    The Behringer Kobol Expander is a really great synthesizer. I've been experimenting with it for the last few days and I have to say that it really sounds extremely good and has a very unique sound character. I haven't had as much fun with a synthesizer as the Kobol Expander in a long time.

    I remember when I discovered how to make percussion sounds on my first analogue synth, a Korg Mono,/Poly. Noise for snares or claps, and filter resonance for all sorts of sounds I'd heard on things like early Human League songs. Nowadays my preferred source of analogue drum sounds is the Korg MS-20, then sampling them.

    • @winesynths
      @winesynths  5 месяцев назад +2

      The Monopoly was also great to create those loops with the arpeggiator in round robin mode! Sometimes I am tempted to get one again! 🤖

      @@winesynths The four oscillators cycling around was another favourite trick of mine as well. My brother loved the Mono/Poly so much I ended up giving it to him, so it's now been in the same family for 30 years! Behringer have a clone of the Mono/Poly which I'd be very interested in seeing reviewed by you.

      The monopoly ( original one) had sloppy enveloppe timing wich was the reason i sold it to R&S records more than 30 years ago, not suitable for drums , the best synth you could own for this purpose was the system100M , because you could switch the VCA lineair to exponential , in drums all the frequency info is in that first milliseconds and there is where you want the flexibility

    remark, to succesfully synthesize drums you would need at least a multimode filter , behringer neutron is a far more capable synth for this

    #Inspirational without being too rational :) As I just got myself a hardware sampler, my FIRST real sampler to be more specific ... making strange sounds with analogue synths seems to be a nice adventure. #ESI4000 it is. I really like the Kobol's gnarly attitude, but I'll have to look elsewhere as I make purchase decisions also based on the manufacturers company ethics. 🎉

      Japan bombed Pearl Harbor 31 years before Roland became a company, so, no one should be using 808s or 909s. WOKENESS thinking it simply has to invade every crevice of the world! I had a Soviet drum machine, LELL UDS, produced before the Berlin Wall came down. I guess I am just a pinko commie socialist then, or that’s cool now? Cobalt is mined unethically so you better quit using cellular phones and laptops?

    • @MJanovicable
      @MJanovicable 5 месяцев назад +6

      @@LagoLhn I'm betting one doing the research would find that unfortunately the practices are common--they were in the early days of the synthesizer, specifically stealing ideas and actual technology copying that violated patents, such as when ARP stole from Moog...and then vice-versa. Nothing is pure, which is how it goes. The others? Genuinely expensive models aside, they (like Roland, just one example) charged outrageous prices for decades, which was never right either. Speaking of models, how about business ones: the small-sized synth company and one like Korg or Roland are apples and oranges. Everyone uses parts from China. Emo punk was never good.

    • @LagoLhn
      @LagoLhn 5 месяцев назад

      @@MJanovicable Totally get it. And I agree. I’m less concerned with their manufacturing and more concerned with the way Behringer has gone after people they view to be enemies of the brand. There is a history behind this that you can search out on the web. It is all pretty well documented out there. In the meantime, wishing you fruitful journeys in sound!

    This synth, like many Behinger products, is not actually available in most markets. Their catalog looks huge but they're really a paper tiger. This duplicitous and deceptive marketing reflects poorly on both Behinger and on you as a youtube content creator. Thanks for nothing.
