This is the best demo of the Kobol I've seen yet. Someone showing what it can actually do, without just modulating the waveform. It's one of my best buys.
I totally concur with EVERYTHING that you just said- I LOVE my Kobol Expander, even though I already own 10 other mono synths, there’s just something absolutely MAGICAL about how it sounds. 🖤🤍
@@23hughmann Same here. I love the Odyssey, but the Kobol just has something about it. I like modulating VCO 2's frequency in sync. If you start messing with the frequency while it's playing, it just sounds savage.
I LOVE BEHRINGER. Loved it when I didn’t have any money to buy but it was the most affordable for a teenager trying to make music, love it when I am an adult able to buy and bought them all. You can have an either studio of Behringer now, from mixer to delay to synths and drums and make incredible music. Beautiful sounds!
THANK YOU for showing us how freakin INCREDIBLE this $200 mono synth can sound, especially when played so lovingly and by someone like yourself, who is an absolute MASTER CRAFTSMAN! -I checked out some of your other soundsets (BRAVO on the DFAM and Edge, especially) and as soon as I can afford it, I will DEFINITELY be purchasing some of your INCREDIBLE/INSPIRED/INSPIRING sound design templates. Again, THANK YOU!!
Indeed! Makes me very excited about the Polykobol Keyboard that Behringer had announced a few years back (and just recently gave an update that it is about to go into production. We are living in truly magical times! (At least, as far as music-making goes)
I was looking for a small analog synth to pair with my Subharmonicon. Your intro sold me right away. I didn't even wait a minute in to order one. Thank you :D
Great synth. Love the snappiness of its envelope generator. I have tried passin one of the triangle wave through a folder and it barks! Perfect bass machine also!
I’ve just bought the set, can’t wait to start playing with them. I’ve got the Kobol, a TD-3-MO, a 2600, and an RD-6. I’m really new to electronic music, this is my first set up and I absolutely love it. I just need something for pads now, I’m thinking of maybe a Blofeld. Anyway, thanks man these patches sound amazing 😀
@@AntonAnru can we buy these 'patches' in England? I don't have a clue how to use mine yet but I only got it yesterday and haven't had time to do anything yet.
@@barnskimagroo yeah mate they’re excellent, I’d never have got those sounds out of it on my own. I’m in England as well by the way, didn’t have any issues 👍
I'm listening to this on a decent hifi system and can't believe you could buy this sound quality instrument for so little money. Everything used to be so expensive. No idea if it sounds like an actual RSF Kobol.
PL Contour is epic. How would you describe this synth’s character? Its basic character sounds fairly close to a pro 1, but wayyyy snappier, punchier, sharper, etc…
Question: in most of the patches (e.g LD King, PL Nordic, PL Hysteria) I hear some strings in background, are they produced by the same patches or did you overdub 2 different patches? Great work, I love your patches!
Just mono. I had thought duo = it could play 2 tones at once when I pre-ordered. Being bummed about that went away once I got the hang of it; sounds amazing. Great demo too!
@@brunobridge7253 You could have told me straight away that you have no clue at all! Would have saved me a quarter of an hour of my lifetime for trying fun workaround! I do not want to mute VCO2! -- For that I could use the big Volume knob above the socket. I need VCO2 but without any yodelling.
@@AntonAnru this is not a quiz, guys, that was naturally the first thing I tried, and it doesn’t work: not normalised, it does not interrupt the connection between LFO and VCO2!

Kobol is Behringer’s best recreation. I absolutely love it. It’s so easy to craft sounds.
yes! I worked with pleasure
is there anything unique about it? I have a lot of monosynths already
@@delta-9969If you only get one behringer, which one?
Yes, but I have doubts we really hear the Behringer...

Behringer haters have too much money... what a versatile and elegant analog mono synth ! Thanks for this very nice demo btw
Kobol is really nice
as a bassline or lead generator it give you exactly what you need, could be also great to do some kind of early Yazoo or Depeche Mode sound.

Yes. To my taste it's the best sounding Behringer
@@AntonAnru agree. I would like to pair it with a Neutron, but to go for a second Kobol is a tempting option. Do you think that would be wise?
I think pair with neutron is more interesting. Neutron is also one of the Behringer tops
sounds really nice
thank you
This is very good indeed. Lovely sounds. This synth has real character. Great sound design.
thank you. yes, the synth is very nice
Best Kobol demo ever!

I second what Anton says, 100%!

PL Contour is epic. How would you describe this synth’s character? Its basic character sounds fairly close to a pro 1, but wayyyy snappier, punchier, sharper, etc…
I think it's one of the best sounding synths by Behringer.
@@AntonAnru what would you put it above? Anything you’d put it under?
I'd probably put neutron above, as it also sounds great and has more features

thank you. the background pads/chords are third-party sounds produced by other synths. they are not included to the soundset
SOLD! You make a good case buying one of these. I can tell you've been making EDM for quite some time. Everything sounds posh!
Do I really need this if I already have a B-2600, B-Model D, a B-Pro 800 and a Korg MS-20 mini?
I'd stop with this list. Or if you still want kobol, I'd replace 2600 with it
No, you don't actually. But if you're like me, suffering from GAS, then you do. :)
This or the k-2? Which one would you tecommend?
kobol 100%
PL Spiral reminded me of . . . Spiral by Vangelis. I wonder whether he used a Kobol back then.
No, he used Yamaha cs80 for this
@@AntonAnruNo it was his Roland system 100 , it's w

Is the example at 2.02 just one single instance of Kobol? It sounds like on this one (and a few others) there's a separate bass part.
Yes, i add pads and drums to the demos
Hi Anton,
congratulation for your video.
Can you tell me please what vst or instrument do you use for the pads sound?
Thanks in advance,
Christian
Hello. Usually i use Spire or Analog Lab
Great stuff, what are you using for reverb and delay?
thank you. usually I use effects by Ableton, Valhalla, Soundtoys
is the Kobol going through effects?
Yes. Delay and reverb
sounds like The Knife
Before I buy a Zigarette, i Must buy a Anton Anru Preset :-) It´s Fun and Healthy, more than a Zigarette. 😅 THX
i've got many presets, and will make even more. you will be able to stay healthy for the rest of the life
One thing. In Behringer's release details for the Kobol, it says 'duophonic'. I thought it was just mono?

@@goodvibrations2311 It's definitely a good one, isn't it?
Nice video!
I have a Behringer Kobol question: Any way to disconnect the LFO from VCO2?
Yes. Insert a patch lead into the VCO2 input.
He meant to mute vco2 pitch modulation. Put a dummy cable into LFO OUT
@@AntonAnru this is not a quiz, guys, that was naturally the first thing I tried, and it doesn’t work: not normalised, it does not interrupt the connection between LFO and VCO2!
I've checked my patches. I used this trick. Put a dummy cable into VCO MOD IN
the way this synth sounds is not entirely great compared to some of the behringer synths.

sound like a micro moog
