      It has been many a miles now and the fix is holding up perfectly.
      Even skoonpa made himself an emergency kit like this and put it in the spare wheel trunk.

    That hose at the air filter box is the front differential breather. Btw you should definitely change the fluid in that, and also in the other two differentials and in the transmission, presumed they haven't been ever changed.

      I changed the diff fluid last service. Going to do a transmission service at 200,000k

    Awesome video Josh! My mother has a Q7 Tdi 2012 its a blast to drive and very reliable. She bought it with 111k and has 118k now only thing I hate is the def stuff and thats it. But does your Touareg have the emissions stuff? We’re gonna start running some dpf cleaner in it and a couple more additives! So happy I found your channel Ive learned a lot from you! Good to know that these tdi’s are reliable:) sorry for my English Im only 13:) and Im a big Tdi fan and VW fan.

    I was looking at 2012 Passat se tdi with 120,000 miles . It has a good service history all routine & scheduled maintenance was done according to report . It is priced around 4500 . Looks like a buy to me . What do you think? Thanks

    • @spottedeuros1529
      @spottedeuros1529  4 года назад

      Sounds like a decent price. Passat have held their value a little better than the golfs and jettas.

    Josh. Are you quarantined in the Touareg?

    That is a good temporary fix to get you home from a trip but not a good permanent solution. The reason the rubber around the bearing fails, is because the bearing is old and worn out which in turn wears out the rubber surrounding it. You tow with your Touareg and put more torque through your driveshaft than the soccer mom just cruising around town, so you need to fix it the right way. If you are mechanically inclined, you can replace the whole bearing assembly with a Meyle kit. ruclips.net/video/urqi_wjSY4M/видео.html or for a couble hundred more, there are aftermarket driveshafts available that would be better than your fix. www.partsgeek.com/catalog/2009/volkswagen/touareg/driveshaft_-ar-_axle/driveshaft.html Whatever you chose to do, make sure that before you disconnect the driveshaft, you have your parking brake set. You car will roll if you don't! (Been there, done that.)

      Thanks for all the info! Defiantly leave an uneasy feeling using the heater hose. Like you said right now it will work. I'll probably just buy an aftermarket driveshaft. Seems to be the best option.

    • @colinkensley
      @colinkensley 4 года назад

      The heater hose is the best permanent solution to this problem...the bearing does not seize it is the rubber support that perishes...do the hose trick and never have to bother with it again

    Are the Hpfp failures I hear about in tdi engines a concern?
