THANK YOU, it was because of THIS video and your first one on this LOVELY (and seriously inexpensive) work of ART that I HAD TO get one for myself- and, even though I already had several other synths, has quickly become my absolute favorite piece of gear!! Can’t wait for Behringer to release their long ago announced POLYKOBOL Synthesizer!!
He knows exactly how to push one´s buttons to get interested in new things... 😁 ...got mine yesterday and I´m glad that I´ve made the decision to check out the KOBOL, too. It will remain for a long time, I guess.
It’s the synth I spend a lot of time using now. I just love it .I can even get guitar like sounds from it,and add a few pedals and they take it to another level. Good vid as usual.
Great video. Pretty amazing what you can do with this thing and you did an excellent job of showing that. Seems like something a lot of people could get a lot of interesting usage out of, maybe even do things they've never done before. Can't wait until you show us what can be done with a UB-Xa.
Bought the synth and the patch set within 5 mins. It has been the best first night with a synth - actually learning what it can do through building the patches and useful annotations on what to change in the PDF. Superb. Please do other sets for the sub 37, b 2600 especially the 2600 with some different/ your styles!
Thank you for this high quality video, like all of your reviews on a very high level, covering every possible detail. In my opinion, the final mix unfortunately is dominated by the drums, so that the synth gets drowned. However, there are very few other reviewers that provide reliable opinions.
It’s a great synth. Try using an auxiliary cv to map velocity to one of the many modulation inputs. Velocity to osc 2 level to filter fm is a favourite.
Hey Mr Star-Sky! These more in depth vids are so interesting! Now i want to buy a complimantary to put on the leftsite of the Kobol. Maybe a high tech module with quantize and multi’s voor the voltage processor. What would you do?
Mr. Carr! As this is an Expansion Module and if I were to get it, I would be using it between two Behringer Neutrons, It would’ve been great to see you use the Kobol to modulate etc, another Behringer desktop guy, saaaaay for instance the Neutron or a Modal D or Mod 15. Just a thought, as I think it’s kind of designed to kind of do that with is it not? OK, all the best to you and please keep the killer coming, NAIan
Sounds cool. Would be lovely to hear if this makes sweet noises this with the Behringer PRO800 feeding notes into it if you are stuck for things to do for giant poly noise (maybes because i have PRO800 and trying to justify getting this too 🤗)
Nice vid as usual, even more keen on getting my hands on one now. Trying to justify it to my wife is proving difficult as I’ve just bought a Lyra-8. Any advice?
@@StarskyCarrif you name’s Paul Daniels maybe, but sadly I have no magical skills. And my wife’s got eyes everywhere, she’s a wiley fox, I’m doomed. But I shall still buy one when I can find one available. I’ll learn to play with my feet.
@@StarskyCarrI very nearly got nine camels in exchange for her in Egypt. I considered it seriously until I realised getting them home might have been an issue, it’s a long walk from Gatwick.
Same as with every other 2 osc analog synth. I was showing the things this does that others don’t. I’ve got loads of videos showing how to program synths… there’s no difference with this
One of the few synths I never found in the 90´s so I can´t say how close it´s this clone but sounds good but maybe too close to the Pro-One clone? Happy 2024!
@@m9shamalan the problem appears to be how people use the bloody things. The Kobol is rich and phat - but what I hear here (!) is scrichy scratchy banshee wailing. Why? The kobol was important to Depeche Mode.

Thanks for this video ! I definitively need a Kobol Expander to discuss with my Neutron and my 2600... :)
I have mine on preorder from Sweetwater. Sounds great. Thanks for the demo, Starsky!
Great video and a really nice track to end - well worth giving the Kobol a serious look - if I can find space! :)
there's always space! :)
Some nice ideas there particularly using the OSCs as LFOs and double modulating
I thought you was Michael "not a lot of people know that" Cain. Keep keeping on. I'm bladdered 😂

@@StarskyCarr Quite dapper indeed.
Thanks a lot ! That's what i was literally waiting for 🔥🔥🔥
Hope it comes in handy.
Starsky, you magnificent beast! Thanks f all the insight! I'd love to pair this w a Neutron or the Crave
@starsky which do you like better, Cat or Kobol?
Sounds ease of play, styles of music. Stuff along those lines.
Any plans for JT4000 content on Your channel?
I don’t have one sorry. It wasn’t something I was drawn to - I don’t know why!
Fantastic!! Awesome!! 🤩🤩🤩
GREAT CONTENT Mr. Carr! At this price point, ...damn! Love the gritty timbres..I'm all about that. Thx for this. Also, Behringer h8rs...pfft. lol!
This is great!
Super la petite démo ! Il y a de quoi faire avec cette vieille technologie française ressuscitée ✌

Blinkin eck. That Fm has got me 😊
Thanks for your vids, could you please tell me how to set up Glide with additional equipment. Doepfer Midi to CV ?
the glasses look really good on you actually!
Haha… I’m on the lookout for something ‘special’ 🥸
Wow what a bad little box thank you cool video
Nice one Joe 90! 😉

I am so excited to grab KOBOL in few days. I do not really click with NEUTRON but this one appears as something completely different.

Great video. That has a lot of modulation possibilities.
What are those patch cords? They look like they're really good quality.
I saw some similar ones on EBay.

You Cained it!
I'm wanting to add it and mix with the minilogue xd. Wonder how well it would work
Thank you for sharing! Could you tell what brand of patch cables you're using in the video? t.i.a.!
AJH Synths. I got them when I bought the minimod, don’t know if they sell them separately
as always, Awesome video and cool eye glass frames. who makes them? 😊
No idea… whoever cheapest on Amazon probably!
I gonna sell my Buchla 208c ….

A rookie mistake … mentioning it to your wife 😂😂 it’s small enough to just appear as if it was always there!

Find an old piece of gear you never use anymore / is broken, lend it to a mate and tell her you did a straight swap 👍
Not really a fan of the harsh fm sounds, but I'm still loving my Behringer Kobol expander!
I like them as they’re something most other little units can’t touch.
Have one on pre-order...would be nice if it were to ship...it has been since early November.
I got lucky with this.. ordered last July I think and it turned up unexpectedly a couple of months later. Andertons in the Uk
I see that u connect IN port to other IN port. Is that safe? Can i break my Kobol like that?
Do I? It shouldn’t do any harm but where did I do that? I’m wondering what the point would be.

1. Look out Chemical Brothers with that demo track.
2. A track is not a track unless it has a reese bass in it. ;)

I hope Behringer create the Expander II in the same format.

Matter of taste, friends. Meself, I LOVE scratchy driven timbres! To each his own...the benefits of rockin in the free world. ;)
A HP filter would be perfect, to modulate the cutoff with some resonance and make some crispy tones.
