@@winesynths Hmm.... 😊The best wine I ever tasted was a haute medoc , many years ago, but never knew the name and gave up trying overly expensive ones trying to find it...
In general, wines from this region are a good choice. You should look for the "Cru Bourgeois" label. This always warrants decent Bordeaux quality at prices below 20 or 30€/$. On the other end you have the Grand Crus Classées that will start clearly beyond this price range. They are often absolutely comparable to the Cru Bourgeois if you know the right Château.

What a price for this synth is really what this is all about if people were a little more honest. The more expensive polys have in built effects and far greater sound design permutations. But it's a wonderful sound from the synth and extraordinary low price.
Could you provide an explanation of "far greater sound design"? Or it's just another non-grounded subjective opinion?
@@vintagesynthesizers the original obx-a was a limited synth , it even did not feature volumepots for osc level , just on /off or half , it was not a soundesign synth , but that was the original , Behringer added a modmatrix so without knowing all it's routings it goes well beyond by offering a matrix
The OBX8 for 3000 $ more doesn't have effects neither, no polyphonic aftertouch and pretty much the same sound editing except for the OBX-Mode the UBX doesn't have.
@@vintagesynthesizershe talking about modulation. Something like the Rev 2 has modualtion for days. The Xa wasn’t exactly an Xpander in modulation. So that’s just Berhinger keeping the same specs of the original.
pretty inaccurate assessment right there. You can do things with this synth that you cannot do with other, more expensive synths. The trick is in that PAT keybed to give you extra modulation.
Something I LOVE about my Hydrasynth is that I can program the polyAT decay however I like. Can the polyAT of the UB-Xa be tweaked like so?
Have to try this. What I also like on the Hydra is the release velocity! 😁

How is the action on the keybed? Is it close to a Fatar or anything comparable?
It's very nice to play. A bit like on the Hydrasynth. The Keybed feels less snug and lighter in action than a Fatar. But far better than the cheap modern Korg or Roland Keys. The Poly-Aftertouch works absolutely great!
Sounds good and I’ll probs buy one, but it doesn’t sound like my OBXa. I was hoping they’d get closer to the Magic. That board just oozes great sound after great sound. This one sounded like a lot of the slop or vintage feature (I forget what it’s called on this synth) was used to artificially age the circuits. Not bad but so prevailing. I’d love to get my hands on one and put it through its paces.
I would like to hear a good comparison! My mate with the real OB-Xa was busy.

It's a massive synth, size and sound, I can just fit 1 in, or maybe get the module, but that means no PAT keybed which defeats the purpose of the modulation.
Maybe I will go for the module if there will be one, or Behringer needs to come up with a TARDIS studio....
M-AUdio Oxygen pro has AT and it's a bargain.

Most keybeds offer AT, the ones that don't are in a minority.
@@dankeplace Not all do specially with midi controllers or any vintage synths. Korg Keystage has true PAT.

Il ne vaudrait mieux pas je pense...
Le son passe juste par la Reverb qui est a 25% sur le send de la piste Ableton. C’est pour mettre un fond. Le Micro est juste ouvert lorsque je parle. Dans cette video il n‘a même pas de compresseur pour egaliser les niveaux.
The sound of the OB-Xa has never been my cup of tea. Shame...
Same. I’m excited this was possible, as behringer nailed the sound. I have to be honest with myself though and stop myself from purchasing when the Oberheim thing just really doesn’t suit my personal taste.
I never was a big Obi-Sound fan though. But now, with the UB, I start to dig it!
It was more a progrock synth in the 80 than a soundcreation tool , the parameter depth of a prophet went well beyond what the oberheim could, oberheim did have the polyphonic glide wich was it's feature together with voice pan

Has the looks of an OBX, has the features of an OBX, has the sound of a Behringer. Nonethless a nice synth.
What other Behringer synth sounds like this? From demos I’ve heard, the Deepmind doesn’t even come close.
@@alex_darsen I am not saying all behringer sound the same. But I can hear they share some same characteristic, maybe it is the filter, the envelopes or the oscillators. The UBX sounds fat but I miss that 'warmth' from the original or even a Prophet. Just my opinion. Cool if it is fine with you and others.
I'd agree it doesn't sound like 'I'll Wait' by van Halen. Missing dirt in the vca's?
