How not to waste an off season - The Cut Day 33
First
TAKE THAT MEANA
I went shake, shake, shake. Then chug, chug, chug. This one is TOO FUNNY, Seth!
Use coffee instead of water in your protein shake for great satiation and immediate toilet meeting! Saddest cut day ever, but its getting done!
why do you have 75 grams of protein in powder meals and 60 in real meals? Also 270 grams of ground bison is more than 60 protein
I think myfitness pal was lying to me
I can't believe you didn't pronounce the "th" in "itholate"
This might be the only period where my scrawny ass (-66kg trying to finally fill out the -74kg) eats more than you. I certainly don’t want to swap, though. My condolences, and keep doing what you’re doing, since it seems to be working :)
Well that was certainly the saddest food video I have ever seen. I'm dieting too, I feel you man.
Bro you know you can do with that meal 2? You can take some old coffee and freeze it in little cubes, and you can make that thing into a nice cold coffee shake. Try it! No extra calories
The problem with this is that I lack the forsight necessary skip chugging coffee and place it in the freezer lol
@@dr.sethalbersworth it only works if there is leftovers from the coffee pot, I definitely don't go out of my way XD
yeah 1/8 cup of coffee should get you pumped
What if I just drink straight from the pot lol
@@dr.sethalbersworth that works but the whole point would be like a texture and taste thing for the shake. Ice cube's always make it better than tap water, and coffee ice cubes always make it better than water ice cubes
This is by far the most depressing full day of eating video I have ever seen
Don't forget that this is all your fault lol
I will never complain about having to eat 200g of protein a day on 2000 cals ever again. The amount of protein powder in this video has made me unwell.
Me too lol
@@dr.sethalbersworth Jokes aside the protein target is very high and you made a comment about it, but how exactly did you come up with that number? I have definitely noticed that I have distinctly better recovery at closer to 220g than I do near/under 200g, and I guarantee I do not have 220lbs of lean body mass so I am skeptical of the 1g/lb number.
Experience with dieting - I’ve tried running it lower and it just doesn’t feel as nice once the cals get low.
You look so happy 😬 Props to you for sticking with this diet. I’m just over 200 lbs, and would definitely struggle with under 2100 cals!
Comment for comments sake
Thanks your videos are a lot of help
advice for a stubborn ankle joint please? can’t feel a stretch in my calf. Just a ‘bone on bone’ feeling in the front of the ankle join. Haven’t had much success with the banded ankle join mobilizations. It’s been a few years so any advice is greatly appreciated.
This vid is an oldie but should give you some ideas! Don't Fear The Flat Foot | Ankle Range For Squats And Deadlifts ruclips.net/video/QGL3eLIgclU/видео.html
How do you approach your “calories out” portion of the diet? I’m dieting currently- 2000 cals at 250lbs bodyweight and around 2.5lbs loss per week, but I can’t tell yet since I’m 11 days in and fluid loss at the start of the diet exists. My question is, for a guy bigger and stronger than me, do you do a lot of purposeful cardio to speed up the process? Do you hit a certain number steps? Im curious because I can definitely diet, but my daily expenditure is less than I would like and eating 2000 calories at my height and weight is no fun. P.S. your videos are awesome, I like that you can take an honest look at your own sessions and point out when you make mistakes to the audience. The retrospective style videos are unique from all of the training content I consume nowadays.
I don't track steps, but I go for about a 30 min dog walk every day, and will go to a commecial gym for 20 min of stairmill HIIT weekday mornings. It's pretty much the exact same as I was doing before cutting, although the pace has gone up as I've gotten lighter. When I get to a point where it seems like the diet needs help, i'll extend time on the stair mill.
@@dr.sethalbersworth thats great to know. i appreciate the response

Great video! Looking forward to trying it this way. I have seen some videos lately talking about having the hands rotated a bit inwards. Have you heard of this or have any thoughts? It might just be a Starting Strength thing.
Mate i always struggled with sumo until I started doing sumo block pulls, they really taught the wedge for me. Have you tried them? Ps think I have similar leverages to you and I now pull the same weight sumo and conventional
Is there a difference between using the barbell end vs using a dumbbell with fat gripz on it? Don’t know if the way the barbell is angled with the other end on the floor is important or if it’s just the wider grip that matters
I don’t think the angle of the bar makes a difference - I do think the end of the bar being anchored lets you get more ROM which does
Starting to look like very jacked Dan Hurd. :)
That’s the goal 😂

Ouch touchy yuck yuck.. so that’s the scientific term. I’m learning so much
Smash 7:20

im glad youre still alive after all that , pretty risky
Hands were so damn sore that I was legitimately concerned about letting go of the straps 😂
As Sheiko once said: “Yes, I like sumo stance in the deadlift, but I don’t like how you pull in that video. If you place your feet on sumo stance, you should also pull sumo. Legs have to do the most work, not your back. There are two options: either fix your technique mistake or switch to conventional.” ✌🏻🤙🏻
Am well aware that my sumo sucks 😂
This style of video is awesome, love the retrospective commentary in between sets😂👍
Dr. Seth’s disappearing before our eyes
My big takeaways are never cut weight, never do cardio.
Yes
My low back feels shitty even if I squat 2 plates for a rep or two more than usual, or when I do a set more on heavy leg press with pristine-ass angelic form, and what helps me more than anything are: static stretch lunges, bending over at different feet stances and yoga-style basic mobilization. It is getting a little frustrating because sometimes even sleeping in a different position can f**k everything up out of nowhere, I think it is normal as we age ahahah
Your method is superior than what im about to say....I take a softball and stick it right below my bellybutton and just lay on it. On every exhale I sink further into it. Btw, was that thing one of those indian clubs?
It’s a 18lb mace that I got off of Amazon years ago

Hey Doc, any stretches for improving dorsiflexion?
Few videos on feet & ankle stuff here. Easy option for most people is just to run some deep bottom 1/2 calf raises as a warmup on lower days.
Awesome content and very timely. As an office warrior, I find that prolonged sitting causes the same issue, tight hips, psoas and anterior tilt. Now I have a couple of extra items I can use to keep myself moving and lifting. Thanx Dr. Seth
Love this narration format!!!
Little bit more effort, but makes it a lot more fun, eh?
@@dr.sethalbersworth it really does. Was watching on the TV in the living room the other night and even my wife laughed at your star wars / spiderman misquote segments.
COOPER
Using a false grip will force you to use your lats in the bench press . I like using pull ups and the bench press together .
Hey Dr Seth, do you take any pre workout supplements? Also I tried those “stretchy-stretch” curls you do and the bicep pump went crazy. Fr another great exercise find from watching your vlogs 👍
Yes, but for no reason other than i am addicted to stimulants and could probably save money by taking caffien pills lol. But, I also like fun drinks so I'm gonna sip my CBUM pre and chase it with a zero sugar monster lol.
strong lifts, those standing presses were mint, belt or not
I heard dry fasting is easier than a water fast
Fun fact you graduated along side my sister from Palmer but I watch your videos for fitness stuff instead of listening to her 😂❤
I mean, I'm probably not the best person to listen to if "fitness" is the goal haha
Any tips for elbow pain during barbell bench press? I can bench for several months at a time pain free and then seemingly out of nowhere I'll start having really bad pain on my first rep while unracking and lower the weight. I can then switch to dumbbell training for a few weeks and the pain goes away.
Check out the rest of the channel - plenty of elbow videos. If DBs feel better, first thing id look at is shoulder rotation.
Thank you! Strong thumbs are the way.
