    That’s lovely. The build up is tremendous. I’ve started getting into hardware recently. Liked, and indeed, subscribed. Cheers!

      @@jonmaddisonThat sounds like a lovely setup! The crave looks like a lot of fun. Combined with the nearly limitless power of VCV rack, and well, you can go nuts creatively for sure!

      @@electronictiger luckily I’ve not found anything in VCVRack where I think, “oh, I needn’t have bought that hardware”. It so far has complemented/extended it nicely.

    Wow so great! What is your sequencer brand/model? (That Ableton control-like thing)

      @@RamtinDidab thanks Ranting! I'm using the Five12 Vector hardware sequencer. And I'm using the Novation Launchpad Mini to control the Vector.
      The Vector 2 should be coming out soon. With some cool new features. Making an already fantastic sequencer even more awesome.

    I stumbled upon your vids while looking for examples of music pieces made with the Kobol Expander. Neat things around here ! And the more I listen to pieces based on the Kobol, the more I feel an urge to buy it !

      I'm happy you found me. I think the Kobol Expander is a wonderful little synth. The tuning is stable, the tracking is great and the envelopes are mighty snappy. And I think it has great sounding oscillators and filter. So I'd totally understand if you give in to that urge to buy one. I would, well I did. :)

    Which semi modular Behringer pair would you suggest to buy first for techno jamming?
    I’m already somewhat experienced with modulars but don’t have my own.
    I was falling for the Neutron and Proton for the versatility but then realized their sound doesn’t seem as good as the others (like Kobol or K2). Now I’m confused.

    • @electronictiger
      @electronictiger  26 дней назад

      What kind of techno do you want to make? Abstract, textured or something more with melodies?
      I haven't tried the Proton yet, but it seems very similar to the Neutron. With some cool new tricks. I don't think the Neutron sounds bad, but it certainly does sound raw, yes. If that's not your thing I would probably recommend the Kobol Expander and the Pro-1. They have less patch points than the Neutron / Proton and the K-2, but their sounds are fantastic!!
      About the K-2: like the original MS-20, the K-2 uses 1.2 volt per octave for its pitch. Not the Eurorack standard of 1 volt per octave. It's not important if you want to control it via MIDI. But if you want to use a hardware sequencer with control voltages it is something to be aware of.
      Hope this helps!

    • @RamtinDidab
      @RamtinDidab 26 дней назад +1

      @@electronictiger thank you so much! The K2 MKII voltages are Eurorack compatible, but it’s not available in stores now otherwise would be an instant buy.
      I would like to ultimately be able to do all (melodic, bass, soundscapy,…) but don’t know with which one of the synths to start. I have read with the Neutron that “dullness” of the sound is mostly because of the overdrive module. So maybe bypassing it with the patchbay would make the oscillator have that “bite” that Crave has (?).

    • @electronictiger
      @electronictiger  26 дней назад +1

      @@RamtinDidab You're welcome Ramtin! Are you sure the K2MKII has proper Eurorack scaling for the pitch? I mean 1.2 volt per octave is perfectly compatible with Eurorack. You're just getting different pitches than you would expect. But the hardware can take it just fine. I had a quick look around and I don't see it mentioned anywhere that they changed that. But maybe I missed something?
      I wouldn't describe the Neutron as dull sounding. Not at all. The distortion is a blunt tool, but it can be used to great effect.
      I think the Crave uses the same oscillator chips as the Neutron. But the Crave does have a Moog-style ladder filter. Ladder filters tend to be a bit more aggressive sounding. I think they overdrive internally by design, but I'm not sure. Anyway, you can get very similar and very different sounds out of both synths.
