Do not buy...I own one.. 10,000 when injector pump chews itself apart, metal shavings back to fuel tank. DPF, 4000 to replace at VW. Gear failure in DSG transaxle, 4200 to repair. 176000 odometer reading. Stay away. I'm selling mine. The DPF light on again after 25000 miles. Laws and regulations ruined VW diesels. Do not buy one. And yes, all service intervals done on time. Oil changes before required, transaxle oil every 35000.

I own a Seat Alhambra (VAG) the same colour as yours and I was thinking of painting the rails Black and wanted to know how to remove them THEN I watched your video and was converted to NO RAILS which look soooooo much better ... I also plan on painting all the chrome trim and wheels Black as well ... Stealth camper in the making IMO ... it would have been an idea to put a smear of black silicone under the blanking plugs before fitting OR even some super glue to prevent the ingress of water

I have 2003 V10 and rear left window died on me, I first tried replacing the window motor, still got clicking sounds, so bought a window regulator from the breakers yard and its like a puzzle to replace but your video has given me some confidence to change it out. A+++

does 2006 tdi not require this?? i know my 2013 sportwagon did not require..

Hey, Josh My name is Josh too. Are you literally on the eastern Wasatch front? I can recognize those mountains anywhere ! The only time I have been wrong in the past, the location was California. I've lived in Bangor Maine for the last 4 years and was gearing up for a cross-country trip HOME to Logan Utah when the carrier bearing rubber failed. I've ordered a new drive shaft which I should get in a few days and off I go. Thanks for the video!

Although the OP has posted an update where apparently the fix had failed after 3000mi, I believe there are other reasons why this happened. The bearing doesn't know how it is being held in place, but a really tight fit of the support is the main thing, and from what I saw on the other videos, this might have been a little loose, or the bearing itself had already had too much wear

I just performed this 'fix' today at 375K kms, after my 2nd bearing support failure on this car (2005 3.2L Petrol). The bearing itself is still very good, I repacked it too. For the cable ties I used stainless steel ones. It needed exactly 8 pieces of 5/8" tube (outer diam about 22mm), bit tricky to push in but pretty solid now. I followed another poster's idea and then filled all the gaps up with Sika-227, which should bond nicely to any remaining rubber on the bearing and the bracket. I cut the 8 tubes the same width as the bearing support (23-25mm), so they can't touch the rotating shaft. When it's all cured, I am going to give the mounting bolts rubber cushioning, after all this is supposed to keep any vibration away from the chassis

This bearing support broke on me 3 times so far, on two different tregs, always after about 190,000kms (120K miles). In my case however, the bearing had seized and then shredded the enclosing rubber. Only a new bearing (hard to install) or a complete new prop shaft ($$$) would help. Regarding this fix shown here: not permanent if you consider that the material is subjected to cold and frost, heat, water and chemicals, as well as dirt. The cable ties will disintegrate after some time, so maybe use wire or metal. Definitely a great and cheap fix though, without having to remove and dissemble the shaft and the CV joint

First issue or worst issue with an Mk6 or Mk7 TDI is emissions warranty DPF gets clogged causing tons of headaches! Secondly, the issues keeps coming back even after warranty covers emissions test! Thirdly, once the warranty emission expires DPF continues to get clogged….they don’t do well in short city drive😢! No one talks about this main issue aside from the diesel pump going out but that’s another story for a second video.

Once during a period of some financial struggle I took all the seats and stuff out, started using the jsw as a truck for hire to haul random stuff, and at night I slept quite comfortably in the back on a foldable twin-sized bed. Wouldn't the smaller tires register more rotations? I doubt you're getting accurate results without recalibrating the speedo/odo.

I had an old 1998 Mercedes A Class. That among other nice features had the possibility of removing all seats, except the driver seat. Just by operating a couple levers. Even the passenger seat was so easy to remove. And they were HEAVY all of them. Probably not so easy for you guys on that side of the pond. To beat that goal easily. Would be to get your hands on a PSA 1.6 liter diesel. Specially pre DPF (and crap) models. Those can be easily found on Peugeot, Citroen, Ford, Mazda, Volvo... Very smooth engines, very economical a pleasure to drive. In comparison the VW TDI feels like a odd tractor! You could hit that goal easily. ;-)

Forgive me but how does one say, "They fit" and immediately state that the tires rub and block venting/cooling ? Makes traction worse and adds unnecessary weight/stress/wear to parts.
