videos and they all remind me that I made the right choice.

8 voices on a WT synth is just too low for me, that's the issue. For me the Modwave module (just for studio use) is the compromise, as it has polyphony, and I don't ever need to use it for bass. The plugin is far too heavy even on M2 Mac Ultra, so the hardware is worth it in this case. Thoroughly enjoying your reviews every day, thank you. PS you definitely made the hydraysynth sound better than previous demos.

To my taste, the Orbiter and Phase (stereo!) plugins from 112dB sound better than the effects in the Solina. Sawtooth through, some filter, adsr, eq and .... sounds immediately like jarre. Ok, itˋs not hardware….
